Home made screen is a delight  

I have been reading this forum for a month now. Got my CRT projector on Friday. After reading this forum I went out and bought the blackout fabric, screen door frame and splines, and some 2x2 lumber. Put together the screen in about 2 hours. It turned out fantastic.

I just wanted to thank everyone in communicating your experiences. It gave me the confidence to try it out on my own. I couldn't be any more happy with my results.

Screen turned out to be 80" x 52"

I'm still learning about the Electrohome projector but have already watched a couple of movies.

I was more interested in the width at 80" than the height. The blackout fabric is 54" wide. Since this was my first screen I just took the easy way and used the full width of the fabric. The screen was so easy to make when I get my projector set up correctly I can easily remake the screen.

The extra height doesn't cause any problems and I can see more of the desktop of my HTPC rather than bleeding over the edge of the screen. Actually, if the blackout fabric was wider I would have made the screen 4:3.
