I think tonights game was just 16x9 widescreen stretched. I saw the Metro Sports truck pulling into KU today and they are not HD trucks. plus the quality on the Broadcast is not HD. Also the commercials where 16x9 and when they switched to local commericals they where black boxed. So maybe the regular season game will have someone else doing the production, but if it's metro sports, just enjoy stretched crappy SD picture. Think KU would be able to afford more but oh well.

Metro Sports doesn't carry the games and they don't allow their HD Channel on any other system and should.
That would be ESPN.

I haven't seen a MetroSports live game production that looked good since the world went digital. (Their Wizards broadcasts always looked like garbage. I thought it was just because of bad lighting at Community America Ballpark, but the switch to KCWE this season was a real eye opener. TWC is obviously not spending a dime more than they can get away with for production.) If Full Court HD is going to pick up the regular season Jayhawk Network games, let's hope someone else does the production.

I agree that it was not HD, but I disagree that it was stretched. While not crystal clear, it was a big improvement over last year's Jayhawk Network. I can tell pretty well whether something is stretched (look at the basketball, for one) and that was not stretched. Is your TV set to display 62.1 as stretched?

Looks like SureWest is back adding more HD channels. While I don't see KSMO HD, I did notice that The Weather Channel HD (with Local on the 8's) and National Geographic Wild are online. The Weather Channel has a lip sync issue though.

Yes I'm sure it was stretched from the source. When it went from the network feed to KSMO feed of commericals you could tell a big difference. Chiefs did a game last year in 16:9 widescreen and looked about the same as the KU game. Metro Sports does not have an HD truck. I know from back in the day they did the royals that they did get HD cameras, but don't have HD switchers in there remote trucks.

I watched parts of the WU at KU game on 62.1 KSMO. The picture on my HDTV was not stretched during the game at all. The ads were stretched though.

cece, you pulled in 62.1 from Topeka? Nice work! What antenna are you using?
Surewestkc has not updated their Lineup Online yet. After MLB Network HD like NHL Network and NBA TV would be where more HD Channels go or if they move FOX4KC HD up.
All Surewstkc customers should call say we leaving because you don't offer Myksmotv HD Comcast Customers should call say leaving because you don't offer KMCI HD and maybe both will say we will to get you to stay.

VU-190 XR from Radio Shack is my antenna above my roof of my home. I have owned it since September of 1996. It has provided me with over 14 wonderful years of viewing Kansas City Television Stations and the freedom from Topeka TV stations

The game feed is originated in 16x9 SD, and is up-converted by the HD up-link truck. My guess on the commercials is that they were stretched to avoid having to run them with some sort of side-bars. Bottom line: the game itself, is 16x9 up-converted SD. Metro Sports has one almost decent truck, they have decommissioned the older really crappy trucks. The one remaining truck while not HD, does put out some fairly decent SD pictures. The era we live in today is much like the late 1960's, not everyone bought and installed color cameras on the same day, it took years.

I get KTWU from the back of my CM-4228 in my attic in western Shawnee. It breaks up a lot, but I'm sure it would come in fine if I turned the antenna around. YMMV.

Most N-bay antennas get VHF better off the back than off the front. Such is the behavior of the beast.

925 on Comcast Olathe has been discounted on 8-25-10 but shows the MO Feed of it know.

Interesting! I didn't know that.

While watching the Chiefs football game via Over-the-Air lately I notice during fast moving video the picture pixels badly. Usually I see this when a signal is not broadcasted in full-bandwidth. Has anyone else noticed this problem?

Time Warner Cable’s agreements with programmers to carry their services routinely expire from time to time. We are usually able to obtain renewals or extensions of such agreements and carriage of programming services is discontinued only in rare circumstances. The following service additions are planned and may not be accessible on CableCARD-equipped Unidirectional Digital Cable products purchased at retail without additional, two-way capable equipment: Yes Network, NESN, Sportsman Channel. In addition, the following service changes are planned: Disney Family Movies On Demand, TWC Movie Pass On Demand SD and HD and TV Shows On Demand will be added. Sportskool On Demand will be moved into Sports On Demand. Watchlist on Interactive TV will be here at some on Comcast.

Let Comcast and Sunflower know you'd like to get Metro Sports 2. Sometimes there are too many games going on at one time, and Metro Sports 2 will be home to many football, basketball and hockey games.

Hello, I used to be able to tune KSHB on the QAM setting 100.12 and it's accompanying weather channel "Action Weather Plus" at 100.11 However, they seem to have disappeared. Does anyone know if TWC has moved these channels to a new setting?
1. Check the cable connections on your TV make sure they are "finger tight" or "very light wrench tight" meaning: turn connecter slowly until it stops. Cable ports on TV's VCR's, computer TV tuner cards, indoor signal boosters, and etc. can break easily with over tightening. 2. Check your connecters on your wall plates, splitters, outside ground blocks if it is part of your cable network these connections should be "wrench tight" with a 7/16" wrench. 3. Do a new Auto Program scan on your TV to see if Cable Company moved channels to a new place. 4. If the above steps failed to yield results for you call your cable company for additional help.
TWC moved KSHB... I won't be able to 'find it' until Monday as I have SureWest at home, TWC at work.
It looks like all the clear QAM on twc are now between channels 77 and 98. KSHB 41.1 is showing up on 89.11 with 41.2 on 89.12 on my tuner. I thought they sent out a notice saying Oxygen was going clear QAM and I had it for a while, but now don't see it. I don't think I have ever seen 50.1/ION on clear QAM. I guess they show too many good movies and shows. The SD version is there, I think with the group of local SD's on 77.

We won't get FSN Midwest feed 24/7 or any other new Channel on Comcast Olathe before the end of year because latest Bill doesn't mention anything.
Maybe something in this month's Comcast Bill saying new Channels coming soon.
Ive been losing KSHB OTA and that WB channel...oh the call letters escape me right now. Last night I have 0 with my tv signal meter but previously KSHB would pixel and drop out alot. Should I just rescan the channels (setup)?
I have been contemplating something like the HDHomeRun Prime device using a CableCard. (Still a couple of months out, but getting closer.) In the SiliconDust forums they say it should work with SDV. They also say that MythTV should work with it, but possibly only with programs marked as copy freely. That leads to the question of what is TWC doing in this area with the CCI flag? Are they leaving most channels/programs as copy freely?

As I understand it my MythTV system won't be able to get copy once, only Windows 7 media center will be able to do that. If no one knows what TWC is doing around here, can anyone tell me how to check myself? Is there a way I can check from the SA3250 box? I don't know that I care about that many channels, but USA would be nice to record in HD.
Vince, I would check your antenna before you do anything else. It may have been bumped, or something could be blocking the direction for KSHB and KCWE.

I'm not sure rescanning will do any good. It's not like 41 and 29 have changed their frequencies since the digital conversion last year. If you rescan while reception is bad, your tuner may forget those frequencies and you'll have to keep rescanning until reception improves.
