Well the time is growing near. This will most likely be the last update without having high definition broadcasting here in the Lowcountry.
To the particulars:
Channel 2 (DTV 50) - They are having structural problems with the main tower out in Awendaw. Therefore they now have plans to broadcast a lower power high definition signal from the tower adjacent to their facility in Mt. Pleasant. Expected range is only 30 miles. This should be accomplished within the next 30 to 60 days. Full power broadcasts won't be possible until structural work is completed at main tower.
Channel 4 (DTV 34) - Local station personnel Unresponsive. Haven't started work for full power transmissions at tower.
Please send e-mail or call them to inquire about status.
Channel 5 (DTV 47) - Don't know how many of you receive updates from station engineer, but he continues to provide updates and progress. Had a problem with a manufacturers vacuum tube that pushed back on air date to the end of the month or so. Definitely the class of Charleston in regards to communication and desire to bring the community HD. I'll post to this thread when they go on air. Will finalize a date for tour of facility in Awendaw soon as well.
Channel 7 (DTV 49) - Haven't had much conversation with these people but they are piggy backing on Channel 5's tower and equipment. Expect May 1 date will be met.
Channel 24 (DTV 40) - Began low power 480i only transmissions on 11/1/02. Their full power facilities are located with Channel 2 so not sure when full power HD transmissions possible.
Channel 36 (DTV 35) - See Channel 24.
COMCAST - Comcast not planning on getting into HD market until 4th quarter of this year, 1st quarter of next year. But local management is knowledgeable and interested. Corporate is tackling high priority conversions of acquired ATT markets.
If anyone has anything to add, please do so.

Which, by the way might not be a bad idea to help others determine what to expect in the lowcountry area, once they are transmitting. I will talk with the engineers in the near future and volunteer to test some of their signal strengths.

. Just about all the HD stations show in red for me , it shows I need a medium directional atenna .
