Thanks I think the issue is my router.
after looking everywhere trying to tune my windows media center tuner i figured out the wintv software was much more sensitive and after many painful hours i was able to map all of the OTA channels coming down the pipe from comcast. I have left off the spanish channels a bunch of infomercial channels and some other brick a brack. then i could use the "add missing channel" function of WMC to build the guide. unfortunately for you i neglected to note which are modulated in qam64 or in qam256. i remember almost all were 256 but i'm not doing it again until they randomly change the map again. hope this helps someone out there.

By me, the only 64QAM is the frequency used for MusicChoice. Everything else is 256QAM.

Lakeshore TV is broadcast 56.1 WYIN.
Q87.7 is WCHU-LD, although I'm not certain what it's OTA is anymore.

You may want to double-check against the first few posts in the OTA thread:

RT News is a Comcast Leased Access channel.

392 is a broadcast channel, WOCK-CD 13.4. They changed that subchannel. Comcast just passes on what is broadcast.

I think the silicondust channel pages are very helpful for this kind of thing. This was the one I found for your area. (Switch to Digital Cable in the drop downlist).

Thanks to both eyereamer and rdoac, I had given up on WMC until reading your posts, I had moved over to Nextpvr but I really missed the WMC EPG.

From my February bill: Beginning 3/11/2013, Music Choice channels 701-746 will be available on digital adapters.
I've read about that from other areas. Even more, some have reported that Preferred channels are available, but if you only have Starter or lower, you get a Not Authorized message on those channels.

Just checked my latest bill for this month (on-line, haven't gotten paper one yet), and no mention of MC being added here in Schaumburg.
They're already available on our DTA in Chicago Area 2.
I noticed on the DTA that 245/389/596 has been renamed VieraL (VieraLiving), which is what WOCK 13.3 is now airing. It used to be LATV, and Comcast never updated it to it's new frequency. On the main cable box, it still says 'LATV Programming', and the channel is named WOCKC.

Does anyone have Check Please as a season pass on their TiVo? Today's episode didn't record even though it was new. It isn't in the todo list or history indicating it was skipped or cancelled. It's as if it was never seen. It always records the Friday 8pm show. Next Fridays show also doesn't up in the todo but records the following Sunday,
post #10545 of 10824
Maybe it's an issue with the Tivo database? On my Comcast DVR, next Friday shows as 'NEW'.

Yesterday and next Fri both show up as new on the tivo guide also. I've had this pass active for several years.
I'm not sure how the Tivo's series recording works, but could it be a priority issue with other recordings scheduled around the same time?

There was a tuner available. But also in the History menu on the Premiere, it would have had an entry for any failed recordings. So tivo didn't even try. I think it would have had an entry if it didn't record if it thought it was a rerun either.

I received a letter, which I thought was just junk mail trying to get me to add phone service, but inside it says:

"Due to an error, we have been providing programming to your digital equipment that is not a part of your current service package. On March 12, 2013, you will only receive the programming included with your service package."

I'm on the Batavia feed with Digital Starter service. I have no idea what I'm not supposed to be receiving. Has anyone else received this letter?

WOCK subchannels

on my 2013-02-26 bill for service in Chicago Area 2:

Recently WOCK-TV made programming changes to several of its channels.  WeatherNation TV is now available on Limited Basic channels 392/690 (replacing AAN) and Veria Living is now available on Limited Basic channels 389/596 (replacing LATV).  WeatherNation TV provides local, regional and national weather and Veria Living is a health and wellness channel which offers programming for a healthy lifestyle.

NOTE: beginning 4/16/2013, WeatherNation TV will only be available on channel 392 and Veria Living will only be available on channel 389.

No mention was made of carrying LATV from W25DW.  Since AFAIK there are no W25DW channels carried on Comcast, I guess they're dropping LATV.  Nor were there any specifics about ending any other duplicate channels in the current lineup.
I think they are dropping the duplicates because they are no longer ethnic channels, which is what the 600's are supposed to be.

One issue with WeatherNation TV is that it is supposed to be 16:9, but doesn't have the flag set, so everything looks stretched vertically. If it had the flag set, an HD box would use HD format, and the DTA stretches and then chops it to 4:3.

Or maybe because one is enough?  If they want to keep the channel in the 600's for what they deem an ethnic station and the one in the 300's for what they deem not to be an ethnic station, fine, but either way, one cable channel for each OTA channel is enough.

The 350+ are for the smaller stations and/or subchannels. Ethnic channels are duplicated in the 600's. There are some leftover dups in the 200's (223, 248, 251, etc...) that were supposed to have been dropped shortly after the 300's were created, but Comcast is too scared to do that. I wish they would because it screws up the Favorites list on the main box. Whenever it reboots, the list gets messed up and it either drops or adds both of the duplicates and I have to clean it up.

Scared?  Why?  Whom or what do they have to fear?
Customers can get angry if they 'lose' channels they are used to tuning into, and don't know how to look for their new numbers. By me, Oxygen is still on 67, even though it was supposed to move to 123 several YEARS ago. Basically, it makes little difference as all the numbers point at the exact same feed.
I noticed here in Schaumburg (and probably other NW suburbs based off Mt. Prospect) that Comcast has moved some frequencies around. I found that WBBM/WTTW is now way up at 855MHz (RF134), and WCPX/WYCC are at 849MHz (RF133). I wonder who's idiotic idea it was to put a major broadcast channel at the limit of the system?? I also noticed there are now channels using some of the lower RF opened up with the analog elimination. I saw stuff on RF8, RF10, and others, but haven't done a full scan yet.
Duplicate Channels don't take up bandwith and alo Comcast Lineups aren't the same because Olathe/MO's still has Sports Tier in 2 Hundred's,HD On Demand Channels like on 123,125,126,no HD Channels in the Thousands yet and so on.
They move channels all the time and expect people to read their bills or to search for the shows they want to see.  I'm sure fear has nothing to do with it.  If fear of upsetting customers were a factor, they'd never drop a channel, and they do that too.

can you post an updated QAM listing for your area? I went to google maps and it looks like Shaumburg has 860MHz motorola amplifiers and nodes on the comcast system while WOW has Scientific Atlanta amps and CCOR nodes. So Comcast should be able to squeeze out channel RF135 if they needed to as the 860MHz motorola amps and nodes can go all the way to 864MHz with 861MHz as the highest center channel for the Standard channel offset.
We've had channels up to 855MHz for a few years. It's just that within the past 2 weeks or so, they moved WBBM/WTTW and WCPX/WYCC up there, and moved what was there down lower.
