Chicago, IL - Comcast - Page 342

I noticed that BBC America was added to my DTA. I assume that means it has moved from Preferred to Starter.

Any word on when the Chicagoland region will have HD DTA boxes?

There is a thread here on HD DTA's.

AWESOME!!! My ex-wife and my best friend (who live in the same building) are gonna love that. I'll have to buy more vhs tapes to tape Dr Who & Top Gear.

Now if ConCash would get CMT on DTA. That'd be even better. (If it is, they still don't get it for some dumb reason)

Reading in other forums, this appears to be part of a deal where BBC World News will be added soon, although it looks like it will be in Preferred.

Weird since WTTW (and WYCC, which isn't on DTA for some reason) shows BBC World News 3x a day.

And there's the RT News Channel on DTA, as well.
WYCC comes in on the DTA here in Chicago Area 2.
The BBC World News coming soon is a full-time channel, not just the short feeds on PBS.

RT News=great comedy.

It ain't on the DTA here in DeKalb, at least in the low-income building I frequent.

I just noticed something odd. Although I normally use a box or DTA on my 2 TV's, I was checking their direct connections to see what would happen now that Universal Sports was dropped.

The Samsung in my bedroom is fine. I can still pick up 5.1, 5.2, and 32.1 (5 and 32 share the same frequency), so they are not encrypted.

My main Sony can no longer pick them up. I even did a rescan, and now they are missing. Here, they are on RF115. In the TV's master channel list, 115 is just listed as is, which means analog, and isn't listing subchannels.

Again, not a major issue as it's only a backup, but somewhat odd. On the Samsung, WMAQ/WFLD is the same signal strength as WBBM/WTTW, which is on the adjacent RF114.

Update: It was signal strength. I tried a temporary connection to a stronger signal, and it worked when I tuned in the raw channels (115.2, 115.5, 115.6). I guess it must be a marginal signal the way I had it connected, not that TV's have very good tuners these days. I don't know why it worked before, though. Unfortunately, the only way to get PSIP'd channel numbers on this stupid TV is to rerun a full scan.

Hello I WAS WATCHING WCIU CHANNEL A NEW CHANNEL CALLED BOUNCE TV
IN CHICAGO.
Anthony, Bounce has been available OTA on 23.2 for over a month (or thereabouts).  By posting about it on this thread, are you saying that Comcast is carrying it now?
I posted this because i was watching wciu channel they came out andsaid new
bounce tv chicago i do not know if comcast carries it
post #10243 of 10824
I can't find it on Comcast either, only over-the-air at 23.2 on WWME-LD.  When WCIU carries a promo for Bounce or for some particular program on Bounce, Comcast isn't going to edit it out, so if you're watching WCIU or WCIU-HD via Comcast, you'll still see the promo, even if you can't receive WWME-LD.

FYI...January bills have Comcast’s annual rate increase price list. Also, they put their twist on the increase bragging about all there on-demand offerings, fast internet, etc. Quick glance shows triple play bundles up by $10.00, additional outlet up a $1.00.

Some clown just showed up at my door trying to sell it to me.

Anyone's using their Multiroom DVR service? How is it?

Thank you for turning off your Caps Lock! Comcast will carry Bounce, in due course.

Hmmm... we've had HDNet here in Schaumburg (channel 291) for a while. I'm surprised it wasn't added to your system yet.
CLTV and CN100 probably exist only in SD.
A year or so ago, CLTV HD was announced, but I don't think anybody carried it. They had an HD logo in their bug for awhile, but that is now gone.

Nope. never added to our system yet. I'm in the Chicago South region.

Or how about giving back the premium HD channels they took away a while back.
Romeoville head end never got HD Net either.

Yeah. I'm surprised there wasn't a whole lot more stink raised on this. Does anybody have any idea why we lost all the secondaries of Showtime and HBO?
Commie never gave me a satisfactory explanation. Just the standard bs line about somebody in corporate makes those decisions. Personally well over half my tv viewing is movies and the loss of those channels really stung.
Generally, dropping the premium HD's was all about $$$. Comcast can make more money by using the bandwidth for channels more people will watch and pay for. People complained when they eliminated the Western time zone feeds. With OnDemand now having a big HD selection, the movie subchannels will probably all disappear.
The one thing I hate about the DTA: no OnDemand. Damn, I miss that.

I was considering making some service changes myself. Has anyone heard any comments on or used the multi dvr service?

You can check and ask a wider audience at http://www.dslreports.com/forum/tvcomcast

That said, it's somewhat limited right now. You can use the remote boxes to watch recordings, but that's about it. You cannot initiate recordings, and I think not even delete, from the remote box.
