They seemed to play OK, except for the 3rd quarter. They were missing a couple key players too, I think.
Yep, vipbox.tv is where I go to watch Cardinals games when Comcast jerks us around and puts some other channel on 95 instead of FS Midwest. That site has TONS of other stuff besides sports on it, as well. There is a section with UK TV channels, there are links for an HBO, Cinemax, and Starz stream. All kinds of good crap. I will say, it isn't always in the best quality, but it is better than missing out altogether.

I like the way COZI tv (ch. 30.1) trasmit their picture aspect ratio. The picture is compressed horizontally so one have to use TV's "wide" screen setting to uncompress it. This way on wide screen shows like movies, it will fill the whole TV screen without distortion smile.gif
post #12424 of 12505
With that method, called anamorphic, TV's that have a "screen fit" or "just scan" mode won't show it right. They need to flag it as "16:9." That way, all TVs (16:9 and 4:3) will display it in proper aspect ratio. There are locals that do it that way and it's the best way. With the way you have it, you'd never know the difference. But those of us with the other settings, the "wide" or "16:9" mode will stretch ALL SD programming, even those that are supposed to be 4:3.

Never heard of "COZI".

On my TV when it is on "wide" mode, 4:3 programs will show as 4:3 ratio and 16:9 programs as wide screen. Ofcourse that happen on COZI tv channel only since as you said their transmision is anamorphic.

I looked up the COZI TV website. When you put in a zip, it just keeps telling you to contact your provider to put it on their system. What is the assigned freq. of it?

EDIT: I think I found it. Is it supposed to be on 33 as well? I am not able to get it, it doesn't seem.

I just check COZI TV signal strenght, and it is not a strong signal (35 out of 100 on strenght meter). You may have to play around with antenna position. I live around UALR area for my location.
Meh, if they don't wanna put out a very strong signal, they don't want me as a viewer. Pretty easy. smile.gif I've gone this long without them, I can last longer. LOL I have enough crap I am behind on, I don't need another channel. LOL
post #12431 of 12505
Getting it at 90% on the converter box in NLR (Camp Robinson)

As usual, none of the old "Equity Broadcasting" channels have any guide data except KLRA-CD (univision)

They have several networks and radio channels. Guess they are cramming all of them on channel 27. Ive never watched so couldnt tell you which ones they transmit here.

3ABN
3ABN Latino
3ABN Radio
3ABN International
SonBeam Channel
3ABN Proclaim!
Dare to Dream

BTW, driving the rover would be a hoot...until I got thrown in jail. Think you need a license to uplink commands.

One UHF and One VHF-hi hardly constitutes an antenna farm. I had way more hardware on the roof in the 70's before cable and satellite tv. I lived in Milwaukee, Wi, and could get Madison Wi, Rockford IL, Quad Cities, IA, Chicago Il, and South Bend, In. When everyone else had 4 channels, I had 40 smile.gif

WeatherNation is now on 11.2 (THV2). I had watched this on BUD satellite a few times, before it moved to fiber delivery. It is a slimmed-down version of The Weather Channel (no weather documentaries or "extra programming"). It's widescreen but definitely not HD and extremely bit-starved compared to what it was on BUD satellite.

Now I have 3 weather channels on Comcast. Oh boy smile.gif
This is a good channel though. Hope THV still breaks in with local news. They just broke in with local weather. Might be a nice addition. THE weather channel is totally useless anymore, since they have everything BUT the weather since NBC took over.
They (KTHV) have a blurb at thv2.com about the WeatherNation channel that says:
Quote:
...we will provide coverage during breaking news events and continuous live weather updates during severe weather.
So, I guess they will use the channel the same as in the past as regards unusual events. They have dumped their 24/7 web coverage from thv2.com though. Just the blurb I quoted above is there now.

Say I wanted to sell my Series 2 TiVo that has lifetime on it, would anyone want to buy it? And how much is it worth?

They go for $100 to $125 with upgraded hard drives. Not sure about stock units.
Just wondered cause there is a bundle deal of the Premiere 4 and Stream together on tech.woot.com for $99 new today. Was considering it. Not real sure if I wanna tack on another bill for something that might not be usable if I decide to cut the cord.
The TiVo Roamio reportedly has a much better OTA tuner than the Premiere, but it only has one input, allowing only one option of cable or antenna, but not both like the Premiere.
Premier 4 only has QAM tuners. Roamio has QAM OR ATSC (not both at once). Personally, a used TivoHD with lifetime would be a better bet for possible future cord cutters. Copy the hard drive, and store the image for replacement later if needed...and rock/roll.
The Roamio wasn't on sale on woot yesterday for $99, but the Premiere 4 with a Stream included was. So, while the Roamio is a faster, better machine, it isn't relevant to me because of its outrageous price tag. And only the base model Roamio is capable of recording ATSC signals which is an even bigger no-no for me because it doesn't include the other features that the higher two models do.

I was only asking about my old Series 2 because I actually have it and was thinking of replacing it with the Premiere 4 + Stream deal that was on sale yesterday for $99. I just was curious what a Series 2 with lifetime subscription included on it was worth on the open market. Regardless whether the drive has been upgraded or not, I thought it might be worth at least a little bit since there would be no monthly fees for it. You can just drop in any new, cheaper hard drive you want to once you get it because hard drives are so cheap.

I guess I will just hold on to this Series 2 and swap out the DTA I have now for one of those new HD DTA's that Comcast will be getting around the first of the year. That will at least make it look a little more presentable.

ok it seemed like it was that long.
I tried nextpvr software and told it to scan for channels, it found 18 channels. Funny thing was 49.1 was the right channel and it worked but no guide.
25.1 and 26.1 were channel and guide.
it didn't know what 16.2 was but I had a guide of it but no picture. They are off the air right now aren't they?
38.1 no picture but it did show it.

I am going home to look this evening but I could have sworn when it scanned for channels it said that 49.1 was KMYA -CD.
its so strange that in wmc I manually added 20.2 the first time I tried and had a channel but low quality pic and no guide.
After redoing it all I tried what dave said about 16 and its the right channel and a better pic but no guide.
OTA has guide and knows the correct channel, so how bad can you make a hight tech tuner and software that can't do what a tv can.

===========================
had a buddy build a new htpc last month, after spending $800 for hw and software he is ready to throw his out the door. His wife refuses to use it and says it a pos.
5+ seconds to change a channel, no guide or very short guide, overall just like she said a pos.
He is now hoping to sell it and get a tivo
Just today I revived my Windows Media Center (WMC) just to see if it still worked. I noticed as you did that 49.1 (KMYA-DT - METV) was not listed in the guide data.

Remembering your post, I thought I would try to get it in there so I could watch that channel. FYI, I am using 72209 for zip which is a Little Rock zip even though it is 25 miles away. There are more channels to choose from when I use that zip.

First thing I noticed is that 20.2 showed no signal. Thought maybe 20.2 would be KMYA-DT. Nope ... "No Signal". Must be assigned by WMC on a RF channel I can't get here.

Next I went to Tasks>Settings>TV>Guide>Add Missing Channels. I added "49.1 KMYA-DT" on RF channel "20". Low and behold it worked and I could actually watch KMYA-DT (METV).

However, there was no guide data but, since 20.2 is listed and has the same data as 49.1 I then associated that data with 49.1. In the guide I clicked on "49.1 KMYA-DT" at left of grid>Edit Channel>Edit Listings>Selected 20.2 KKYKCD2>Copy Listings from channel 20.2 to 49.1.

Voila, I now have All the channels I can get here set up in WMC.

Just thought I would chime in about this in case something has changed now making this possible.

I like WMC better than the other options I have tried in the past. Mainly because the guide data is FAR easier to get and it is free. Plus, I like the layout of the menus and the way they all work. It is just intuitive to me at this point. The others just seem so old and archaic to me when I try to use them. It is the ONLY reason I like Windows anymore....well, and the games I like to play on it. smile.gif

Speaking of Windows, has anyone gone to Windows 8 yet? (Or 8.1 I should say) And have you paid the extra $10 for MC on it??
Windows 7 Ultimate here, and no plans to change. Parents hated 8 on their new laptop, so I went over and installed windows 7 over it. Had some sort of weird bios stuff that would not allow it to install windows 7. Had to call the company (Toshiba) and ended up having to change about 3 settings in bios, and reboot before it would let me load win 7 off the CD.

For the other guys using WMC and scanning...not sure how the channel lists accuracy are, but here is the actual PSIP data I just scanned:

Phys ch 16 has 4 services attached:
30-1 KKYK-CD Soul of The South
30-2 KKYK-CD Cozi TV
47-1 KMYA-LP MundoFox
70-1 KMYA-DT MeTv (it actually maps as ch 70-1, dont know whats up with that. I THINK its a duplicate mapping as 49-1, but since channel 20 already has that channel map, it defaults to making up a new mapping on my box)

Phys ch 20 has 2 services attached:
20-1 Telemundo
49-1 KMYA-DT MeTV

Phys channel 7 has 4 services (PBS networks)
Phys channel 12 has 2 services (KTHV, WeatherNation)
Phys channel 22 has 3 services (KATV, RTV, LWN)
Phys channel 27 has 7 services (3ABN network channels)
Phys channel 30 has 1 service (KLRT)
Phys channel 32 has 1 service (KARK)
Phys channel 36 has 1 service (KKAP)
Phys channel 39 has 1 service (KASN)
Phys channel 44 has 2 services (KARZ and Bounce)

Wish one of the 1 service channels would add Antenna TV to fill out the list (hint hint)

Hi Dave,

Where, as in what program/device, did you see this PSIP service list? Is this a WMC function? If so, how do you get it to disgorge the information?
