Hello just a note i noticed channel 252,341, changed there station call letters to cozi
post #10502 of 10824
That's because NBC NonStop is dead. Cozi is yet another MeTV/RTV/AntennaTV-style network.

PS: I just had something weird happen, and maybe some new A30 feature. It looks like it did a restart, but not a reboot. The Guide data was all wiped out, along with the menus for the first few minutes. But, it still remembered which menus I had last used. In the iGuide Diagnostics, it shows a DB Runtime from must before 9am. The Sys Up Time is from the A30 update two weeks ago.

Hello just a note my digital adapter box does not pick up channel 220 own
post #10504 of 10824
Yesterday, at about 4PM, it did that soft-reset again. It had still never gotten beyond 12 slots (6 hours) of guide data allocated. I ended up doing a full power-off reboot. So far, it seems to be back to normal, with the guide filling back in.

I was in Wheeling at my parents on Christmas. They have two DTA's and two ancient DCT-2200 boxes and Digital Starter. The DTA's do not get OWN, but I do in Schaumburg (I have Preferred). The boxes had also done that soft-reset thing.

After years with only TiVos and no cable boxes in my house, I finally swapped the CableCARD in my Sony KDF-E42A10 for an HD box so I can access OnDemand. We subscribe to a couple of premium channels, so it seemed like it was worth it to be able to access the "free with subscription" content. I installed the box on Friday 12/21.

My local office gave me what appears to be a Motorola DCX3200M P2/RNG150N. However, I am really disappointed that this thing appears to still have the same awful SD interface that my DCT2200-series box had years ago. Has nothing changed in the last 7 years? I have read posts here and over at DSLR about "iGuide A30." Is it better? Can anyone point me to some screenshots? And are all boxes getting this update?
All the boxes run the same guide. If it's really been 7 years, the guide is different. Back then, they used the 'tan' guide. iGuide is much better, despite being a bit old looking. They still are trying to support the ancient DCT-2200 series boxes and keep the user experience the same across devices.

There is a new X1 interface they are testing, but it's in limited areas to new triple-play users only.

A30 is mainly just a minor update with mostly behind-the-scenes updates, and few user-noticeable updates. You should already be running it as the Chicago area was updated a few weeks ago. If you see the name of the channel pop up in the box at top as you type in channel numbers, then you have A30.

Also, I thought that some Tivo's could now support OnDemand?

When I read that Comcast was going to charge for DTA's, I decided to return the 2 that I've had since they were issued(only 1 was hooked up) and upgrade to an HD box. Now I have HD in the kitchen and it's so much nicer, especially with the menus, On Demand access, etc. Even though I'm paying more, I feel that it's worth it. They gave me an RNG 110 with an rf output .

I remember getting this "current" blue guide just before I dumped the digital package I had back then. I thought it was 2005, but it was certainly not any later than 2006.

I definitely do not have that. I got my box on 12/21, and it was probably sitting on a shelf for a while. I expected it would have been automatically deployed to me by now as some type of nightly automated update. But if it's a minor update, then I guess I shouldn't care very much.

Yes, but it's being deployed very slowly. Nobody at Comcast seems to know anything about when it will be available to Chicagoland TiVo Premiere owners. One post on their Facebook page indicates there are "no plans" to do so, which is disappointing because we are probably the largest Comcast market.

My bill was set to increase $10.93/month on January 1 if I didn't do anything:

Digital Preferred w/2 premiums: $108.95 to $110.90

Two "additional digital outlets" for 1 CableCARD in each of two TiVos: $8.95/ea to $9.95/ea. Charging me almost the same price as a full box is BS to begin with (and a $2.50 credit is a joke), but until the FCC decides to do something about this, there's nothing I can do short of cancelling the service.

Performance Internet: $48.95 to $51.95

2 DTAs: $0.00 to $1.99

Both of my DTAs were hooked up and in use. I already returned one of them because I decided that I don't really need cable TV in the basement after all. The DTA in my guest room will soon be going back, as well. I also called Comcast and got them to match WOW's pricing, saving me $40/month. Unfortunately, I have to keep calling every six months to keep it.

This was the biggest rate hike I've seen in years, and I'm at a point where I'm just not going to put up with it any longer.

FYI to Andy: I live in Chicago and I still do not have the A30 update. I have DCH3200 boxes.

Does anyone else have a problem with ESPN HD and their DCX3400?

Sportscenter is usually the last thing I watch before I go to bed. Almost every morning when I wake up, ESPN is frozen on my screen. I can change the channel and go back and it will start playing again but does anyone else have a problem with ESPN HD freezing? This is the only channel I have seen this happen on. Multiple restarts of the box don't solve the problem and I really don't want to replace my box just for this.
Can you turn the box off? Why not turn it off overnight, unless it in the middle of recording something at the time?
Anyone else having problems with WGNHD (192)? The audio and video are breaking up. The SD channel seems fine.

I have heard Chicago and my area (South Bend) should have it by the end of March.

Don't know if it's still an issue, but early RNG110s were horrible. It would just lock up or even worse, it randomly inserted false "do not record" flags in the output stream of random channels which caused problems with my recorder.

Got the new bill today and as expected, old "grandfathered" DTAs are being charged in spite of what the Comcast rep told me last month. Of more interest was a significant percentage increase on franchise fees - 40% increase. Anyone else get this?

I questioned comcast and was told it was taxes and due to my local government. I checked with the village and they said they had no changes in regard to Comcast and franchise fees. Comcast charges what they want and the village gets a small percent of the revenue...I think she said 1%. Did I miss this increase on the many pages of price changes last month or is it just another way Comcast is trying to sneak more out of our pockets?
What town are you in?
Alsip, here.

Franchise fee increase 24.5%
Digital Preferred up 2 bucks, Sports Entertainment Pkg up a buck.
3 boxes up a buck each. 2 DTAs now 4 bucks.
$12 increase puts my TV bill over $146
That's TV ONLY, with NO Premium Movie Channels! mad.gif

How about adding some quality Hi-Def channels?
Too much useless programming. Would love a-la-carte pricing.
We need competition, wish we could get WOW Cable.

Seriously thinking about cutting the "cord"

I recently exchanged an old DVR for a DCX3400 and am having issues with the guide. The guide populates out to 7 days or so but is sprinkled with "To Be Announced" notations. The guide on my downstairs DCX3400 is fine.

I have tried power cycling with no result. I called Comcast and explained the problem and was told a reset would fix the guide. It didn't Another issue with this box is that it won't interact properly with my Xfinity iPad app. If I perform a DVR test the name I gave the box appears on the TV screen however I cannot remotely program a recording or see what's recorded. Again, the downstairs box works fine.

Anyone have a solution?

.
Anytime you reset or unplug the box it takes awhile for the guide to return to normal. Just leave it alone and it will be fine.
The DVR functions are also temporarily affected. You cannot record "To Be Announced" unless you set a manual recording, program start & stop times and channel number.
Don't know about iPad app., but keep the box plugged in and don't reset, maybe it will eventually work properly.
Yes I understand it takes awhile to populate the guide. I have this problem 3 days after a reset. Strange thing is WMAQ on Monday at 8 pm will be "To Be Announced and looking ahead, WMAQ for the next 10 hours or so will be fine, then another 'To Be Announced" will turn up. This is typical for most of the channels. The downstairs box does not behave this way.
It can take a full week or two before the guide starts to settle down. When you reboot seems to have a bit of an effect. Around here, it seems as if the long-term data starts around 10-11am. But, the box seems to want to fill in near-term first. That's probably why reboots are around 3AM.

Also, I've been reading more and more odd issues with the DCX's lately. I have a feeling the latest firmware has some issues.

You can check the database status in the iGuide diagnostics:
MENU/MENU/Setup/Cable Box Setup/Configuration.
On the configuration screen, hit the FAV key
Each press gives a new page.
The first page gives the system and database up time. With A30, I've seen it purge the database, which is similar to a reboot, but it doesn't actually reboot.
The 3rd page is the database statistics. The slots count (1 slot is about a 30-minute period on average) will vary wildly for a week or two before it settles down. Mine is currently hovering in the 500-530 range after about 2 weeks since the last reboot.
Thanks Andy that's good info. I'll give it a few weeks. (have to start over now, power failure in wheeling last night).

I've been giving serious thought to adding UPS to the box to avoid losing the guide during power failures.
I noticed the box rebooted last night and appears to have been updated with a newer version of A30:
Version 80.48-a30.1210.r-27

The previous one was:
Version 80.47-a30.1205.r-25

download speed in Chicago north side has been abysmal the past couple days. Current getting 4Mb down, 4Mb up. Should be 25/4.

Anyone have this issue?
No problems in Schaumburg. I ran a Speedtest.net:

There are several 'Chicago' entries with different hosts. I also tried the Chicago one that says 'Hosted by Comcast', and it was basically the same.

You can try running the Visualware tests. They have more than the basic speed tests:
http://myspeed.visualware.com/index.php

You will need Java installed and active (If you use Firefox, you may need to go into Tools/Add-Ons, then the Plugins tab to enable it, as the latest 7u11 is auto-disabled due to bugs.)
Click on the USA
Click on the YELLOW pushpin for Chicago (hover mouse over pushpin to see where it is)
This will open the standard speed test (red/blue)
You can run that test and view some of the information.
On the right-side, there are additional tests. You may want to try the Quality test (yellow/green), which keeps track of retries, lost packets, etc...
