It's official - DirecTV to carry HDNet Movies, Discovery HD, ESPN HD - July 1, 2003! - Page 2

I too have seen it, it looks real to me, and I have stuck the topic.

Congratulations to AVS member mythical_phenix for the fantastic find!

So now we know what, when & how much are still unknown.

Great find! I was considering "the switch" to E*, but if this comes to fruition, then why would I EVER do that?:D
post #33 of 815
Regardless of predictions this site ALWAYS seems to have the news first and with more detail than any other site, outstanding members with "skills" as the kids say.
Wonder how many people are still gonna jump ship and go to e* :o

Hitting view source and seeing the message is like playing the Beatles album backwards and hearing the "Paul is dead" message.:D

I am using IE on Windows and it does not allow viewing the source directly baecuse it is a .asp file. You have to save the web page as HTML file first. Then use a text editor to open it.

I'm using IE6 on XP and it worked fine for me. It's jsp (whatever that is) for me too: http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/imagine/HDTV.jsp

Next challenge, find one of those websites that archives webpages and see when exactly this was added :-)

I'm using IE 6 and I just clicked on the link that GreenDice provided and then on the pulldown menu picked View and then Source. Then just do a Find for ESPN or Discovery and bingo there you are.

You DirectTV guys will love DiscoveryHD. It has gotten better recently and does look great. Plus very few commercials. Hopefully Dish won't be far behind with its matching plan.

Read the thread, it was added today.

how ironic – the information we have all been looking for comes from "the source", eh ?? Anyway -- the lines in question also reference a picture file that apparently will show the Sat-C kit and a link to a Sat-C page. The link to the page is completely missing but the picture file sat_c.gif already exists.

of course -- this could just be a really bad joke on the part of some web guy, eh ??

I'd be willing to bet that the announcement comes this week, I can't imagine that they would put this in the source and not announce soon. Lets hope it's available soon.
GREAT FIND!!!

It should be obvious that until word is available from DirecTV, it's not official, and yes it's not out of the question this could be a prank or other mistake.

Or, for the conspiracy theorists out there, a way to keep people from jumping ship! ;-)

Is mythical_phenix that computer guy you see on the Agency? Who would have thought of looking at the subliminal messages in the source?

Of some guy who is about to loose his job soon if thats the case.

Maybe it was a CSR that got sick of getting the same question over and over again.
maybe DirecTV hired that CBS goon that flashed the "Jenna's Family" at the bottom of the screen on the Survivor Finale, about 10 minutes prior to the winner being announced? :D If so, I guess this guy will be searching for a new job again!!

I think they one-upped the Dish guys "ESPN-HD at launch" propaganda!

And as far as anybody at DirecTV getting in trouble over this, that would be a stretch. I don't think DirecTV cares that much if the word gets out and if a partner complains they can just plead ignorance.
No i ment if it is not true or a prank. heads are gonna roll

I dont see it anywhere. All i see updated is the NBA channel taken off the HDTV website. What is the exact link? Plus i have the latest version of IE.

Maybe someone can make a copy of the screen and upload it here.

The exact link is listed above, it's the standard DirecTV HDTV page. The first post of the topic is copied from the View / Source window.

From the top bar of your IE browser:
File Edit View Favorites Tools Help

Click View, then select Source. A window will appear, the info is found about 3/4 of the page down.

Great news! Great scoop! Now where do I get my Sat-C kit from? Do any retail stores sell this?
Directions using Internet Explorer:

1. Go to http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/imagine/HDTV.jsp
2. In the file menu go to "View | Source", this opens up Notepad with the html source code
3. In Notepad, in the file menu, go to "Search | Find"
4. Enter in "ESPN" and click on find next.
