Stewart Filmscreen Grey Hawk..?  

Does any one know how many ANSI lumens a projector should emit to be able to use the Grey Hawk screen from Stewart with .85 gain?

Actually I'm not really looking for a GreyHawk myself as I am about to invest in a CRT projector. I doubt even a BG1208 will have enough light output to drive a grey screen. :-)

But, say that I'd like a 16/9 screen with a width of 2.5 meters (~100"). What projector light output would I need to drive the GreyHawk?

I'm going to purchase a CRT BG1208 which is claimed to output about 1250 lumens. Question: Are these the same amount lumen you are talking about ... 1000 lumen from your G10?

Another question: Would the viewing experience be enhanced using a Grey Hawk together with a CRT? As I understand the GH will help produce better black levels but black levels should not be an issue using a CRT ... What are the actual benefits so to ask ..?

I use a Barco 808s on a 96" wide Stewart Studiotek 130 screen and it looks great. It's plenty bright enough. I would not use a gray screen with your Barco projector.

I would agree. The only reason to use a grey screen is for a projector that has relatively poor blacks but lumens to burn, (D-ILA, DLP, LCD). The CRT has just the opposite, perfect blacks but limited real lumens.

The StudioTek 130 is more suited for CRT's.
