I had the VERY same thing happen to me - basic only here w/a digital box, that I have had for almost 2 years.
Approx 4-5 months ago, I just happened to change to one of the expanded basic channels on the box - & it came on! After running thru the channels, EVERYTHING that was part of the expanded basic tier was authorized thru the box. (nothing on Digital Starter or up) I simply figured that perhaps they put them in the clear, as part of our analog removals that are taking place - but after running scans on clear QAM TV's, that didn't seem to be the case. I didn't concern myself about it, since CC MADE the error & I figured they'd eventually shut them off.
Fast forward to last week - I received a letter from CC, advising me "during a recent audit, it was determined that my set-top boxes were inadvertently receiving prog not included in my current sub level, & that it would be corrected on 12/6." They also listed all the channels of limited basic cable - which was actually the WRONG list off of the Lincoln system, NOT Springfield. (gee, NO wonder they can't properly authorize a box!
Anyhow, they are NO longer authorized, so I'm wondering if this happened on a larger scale throughout our region?
As far as the filter, the tech probably took out the expanded basic trap due to maybe a signal issue you might have been having, since they will NO longer be necessary with the elimination of analog expanded basic. Since you started getting it though in the same time frame as I, it sounds like though your CC WAS authorized for expanded basic, but they "corrected" YOUR service as well - are you SURE you didn't get a letter like I did? I think the fact a filter might
been removed is just a coincidence.
Any insight other than calling the cable company?
Yea, be GLAD you got FREE service for several months to enjoy - think of it as a VERY long FREE preview.
And, don't you think asking the SAME question THREE times on the SAME board IS enough, for what should be a pretty obvious answer anyway?
(OK, maybe not...guess someone needs to make it CLEAR) Nobody on this board is going to tell you how to get service back you were NOT paying for! (& even if they DID, a mod would probably have it deleted before you even saw it!)
