Hi everyone!

When I was living in France, I found out that you can buy real screen fabric by the meter directly from the screen company (Oray).
Is there a company in the US that sells screen fabric (maybe not something da-lite, I don't want it to cost more than a factory made screen http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/wink.gif

Hey you might want to check in on what I just got my hands on.
I went to HOME DEPOT and got a drop cloth that is made of a special canvas that is sealed. It is a double thickness light proof material.

It looks as if it is made of PROJECTION SVREEN MATERIAL. It has an awsome mate white finish and has a blackend border around the top and botom edge like a screen. The piece is 9' X 12' and has a seem down the middle, but get this it is like two screeens sewed together so I am going to open up the seem and put one a way for safe keeping!! Hey if you want, contact me at VRAUDIO@AOL.COM and ill cut a swatch and send you chunk so you can check it out.

The whole thing cost $20.53 and has enough material to make one hell of a screen 4:3 or 16:9 your choice..

The finish is a really cool smooth mate white with NO lines......
The back is grayish and light will not penetrate it at all !!

This is the same stuff I've made my screen out of. If you want to see some shots and some instructions to make the screen, look into the following web site. I'm sure a few of you guys are getting tired of this link, but it has worked fabiously for me. Just make sure you lightly iron it with a blanket or let it sit in the sun to get some of the "deeper" folds out of the material.

Thanks everyone!

I'm getting some samples from Stewart and Da-Lite this week and I'll compare them to the fabric from home depot. I must say that the fabric from home depot does look good.

Thanks again.

DRS, Not to be a smart a$$ or anything but I just have to jump on this one. hahaha, its a painters tarp and believe me, it takes paint very well.

Actually I've painted this stuff under tension with the scrap material I had left over. Here's the deal, you put the paint on too thick and it will crack, especially if you poke the material after it has dried. If you can prevent the poke, then great, but once the poke has occured then its never the same. I am not a paint expert so if there is kind of flexable additative that you can add to paint, your results may be better than mine.
