A/B comparison of screens

We talk alot about A/B comparisons in these forums, but we seldom do it right. The only true test is to bring home two devices and hook them both up.

But how does one do this with screens? Most people don't have the space to set them up side by side. And if you place a new candidate in front of the old, it will be slightly out of focus. Anyone have any bright ideas on this subject?

Yes. This sounds like a good way to check brightness and color. But I'm reminded of paint and wallpaper and floor samples. It is very hard to picture the fullblown effect from a small sample.

And they certainly wouldn't exhibit effects from hotspotting, vertical streaks, etc. The samples are a good way to start, but eventually you just have to order a screen from someone who will accept a return and go for a "full monty" comparison.
