Joey,
I don't know where the 14th and 24th dates came from. I was told from my distributor over a month ago that the 29th of April was the ship date. I was told again last week they are still scheduled to ship this week or next at the latest. I have confidence this will happen.

KevD, I don't know where the 14th came from either but I do know where the anticipated date of the 15th originated. Here is part of a message from KD to me..

"Dear Digital Leeza User

You are currently on the list to get an upgrade to HD Leeza! KDS is PLANNING (not guarantying) to begin to ship units on April 15, 2003, however, KDS does not guarantee when you will actually receive the unit from us."

No guarantee of an actual date but it did sound pretty good at the time for the 15th.

"I feel the inability to miss their release dates was intentional." Have you ever had your car at an auto body shop? Well my best friend owned one. I also have had experiences with other auto body shops over the years. The promise a date and never , I mean never have the car ready on that date. They usually promise Friday , then comes Monday you will hear "waiting for one little part , you wouldn't want the car without that final part would you? Then comes Wednesday , Thursday, finally the next Friday they are giving it that final bit of detailing, shampooing and waxing you should wait to next Monday to pick it up. The carpets will be dry then.
The Auto body shop knew damn well it could not meet its original date. But knew if they said you had to wait a month for your car to be fixed you would go some where else and they would promise 2 weeks only to disappoint and deliver in 3 1/2 . You guys shouldn't be so trusting don't worry they will still sell you the piece even if you trash them a little about making you wait . They will even sell you two. They are in the business to make money first, friends second. With my experience with these type of transactions I guess I should have known. Shame on me.

I'm not sure your accusation is actually written in proper English. I assume you meant: "They missed their release date on purpose" or "They knew they would never hit their release date."

I am not sure which date you are referring to, but I -- again -- simply don't believe they did anything on purpose other than delay a product that simply wasn't ready and then work their butts off to get it ready.

The amount of grief they are taking is surely not something they sought out. Oh, and while these guys are definitely in the money-making business, they are honest, good guys who just wouldn't even imagine doing what you accuse them of. And they are not at all like the kind of people who run sleazy auto-body shops (note: not all auto-body shops are sleazy, imo).

I am sure the view from Mountain View, California is just great and waiting a couple of months for anything is just fine for you. Their company is located in N.Y.C. where time is of the essence. A lot of their customers also live on the East Coast like myself. So while your sipping on your double tall , extra foam cappuccino, I'm slinging back a double espresso. I hate to use more than one cliche' , but patience is a virtue, and one that I do not have.

For you new purchasers waiting for the HD to arrive I'm sure this is a real pain. For those of us waiting to upgrade I thank KD everyday for the great deal they gave us. That doesn't mean I don't get antsy over the delivery date though. At least we know it will be done right when it is released.

I am from New York City, borne and raised.

I have lived here for 17+ years and still consider myself a New Yorker.

I do not drink lattes.

I just don't believe in most silly conspiracy theories and I believe in the basic integrity of the principals at Key Digital.

X-Files? My comments are reflecting my opinion on the matter. I also explained the way auto body shops do business. I never called them sleazy. " I'm not sure your accusation is written in proper English. " Are you accusing me of not having a proper education? Your right, my brother is a Professor of Psychology. I just have a high school education and barely passed math, but I do have incredible street smarts . That is why I run several business and have substantial assets. Home theatre is a liability. On one last note, I never questioned the integrity of the company. I barely know anything about them and have not seen their financial statements. I just feel that the type of people that purchase $4000+ scalers will buy it on the performance and ease of use, not how soon it will be availble. This will be my last post on the matter . I see you have 5600 more posts than me, I'm sure I will not get the last word. Nice chatting with you and I am smiling as I type these posts not grinding my teeth.
P.S. I will take a chance and I won't use spell check.

It sure reads like a conspiracy theory to me. But I don't know what it's supposed to me. That's the one part of your posting that I was trying to explain didn't appear to be in proper English. It seems like you are accusing them of something.

If you are not, please just explain it. If you are, then you appear to be backing off the accusation with your post.

Incidentally, I've had a few of this rows here in 5600+ posts and I often give the other person an explicit invite to take the last word. You can look it up.

Just to comment onthis whole east coast west coast thing, I am orginally from NYC and moved away when I was 12. I lived in Miami and have been living in LA since I was 15. I always considered myself a transplanted New Yorker and am an avid fan of the Mets and always want the Dodgers to loose. However about 8 years ago, I went back to NY and realized that while I may not be the traditional LA guy, I am definitely not a New Yorker and havent been one for lots and lots of years. Its not a good or bad thing, but west coast and east coast people are different. Then again, there are many differences between people from LA, San Diego and San Francisco

According to KD the first 65 units are due to ship out May 9th or 10th. I'm waiting for mine....hopefully this will finally be the real thing.

Its not specific to San Francisco, but Northern Californians dont like S. Californians and of course we S. Californians dont like the N. Californians.
But to take a little further, Los Angeles is divided into two parts, the San Fernando Valley and LA proper. Although we dont dislike each other, many people on each side refuse to move, visit or work on the other side. We had an election this year for the San Fernando Valley to split off from LA, but we lost

There have been small crazy groups for years that have been trying to split the state into two.

I can't believe nobody has posted this yet. I figured there would be all kinds of activity here.

I received a call from AVS yesterday afternoon saying that the HD Leeza is ready to ship starting Monday. Guess I am one of the lucky ones to get the some of the first batch. :D
