I still can't find the date in this thread when DTV will launch these channels? Did I miss it? PLease don't chop my head off for missing it? Thanks! :D :D :D :D :D :D

While I'm very excited, this brings up some interesting questions.
Will Comcast get down an dirty and get ESPN HD too in the near future? They have now announced roll outs for HD in Sacto, So Cal, Bay Area and Chicago.
What will D* do about network HD considering I, like many, have no OTA possibility? I consider this if not more important than ESPN-HD
Will you need to make another year committment just to sign up for the package?
Would my DST3000 receive and decode local network HDTV if I activated basic cable?

It's in the thread title:

July 1st is the launch date. Also on another note one of the reasons HBO and Showtime were not part of the package is because of agreements already in place. Not sure this is the only reason but 1 of them anyways. Maybe when the agreements are up they will be added.

AreBee,

What stb do you have ???

Bill
Bill,

I have the Hughes E86. My dish points across the street and the tree line on the other side of the street is a bit to high for clear line of sight to 119. I was getting fluctuating signals (0-37) over the winter but I could never hold the picture more than a second or two. I haven't seen a blip on 119 in a few months. Probably because of the leaves. I had a guy come out and put the Sat C kit in and he had a radical install idea that I may have to take him up on.

Hats off to mythical_phoenix for breaking the news!

Should we send Stephanie Campbell some flowers as thanks and being patient with our nagging?

Can someone perhaps update the first post in this thread to include the press release, or at least a link to the press release?

I just called Stephanie she is not in but I thanked her admin and told her about all the good things being said about them on this forum. She seemed pretty happy herself

I am still having a problem coming to grips with my D* bill that is now $120 monthly and will soon become $131. There really should be some incentive in this for being a Premiere subscriber and for those aspiring to become one.

We'll see if she changes her tune when people start calling and screaming, "I've got f-ing lip-synch problems!" :D

Stephanie's probably having a Calgon moment.

Until BravoHD, CinemaxHD and others start coming online...

Now, to make my day complete, anybody find a ship date for the HD DirecTiVo?
Well I guess all we can hope for is that they do it right. The other concern would be the ESPN production because if ABC is any indication then we will not be very happy. I just hope over time ABC/ESPN gets their act together and in my mind they have until the first pigskin is in the air

Hello Sunday night Football…

I have “Total Choice Premierâ€. Now, the question is how does the new HD premium service get added?

Is it free?
Is it @ $10.99?
Is it some where in the middle?

Do I drop the sport pack?
Do I drop Starz? Not likely to go HD soon…
post #261 of 815
Don't forget about college ball on Sat nights. Yes dump Starz

Let me just tell you how good today really is (at least for me)

1.) my wife and I just had our 1st home inspected today and a closing date has been set and we should be finished with painting and flooring by July 1.

2.) Philips released a long awaited update to their Pronto Edit NG to 1.2 with some, but not all fixes the the TSU 3000

3.) D* announces more HD

It just doesn't get too much better :)
:):):)
The way the press release is written it sounds as though the price is $10.99 no matter what level of service you have. That is a real kick in the a** for us Premier subs.
I can thinkof a few things to make itbetter, but your wife will have to do that!!!
Become A FSU Fan and then have a baby then you will have a complete day
post #266 of 815
Watch DISH get Cinemax and Bravo HD before D* does.
Your right about the wife and favors, and the baby, but curse to all that bring up College rivalries - let their be peace today!!!

(tomorrow we chant fight songs)

Indeed, in our house the jury is out until we get to see these channels in action. On average, these four channels are going to cost $2.75 each per month.

I already have HDNet and I think it's worth about 50 cents a month to me. That means the other three channels in the package are effectively going to cost me $3.50 per channel. We'll see if those channels warrant the cost.

My thinking is that I will be a sub on July 1 and will reevaluate before Aug. 1 as to whether I want to continue to be a sub.

Guys who have Discovery Channel HD (and who have been paying something like $6 a month for it) say that it's not worth that price. But is it worth $2 a month? $3 a month?

My guess is that I won't really be too interested in anything but the ESPN-HD. So, it will come down to whether I think ESPN-HD is worth close to $10 per month.

What's more, given that ESPN-HD won't be showing that much HD this year (with the exception, I assume, of Sunday night football), it might be an interesting question as to whether it makes sense (for me) to even subscribe to this package until next year.

We'll see.

Kudos to DirecTV nonetheless for getting these channels on their system. Additionally, nice work, mythical_phenix, for digging up this DirecTV stuff.

Take care.

It was just yesterday that I screamed at a CSR for a $45 early cancellation charge D* impose on me. I drop D* last fall. One year after our World Trade Center HD antenna fell, I have no choice but to switch to TWC to get local HD channels. I pleaded to D* then to allow me to continue subscribing HBO HD and Showtime HD and they refused. Two weeks ago, they sent me two bills of $45 (early cancellation charge) for service I canceled more then half a year ago. The due day is June 5. Yesterday, I even receive a letter from a collection agency representing D* to collect the same $45 that is not even due yet. I was so mad and call the CSR and said I need to pay the bill. I swore I will never use D* anymore. I went online and tried to pay the bill, you know what? it has been reversed and waived. I called again and a new CSR apologized for their mistake.

Today seeing this news, may be I will reconsider and subscribe D* again if they let me only subscribe their HD package. Does any of you think they will let me do that. I can't cancel the TWC service because that is the only way for me to get local HD channels. May be D* should give NYC a special exemption for we lost our HD antenna in 911.
