If you try recording on 47.2 I think you'll be ok, and yes, I believe that some former Equity people are involved with 47/20.
The problem with them switching the channels names and call letters, is that the place I get the guide data from never updates the changes, probably because the station never bothers to notify them. Since its not updated, the dvr software will just list "No Data" for the station. Ive even tried remapping the 20-1 and 20-2 stations to 47-1 and 47-2, and its still showing no signal. Im just going to delete the series recording to stop the errors and find something else to watch. Not worth spending an hour on trying to fix.

They FCC really needs to yank all the licenses for these people.
The funny thing is, they obviously notified SOMEONE because U-Verse is carrying the CH.47 signals. Sounds like they just didn't bother letting any guide services know their plans(at least not services other than whatever service AT&Y uses).
So they are running the same thing on channel 20 (when its on) and 47? What is the purpose of that? What was wrong with just leaving it on channel 20? Im just not seeing what the purpose is, unless they plan to go to full power on ch 47, and were not able to for some reason, on channel 20.

I don't really care if they are on 20 or 47, but it would be nice to receive MeTV here in Benton (I have little need for Univision, but I might even turn it on from time to time if I had it,) so I hope this is leading to an increase in power.
I am really kind of surprised you cant get it in Benton. Its kinda flat over there isnt it?
It's fairly flat, but not completely, in fact, I live on a hill. With my antenna aimed at Shinall, I can get all the other signals from there just fine, and the Redfield stations are good enough that I rarely ever have any dropouts from them. But I have never been able to get even a hint of a signal from 20 or 47. According to the maps on RabbitEars.info I am well inside their range, so I don't really know what the problem is. I'm not willing to move the antenna to get them though, at the risk of losing what I've got, which are the channels I actually watch.
Yea, that is just bizarre. Just out of curiousity, could you ever pick up channel 58, which was broadcasting from the tower at Cantrell and Mississippi?
Was that analog? If that was the old ABN or something like that, I think I could get it at my old house. I really didn't get too deep into antenna reception until the digital age, and I moved to my current location in '06, so I've really only messed with digital stuff.

BEWARE OF SUDDENLINK SCAM!!!

Anybody have Suddenlink? If you do, beware of a service they try to sell you called "Suddenlink Safeguard." It is supposed to protect you from excessive charges on your cable bill if your modem goes out, etc. I didn't ask for it, the rep suggested I get it when my cable modem was on the blink. He said I could just call back & get rid of it if I didn't need it.

When I didn't need it, I called back to cancel it. The new rep said I had to keep it 90 days. Now they can steal an extra $5 a month from me. It is a scam.

Don't fall for this shuck & jive. Not much choice in Hot Springs Village for internet, DSL is slow.

Are all of the channel mapping issues the reason why MeTV has been off the Directv lineup over the past few weeks? It's been a "technical issues" screen for at least 2 weeks. I'm in between Conway and Greenbrier and can't pick up MeTV on my antenna, so I rely on the Directv feed and have a few recordings set for some of the classics.
Ch. 20 is back on air today with MUCH higher signal levels observed (98%) SNR 33, in the Heights area of LR. It maps as 20.1 and 49.1.

Also, Ch. 20 now id's as KKYK-DT, not -CD. 49.1 ID's as KMYA-DT

CH. 47 is still up and now maps as 47.1 and 47.2 with signal at 87%, SNR 26 at my location. Same programming on both 20 and 47.

And still not a hint of a signal at my place. frown.gif
post #12134 of 12336
I can actually pull in the signal now over the air. Coming in at about 60. Still no feed for Directv ch. 49 though.
I did a re-scan just now, and found a new station. Found a signal on 16. Very low power, with 67 signal and 19 SNR (AGC 62). It is showing WeatherNation, and re-maps as 58.1 with Id of KLRA-DT.
Ch. 20 (20.1 & 49.1) just went off air w/ zero signal.

I'm finally getting KKYK and KMYA on my indoor antenna in Walton Heights. I'm tuning through the local tv tuner on my Dish 722 Receiver. KKYK maps at 20.1 and 20.2. However, athough 20.2 shows a signal on the signal meter, when you tune to that channel, you get "No Signal Found." KMYA maps at 49.1. Signal strength on both runs between 60 and 70 on a scale of 100. No guide information on either station on the Dish receiver.

that would be 800 watts

.800 Kw is what the digital CP is for
213 meters

old analog was 58kw at 76 meters
Just scanned with the Tivo, and got all sorts of conflicting channels, 16, 20, 47, and 49. And not a single one of them will display anything but a black screen.
Only way I can watch KMYA right now is via cable, and on that channel, the audio and video are at LEAST a full second off from each other.
This station really needs to get their crap together.
Looks like KKYK-DT 21.1 and KMYA-DT 49.1 is back on the air with a very strong signal.

Hey guys, was wondeing if anybody can pick up station KJLR channel 28? I live close to UALR, but never been able to pick up that station with my indoor antenna.

Thanks.
I picked it up a year or so ago, but havent recently. If I recall from memory back then, it was an analog low power station, and simulcast the same thing as the analog low power station on channel 9, which was broadcasting from one of the towers downtown. I havent seen either recently, so assume they shut down and never switched to digital.

Signal strengths here in NLR:
7 PBS - 78
12 CBS - 90
16 KLRA-DT - 63 (PSIP as KLRA-DT and WeatherNation TV logo's)
18 WMAU - 60 (Skip)
20 UNI - 90 (PSIP not right. Scan adds these two channels as channel 85 on my converter)
22 ABC - 98
26 VTN - 63
27 ABN - 71
30 FOX - 95
32 NBC - 93
36 KKAP - 90
39 KASN - 69
44 Z42 - 95
47 KMYA - 93

Interesting results. I get the same signal strength on 16 in the Heights. I tried to tune it in while downtown, but my building's rooftop antenna couldn't pull in enough to lock. I could tell there was something there, just not enough to lock. I did pull in 47, though.

I cheat tho, I have a CM7777 preamp on a 16db gain yagi on my roof smile.gif

bobby I see everything but the 27.X channels
what happened to 47.1
last week I had the weather on 47.1 and 47.2 and 3 have always been black screens.

were the 47's a test or something?

I see people talking about them but they just disappeared from my tv.

Dave I got 58 but blocked it from my scanner.
I will rescan for everything and see what shows up again

Cantrell and Mississippi I thought that big tower was a radio station, ok it used to be
8 watts.... will that reach the ground LOL

You're not missing much. Those are all religion channels smile.gif

I have not picked up 47.1 or 47.2. I hope it is not another weather channel as we already got one on channel THV2 11.2.

I'm hopping MeTV also bring its sister channel Antenna TV which shows alot of 70's, 80's and 90's classic sitcoms such as Sanford&Son, Three's Company, and Good Times.

on wed I did a rescan and 47.1 is now on 58.1 and the 47.1 2 3 are all gone now.

I should have looked at the signal strength of 58.1 it is a nice clean picture.

=====================================================
Now something new or something different.
anyone know what is going on?

On thursday I looked at 58 and it was the weather world. I flipped to 49 and noticed the commercials were the same.
so I flipped between the 2 and the commercials were the same but the programming was different.

then the 58 froze. I didn't think much of it and turned it off.
Then on Friday morning 49 and 58 are the same station. Same shows, everything is the same.

So 47 went to 58 and now 49 is 58.

ok 49-1 is 480 and 58 is 1080i SO this might be better but the sound on 58 keeps going static scream.
Maybe they will fix it before they drop it all together, the only logical next step.

another weather channel as we already got one on channel THV2 11.2
well this is the poorest excuse for weather there is.
most of the time they are showing yesterdays news and weather.
NO radar. OH maybe after there is a BIG STORM they will tell you what happened.
Overall this channel is super fail.

not sure why but their early morning show is getting to be crap. No more speed trap listings and they just put on the 2 idiot girls and they sit on the couch blab about BS.
I dont know but they yack like their combined IQ is about 6.
PUBLIC SCHOOL NO DOUBT

Whats up Arkansas boys? Been a while since I've been on, just thought I'd update. I still get all the LR channels on OTA. Channel 2.1-4 gives me trouble. Seems there is just a small window to lock this channel at my location. If the winds moves the Ant even an inch or two to the side, I lose it. When I've got it locked its about 70%.

I am still on the Arkwest telephone system for my tv. They are in the process of installing Fiber to the house here in yell county. Currently Danville is almost done. They are now in Ola, then going to Plainview. I was told by one of their techs that they would then go to Havana then back to Belleville where I am. That kind of sucks because we will be the last ones to get it, probably another 3-4 years away. The fiber will offer 20MB internet speed. I am currently still on copper and have 512K, could have 1.5MB but dont want to pay the extra 24.95/mo to get it. I purchased a new 59" samsung plasma tv from best buy in Fort Smith last year and set up a calibration thru geek squad. The guy came out with a computer system and it took him about 2-3 hours to set all the calibration. He also gave me a list for his hidden menu settings and told me how to adjust a few things if I needed to in the future, he was a pretty cool guy and seemed to really know his stuff.....seemed a whole lot smarter than me. During calibration he looked a bit puzzeled, then he asked me who my tv provider was. I told him it was internet protocol tv thru Arkwest Communications. He said it was the clearest picture he had ever calibrated. He said his readings were showing blu ray/1080p levels and he had not ever encountered a provider who was pushing 1080p for normal programming on every channel. He said he was shocked at such high PQ levels from a provider. The HD/STB/DVR's output does have changeable output resolutions to feed to the tv thru HDMI. Mine is set to 1080p/60hz. I suppose 1080p/120hz or 240hz would look even better although a plasma can techincally handle 600hz....that would be nice, maybe someday

Fox 16 (KLRT) and CW Arkansas (KASN) were just purchased by Nexstar Broadcasting (KARK, KARZ) pending FCC Approval.

Thoughts as to what this will mean for news gathering, and station operations? Seems rather bad for one company to own 4 major stations in one DMA.
