Hello forum members..

I thought I had the right choice (Sony) but after reading the review on ProjectorCentral I am again confused.

Here are some info that might help your guys..

Budget: 4500-5500US
Would like 1000-1300 Lumens (Higher the better)

What is the best bang for the buck?

The current favorites on the forum in your price range are NEC LT150, Sanyo XP21N/XP18N, Sony 10HT, and Infocus LP350/LP340.

There's so much information on those projectors here, I would be remiss to try and summarize it all. Instead, use the board search function to explore the archives.

One alternative would be to find a new, used or refurb-ed NEC Lt 100, Plus 1100 or Proxima DX1 (Mr. Wiggles picked one up for around $2K) and have Thumper do his mods to the unit. It would be very tough to beat on a cost/performance basis. With an htpc, you can match or exceed the performance of the new HT-oriented 1-chip DLPs.
