Due to the PowerBoost feature, most speed tests are somewhat fake. After a few megabytes, it would drop down to a lower speed. There is a program called ShaperProbe that does a long term test to see if the speed changes.

Another month, and nothing new except that Speed is moving to channel 408 from 72 on June 19th. BFD.mad.gif
post #10593 of 10824
You are probably from an area where it used to be analog, like when I used to live in Elk Grove. It's been 408 for as long as I've lived in Schaumburg (9 years.)
Yep, been on 72 forever on the Romeoville system. Same as the Elmhurst head end.

My bill had more information. On June 19, Speed will move from Sports/Entertainment to Expanded/Digital Starter. Most likely, this is preparing for this August, when it changes to Fox Sports 1.

station call letters
Late in March I tried to get a DVR to replace the ailing DCH3416 that I'd rented for years but which was going on the bum, and Comcast issued me another DCH3416.  It didn't have any of the older box's problems (except those that all DCH3416's share), but it wouldn't register for DVR Manager no matter what, and Comcast even referred my case to some special team in Colorado, and they couldn't get it to do so either, so I returned it and stuck with the sick one.

But the old box got sicker, so today I decided to try again.  This time, to my surprise, the new box was a DCX3501 with a gray remote.  One nice thing: after it was authorized, it stopped honoring codes from the silver remote that came with the DCH3416, and the DCH3416 isn't honoring codes from the gray remote, so while I still have both (until I watch the recordings on the old box and fully copy over the programming to the new box) I can operate either without affecting the other without having to put a physical barrier in front of the IR eye of the box I'm not currently using.

It's also on 659.

It's TVC+Latino. It's ClearQAM (58.395 here in Schaumburg). Oddly, the cable box and DTA have no audio, but I do have audio on the TV.

Based on the number in the upper 300's and ClearQM, it's probably a broadcast subchannel. I tried with my antenna, but couldn't find it.

Edit: On the main cable box, and direct to that TV, I do have audio, but it's messed up. The receiver uses ProLogic for 2.0, and this audio is coming out the back channels. I am guessing the left and right are 180 out of phase. The DTA is mute and probably cancelling out the audio.

TVC+ Latino is very much a broadcast channel.  I think we get it through W25DW on 25.2, but I'm not pulling W25DW in lately, so I can't check on that.

Just a note that 390 (WOCK 13.5) has changed from MegaTV to "Soul of the South Television". Website: http://www.ssn.tv/ It's also still on 599, but I assume that may eventually be dropped since it's no longer a non-English channel.
That didn't last long. Later in the night, 599 became "WSNS-Al" on the DTA. It's not in my package, and is encrypted. It still has no name on the main box.

So I live in Elmhurst - I called about the new X1 availability as I read an article that stated it had launched in Chicago. The first rep I spoke with said it was available but that I wouldn't be able to switch to these new boxes because my base Comcast services didn't add up to $135 per month. Keep in mind, I am a triple play customer.

I then hung up and called back about 30 minutes later and talked to a more knowledgeable rep. He stated that the X1 was supposed to launch in May but it got pushed back. He said it launched in southern Illinois and it would launch in the Chicago land area sometime next month, possibly. He still said that I would need the HD Premier package to even upgrade to the X1 platform. I guess they are only upgrading their current Premier customers.

If they wont upgrade my boxes because I dont pay them enough money per month, i will certainly cancel my comcast subscription and go with att uverse.

The way things are being done are new triple play customers, next were complete and premium xf customers because of equipment supplies and eventually all will be eligible so it is just a matter of being patient which I myself am finding hard to be.Have you been to the local office and played around with the format ?Why they just don't release it ,because it is not going to run smoothly for a long time .We have to trust they know what they are doing.Gradual works for them but if they get Greater Chicago Area done that should take it over half their customer base.

Thank you, Spiderman865.  My bill is cut on the nineteenth of the month, so there's news in there I couldn't have seen yet.

Nothing about Movies! (OTA 50.2), though.  I'm really hoping Comcast carries them, because the reception of WPWR on the best antenna that I can connect to my OTA DVR is just not up to snuff, and there are some films coming up on that channel that I'm eager to see.  [Some are during the night, and my days and evenings (and nights) are subject to interruptions at any time, so I have to record and timeshift everything I want to watch.]  It would be nice to be able to pull them in through the cable connection.

Why is it lately that these notifications tend to come AFTER the actual change? Are the changes happening so fast that Comcast doesn't have time to notify anyone.

if local stations make changes with little notification there's nothing Comcast can do other than notify you after they find out. For chanels that go from a higher tier to a lower tier, it's to your benefit so notices may be late. For channels moving to a higher tier, at least 30 day notification is required.
The channel listing on the site for Movies! TV Network (on WPWR at OTA 50.2) says that Comcast will be carrying it on channel 363 starting August 1.

Odd thing on the DTA today. Disney XD (122) is pointing at the Disney XD Spanish feed (617). It's not a LANG button issue. The diagnostics show both pointing at the Spanish language feed, and the channel diagnostics show SPA as the only audio feed. On the full box, it's English and pointing at the normal feed.

Saw a story in the Daily Herald that Comcast is officially launching the X1 platform in the Chicago area today.

I called Comcast yesterday and ask for the new X! box, even though I have premier package, they will only give them to new customers and customers who upgrade. What is up with that? This is how they treat their loyal customers.

You just now figured that out. They have to do something to attract those imaginary customers that are switching to other providers, that they think will go with CC.

Call Retentions and tell them how you've been looking forward to this and how disappointed you were to hear you're not eligible. I did and Im getting the X1's and upgraded to Premier +, from Preffered at the same cost I was paying before.

Can you let us know when you get it and your experience with it?

Install happened yesterday (Friday). Tech showed up today and had everything up and running in about 2 hrs. Made his job easy as I had everything in a home run panel from when I rewired a few years ago. He took off the 3 splitters I had and gave me one of the new zero loss amps they're using and was super pleased on virtually no DB loss at any of the terminals. Also changed out all of the connectors outside, so a well done install. Pros/Cons are below. I'm still finding new stuff all the time with these, so this is only a list so far, but im very pleased with these. A huge step up from the old guide and boxes. which is about friggin time for Comcast. Now we just need a more unified channel lineup and some more HD!

Pros:
The new interface is great.
Auto tune HD
Last 9 channels viewed show up after hitting the recall button
Quick response on the boxes
Multi room DVR
XR2 remote
Smaller boxes

Cons (all minor nitpicks):
Boxes don't seem to work with my Harmony remotes.
Cant pause live TV from satellite boxes
Have to hit 'OK' after entering a channel number
No dedicated button (yet) to go straight to either On Demand or the Apps
XR2 remotes are not backlit. New button layout
No clock on satellite boxes
No way, that I know of, to program the A-B-C-D buttons

How many tuners does it have?
The commercials promoting the X1 imply that it has four or five tuners, because they claim it can record four channels while you watch a fifth one.  That could be double-talk for saying that it can record four channels while you watch a previously stored recording.
