I wrote to WSBE (36) and inquired about when they will be going digital.
Received a nice response, was thanked for my interest - and believe they hope to begin digital operations sometime in 2005.
I am in Southern R.I. and my digital viewing is limited to Over The Air via an older existing UHF-VHF pre-amped rooftop antenna - and a Samsung SIR T351 tuner.
No complaints so far - but reception does seem to be better when we turn the lights on in the bathroom......
Able to receive: PBS - 2.1,2.2 , 44.1,44.2,44.3,44.4 and 4.1,5.1,6.1,7.1 with dropouts, 10.1 and 12.1 with last two also providing what appear to be weather subchannels. 64.1 is in and out. Was able to watch a few of the ballgames in HD but did experience some artifacts and freezing leading at times to Not Available logo. The PBS 2.2 station appears to broadcast a beautiful HD signal. Wondering if any further amping is possible for a set-up such as mine (short of 'amping' to a pay service). Note Circuit City has some sort of plug in amplifier which claims to bring in distant stations
