Today WANE will be upgrading our transmitter. We will be replacing our exciters with the next generation of tuners. We hope this will result in vastly improved signal quality. While we intend to stay on the air all day today there may be a brief pause in programming as we shuffle around. Hopefully mother nature cooperates and doesn't shut it down for us...

EDIT: we were able to get the primary exciter changed and on air right now. Our signal to noise here has dramatically increased. The project will continue tomorrow.

Also, any way to allocate more bandwidth to 15-1? Some things are an mpeg mess (opening to Big Bang Theory) that never used to be.

We put the repaired encoder with built in stat mux online today. It substantially increased the bit rate to 15.1. Opening for Price is Right look MUCH better.

Am I the only one having on and off issues with PBS (39.1-39.4) and WFFT (55.1)?

The PBS issues have been sporadic for the last few months, with the last few weeks being pretty bad. WFFT's issues have only started since they re-acquired the Fox feed. I've checked at least one other TV in my house and am seeing the same issue. The only common element is that they are sharing the same roof mounted antenna. All other channels are working flawlessly and I'm about 13 miles from most of the towers.

The issues come and go- one day the channels are working fine, the next day they are extremely broken up or completely off the air.

Thanks,

~Mark

Eh.....nevermind me- started checking some cables and found that the feed from the rooftop antenna was the issue. Weird how all the other channels worked flawlessly though.

Anyways, false alarm!

Enjoyed the WANE "This is a test to see if I can do this" banner scroll for a couple minutes.

I'd love to know the back story on that one. smile.gifsmile.gif

As part of the "new" HD look our art guys made a new scroll bar for news information. Our production team was dry running earlier in the week the system. The crawl remained loaded and by accident someone bumped the mouse that just happened to be hovering over the "crawl to air" tab on our on air system.

That isn't boring, that's funny, and it happens to all of our imperfect selves in this digital age. On Facebook, there's a "Happened In The Control Room" group that has far wilder stuff on there than this.

I see today old Cheap Charlie removed WISE-DT2 on Dish. I guess even though the channel exists as basically what it was (minus Fox Network programming) they dropped it from the locals
