Interesting screen...

I was at my local hardware store picking up some lumber for my "screen" frame. Anyway, I was going to buy some tileboard so that I could align my projector to the screen. As I was looking around I ran across some white formica 4x8 sheets. I thought it may make an excellent screen yet affordable screen. How about gluing it to say a 1/4 or 1/2 plywood for backing? It would offer a pretty smooth, yet minimal texutre and would be extremely easy to clean! Anyone think this is a crazy? I wonder how my lt150 would work with it. I keep reading that the high power screens are great as long as the unit is not ceiling mounted. This might be a cheap and easy project. The price was around $40.

I've been thinking the same thing for a while now but already bought a Da-Lite screen. Keep in mind that you can order 5' x 10' sheets as well and typically in Canada they cost about CDN$70. If your wall was smooth you could glue it directly on without having to use a plywood backing. I hope you try this because I would love to know how it works.

The (theoretical) problem with formica is that it’s TOO reflective. This can cause hot spotting in the image. If you do choose to give this a try, please let us know, OK?
