Kansas City, MO - HDTV - Page 290

Well What I need to know is what is the location of This KC on Time Warner's QAM lineup....I can't find it anymore. If this means I get a OTA antenna for the DT sub channels fine. I have a way I can view them and still watch the basic cable channels. So if anybody knows where This KC went that would be helpful. I notice Me-TV is back, but WGN and TBS have gone encrypted,

83.6 is encrypted...was that This KC once?... Says KCWEDT on the HD Homreun channel list. Also 96.27 and 96.41 does not come in now. 86.3 was TBS and 92.9 was WGN. I unfortunately refreshed the QAM channels over win tv software. With 96.27 and 96.41 the channels just don't appear on the scan list. The others says encrypted now. On the flat screen the channels are all missing as well. Me-TV was gone all day til I did a rescan tonight then it was back, but This KC is still gone.

Also as a side note the HD Homerun channel list is not as good now. Used to have a still of the channels image. Now it don't. Might have to do with not being able to have a current picture.

P.S. Just in case you need my location...well I am out here in Overland Park, but the QAM lineup was the same throughout the Metro on Time Warner.

I found This KC after all. Moved frequency. Now is the first channel coming on the QAM tier. It is at 71.4 now. So basically they removed for now WGN/TBS/C-SPAN/ Shop NBC off the QAM. All cable channels. They added some Arts channel.
You will find that they will move QAM-Clear channels all over the place without notice. They're not required to give you notice on those. All they are required to do is pass the local channels in the clear and that is it.

Effective 12/13/11, Comcast will be adding
BBC World News (Ch. 187) to the Digital
Preferred tier. Please call 1-800-XFINITY for
more information.

Autoprogram your TV again your Cable TV provider moved channels again. It is an idea to do this monthly anyway, CATV providers move channels at will just to screw with the public.
I found KSHB, weather and KCTV at the clear QAM channel numbers you mentioned above last night on TWC/KCMO.
They Found KCTV on Channel 89.6 or other or KSHB-DT on Channel 89.12 or other

Kansas City

KSMO

62.2

Cable Carriage Begins TBA 2012 know
NBA Deal is done so NBATV coming to Surewest but they don't know where it's going along with Bounce TV. Also in this Month's Comcast Bill nothing about Bounce TV for January 1st so I think they don't want to add anymore Digital Sub Channels.
All of the Spanish/Latino Channels on Comcast Olathe have a name now.
Current TV won't be Launched as a spected buy maybe in March/April Update.
Exercise TV On Demand s leaving Comcast on 12-13 and I say they would add Fuel TV maybe because we can see it in Sports On Demand Section.

Why do you just modify the last post instead of placing the new info in a new posting? Many may not realize there is new info that you are trying to advise us on by just modifying the last post. Case in point - the last link about Hearst's negotiations with cable companies about carriage. This is an end of November story, yet the post you modified is from mid-November. And the post says "last modified yesterday (12/24/2011)"?
I'm sorry I only do that if other people have made post since my last one.
Yes the closet one for Hearst would be AT&T U-Verse and maybe Everest if it's realy Surweestkc.
KMBC/KCWE is in a dispute with:

Allegiance, AT&T U-Verse, Cobridge Communications, SureWest, MediaCom, Suddenlink, Windjammer Communications LLC, Zito Media, Chariton Valley Communications Corp, and SCI Cable.

It appears TWC cleaned up their headend on Tuesday. I noticed Fox 4analogue was MIA during the day. I had been having trouble with dropouts on Fox 4 HD and ION ch50 HD had been MIA again. I was about to post to see if digital subscribers were having any problems with these channels via their STBs. But last night I had time to check and everything was back and looking good, along with a handful of cable SD channels that had disappeared.

Well the first part of your statement seems false to me as this was posted on 9/23/2011:

I'm not trying to be a pain, but I've had no problem watching it on 62.2 ;-) As to Cool TV, are you saying no further info has been released on whether or not KC will get it?
http://www.bouncetv.com/find/ TBA for KC Cable Systems and so far The Cool TV is just been shown on MYKSMOTV and other like RTN/My Family Net/The Country Network not here yet.

I downgraded my TWC/KCMO from standard to basic. I didn't have first hand knowledge on what that would mean for the clear qam channels received with the standard tier. The short version is I don't have 38.1 HD, 38.2 and 29.2 SD and a couple of cable SD channels, but have the rest of the local and cable HD, SD channels that were available with standard cable.
I have a signal level meter with spectrum mode, which shows a snapshot of the entire lineup. With basic, channels 24 to 76 are notched out, with the rest of the channels above and below that intact. The clear channels I don't get now were on channels 71 to 73. Not too bad for a considerable price change.

I knew TW had installed a video trap on my drop but I was curious if any channels would still come up. To my surprise, when I checked last weekend all local channels come through on QAM except 38.1, 38.2, and 29.2. All analog channels are blocked.

That said, I have a TiVo so this really doesn't do me much good except for watching directly through the TV as TiVo Premieres won't even scan the cable input without a cable card installed. My Antenna reception is rock solid so I don't see that I would ever watch the QAM channels, but I figured I would pass it along.

I went in to my local TW office to see what they were charging for the Basic tier and it was $24 a month with a cable card ($21.99 + $2) compared to $34 a month ($31.99 + $2) for the full standard tier. Sorry but paying almost $30 a month when you include taxes and regulatory fees for the same channels I get over OTA seems excessive.

dbdoc, did you get a better deal?
Our basic is about the same as yours, but std is an additional $44. They gave me a decent offer for digital with HD box, but it is still a lot.
There are a couple of cable channels I want on basic. And I like using the cable feed for recording, even though I watch mostly OTA for live viewing. Being in an area (Brookside) that has towers in multiple directions, it can get more complicated coming up with stable OTA signals for recording one thing while watching another.
I hate to say it, but as a Johnson County brat I'm not really familiar with where boroughs such as Brookside are so I had to look it up. Anyway, I could see where dealing with a 55 degree arc could be a pain when you are only 4-9 miles away from the towers versus the 9-15 miles I am.

Out of curiosity have you tried anything like this: http://www.channelmasterstore.com/Di...p/cm-3000a.htm
post #8694 of 8911
189 Comcast is know Color Screen with a Noise in Olathe.
I have been aware of the newer antenna technologies. I have done well much of the time using indoor antennas, although I had a directional on a rotator in the attic of my last residence (south waldo) that I used for a couple of rooms. I definitely don't need the 20db gain of the cm. In fact, since moving to brookside last fall, I have retired one amplified indoor and modified another to bypass the amp. Omnis, like the cm, don't do as well in high multipath areas, which is definitely me. Since you can't eval reception by looking at the picture like you could analogue, I got my pro SLM. Seeing the waveforms and numbers has been an eye opener for what you can get by with or not. If I ever decide I don't want to watch any cable channels and ditch cable, I will get serious about OTA reception. Until then, I will continue to dabble, as I have since I started watching OTA HD in 2003.

Anyone else with TWC lose ESPN just as the the KU game was starting? Every other channel is working, none of the ESPNs are (33, 301, 1301).
ESPN is out city wide on Time Warner Cable
post #8698 of 8911
Major FAIL. Could they not at least pull it up on ESPN3 and get something on there?
Comcast Olathe had it. WATCHESPN.com maybe.
Kansas City Live is coming back to either KSHB or KMCI.
mgsports, Master of the Segue. I don't know what Kansas City Live is, but I'm assuming it has nothing to do with college basketball.
