I've been DVR-ing music performance shows on WTTW-HD channel 191 on my comcast box. I then play them back and record to DVD-R on my Panasonic DVD recorder.
The issue that keeps coming up, a split-second audio dropout on the WTTW broadcast. This seens to happen 2-3 times during an hour show.
This came up again last night. I had the DVR recording Mumford & Sons: Live From The Artists Den, and then Steve Miller on Austin City Limts. I was flipping back and forth watching other channels too. While checking in on the "live" broadcast, I caught an audio dropout on the Mumford & Sons. Then, same during Steve Miller, audio dropout during The Joker. I have not watched the full DVR recordings of these shows yet. I already know they are ruined because of at least 1 audio glitch in each show.
I have recorded dozens of shows off WTTW-HD on the DVR, and have experienced these audio glitches on probably 75% of them. Artists Den, Austin City Limits, Great Performances, American Masters, White House Performances, and many, many other concert music shows. Same damn issue, 2-3 times, a split second audio dropout. This wrecks the music performance and has me fed up.
I have DVR'ed hundreds of shows in HD, then burned to DVD-R or DVD-RAM (in SD, of course) without any issue. All the networks, Palladia, VH1, MTV, CMT, premium channels, and sports channels, all playback with NO issues. Even the other PBS HD channels (239, 240) seem fine.
So, is WTTW deliberately sabotaging these programs? Or is it Comcast screwing up the transmission of these telecasts? Comcast can't seem to get rid of the stutter/glitch on it's own Comcast Sports Net channel.
Please chime in if you have noticed any issues.
