Couldn't this work be done in the middle of the night? If WISE/WPTA are going to operate in this fly-by-night manner, can I please get a waiver so I can get ABC and NBC from another market?

The last time I know that WISH (CBS), Indy needed to make some antenna adjustments it was scheduled at about the same time on a Sunday morning. The viewing audience is usually quite small at that time plus with this being a holiday weekend, the viewing audience is even smaller. The temporary shutdown won't affect that many. I just checked the local Indy ABC and NBC stations, and they are both airing paid programming. No big loss there!

Plus, I don't know of any tower crew members wanting to climb to the top of a TV tower to work on the antenna in the dark during the overnight hours..................

This needed to be done durring daylight hours. It would have been unsafe and difficult to do in the middle of the night (in darkness). Normally all maint work is done overnight whenever possible.

Due to this is a very low veiwership time and this was the time that worked for the tower crew.

UPDATE:

We have found the required 5.1 gear at one of our sister stations and we are working on getting it installed and configured. Our goal is to have 5.1 ready within the next week or so.

Maybe its an NBC thing, but, sound doesn't seem right on Football Night in America on 33 right now.

I've got Dish and noticed that since PBS upgraded to HD, Dish doesn't carry the HD channel of PBS on satellite (although they carry all other FW stations in HD). PBSMatt, if you still monitoring this thread, is this something the local PBS should contact Dish about, or should I call a Dish CSR? I have a feeling the Dish CSR would be a waste of time.

hello all!

new the forum.... there is some great stuff on here.

Now, for my question. I live SW of Ft Wayne, about half way between Huntington and Ft. Wayne. I have a directional antenna in my attic. I get everything accept WFFT absolutely great, 80-90%. Last year when i moved in i got all the channels fine, well this fall (i only watch OTA when football starts up) Fox is about 80% for a few seconds then goes to 50% then to 0 and then back to 80 and so forth, it just keeps repeating this. Seems like there might be something interfering? Any tips would be GREATLY appreciated!

Just an FYI: DirecTV does have WFWA in HD.

Sound on NBC's Bears-Giants game didn't seem right last night. I'm set up for 5.1 and it's been really good for the ESPN, ABC and Fox sports broadcasts, but NBC seemed all messed up. WAY too much ambient crowd noise through the surround speakers, and the front speakers for the announcers could barely be heard. Not sure if it's a local problem or national. I didn't change any of my setup because it had been just right during the earlier games, so I was pretty sure it wasn't me.

You know, I hope WANE doubles or triples the size of their "Frost Advisory" map the next time this weather event happens. Took me by surprise, who would have known frost was a possibility in fall and temps in the 40s.

It was difficult to see the impending doom of my rose bushes during the start of the Colts game. Fortunately they threw that 1/3 screen banner on at the same time so I was prepared with the incoming natural disaster. I took solace in the fact that Ohio would also have to mobilize the National Guard to combat the frost.

I'm sorry, I had to laugh actually. It went away and I know no here has control of it. I just found it all a little comical.

hey gang, what's going on at channel 15-3. I see there is a new channel but only bars right now. Anyone know what they have planned?

The Cool TV.

I saw that 15-2 PSIP data was showing "The Cool Tv", but still showing the radar, with 15-3 showing the color bars.
Something "cool" going on, eh?

Yes, we brought 15.3 back online a few days ago for stream testing. The changes you see highlighted on the PSIP tables should go live sometime Monday if all goes well.....

"The Frost Advisory Channel" as requested.
FWIW, the station ID on my TV is already showing 15-2 as "WANE-SD" and 15-3 as "WANE-WX" (which usually denotes a weather station).

That, plus the digital guide is showing "The Cool Tv" in 30 minute increments on 15-2 while 15-3 is showing "Live Doppler 15 FURY" in 30 minute increments.

So I'd say that the weather radar is being moved to 15-3 and whatever "The Cool Tv" is will start showing on 15-2.

Thanks for the patience as we iron out our sub channel situation here at WANE.

15.2 went live with COOL TV this morning. Its a music video channel. The radar moved to 15.3.

We will be adjusting the streams accordingly with bit rates as we see all 3 live for a while.

Feedback is appreciated!

By the looks of it, not before the idea is abandoned.

There is an agreement with FIOS to carry the service; I don't know when for sure it will happen. As far as I know, right now there are no plans for Comcast to pick it up.
