Wood as an insulator

I have a few electrical wires in the wall where I want to put my distribution panel in the garage. The panel, constructed of MDF, would be surface mounted onto the insulated, sheetrocked wall. Does sheetrock and wood(MDF) insulate from electrical interference?

Not very well, otherwise nobody would be able to receive TV signals with rabbit ears.
