Last night close to midnight all 3 of my Tuning Adapters started flashing. Woke up this morning and they were still that way. Called technical support this morning and asked tech to send a hit to all 3 TAs. Initially he sent a reset + refresh hit and that didn't work. He then wanted to schedule a visit but I insisted that wasn't necessary and asked if he could send signals separately. He then sent just reset signals and that worked and now the TAs are working again (solid lights).

I had the same thing this morning, Kevin. Both of mine started working after unplugging/replugging (one of them took 3 tries). Of course, today is also my SCE "planned power outage" from 9-3 so who knows what the situation will be after I get home. Hoping for the best!
Didn't even occur to me to try unplugging as previously with this issue that didn't help, but I'll keep that in mind for next time. Cox must have triggered some kind of signal last night that affected the TAs.
I had the same problem this morning. I have two TA's and one was blinking. The other was solid, but my Tivo attached to it noted that it had "found" the TA at some point earlier, so it clearly reset as well. I un/re-plugged the blinking one, but that did not fix it. I had to call Cox to have a reset signal sent to it. After a minute or two from that point, it started working again. The Cox rep did not have an explanation, but was happy (as I was) that it was working again. smile.gif

Also note that with the TiVo "TA connected" message screen showing TiVos won't actually record anything until you dismiss that screen. So after my TAs were functional again I had to go to each of my 3 TiVos and dismiss that screen to make sure my recordings would go through today.

Hey guys, just wanted to say thanks for all the help and stuff we shared over the years. I took a new position with Boeing in the Seattle area, been up here two months. Moving the family up here in 2 weeks.

Have Comcast Internet (good stuff) and for the moment Over the Air HD (very good) but were moving into a large apartment in Issaquah so I'm setting up the Comcast Premier. It'll work until our South OC house sells and we buy up here.

Can't say I'm not happy with leaving Cox, I have so so feelings about them. Doubt Comcast will be much better, at least I've learned a lot.

Cheers!

Wacky situation here in Lake Forest. Get a letter that Cox will be doing over-might maintaince and up-grades.. No problem. Yesterday a Cox truck stops in front of my house as I have a "Box" up front. We begin talking and he says they are about done, checking all the levels from the node back thru all of the Amps. Sounds good. Says as they eliminate the "analog" channels in the future it will free up mor bandwidth so our HD channels will begin to look better. Turn on my small non HD TV about 2, snow on every Ch. that works, many are black screen. Call Cox, they said to wait, maybe work still going on. At about 5:30 I turn on the system with the HD Dvr, about half the Ch's work. I re-boot by holding the button in and un-plugging.. Now, no guide, no clock, only a few ch's work. Call Cox, she has me un-plugging, pull the cable etc, no joy, and she hangs up on me... GRRR!! Call back, wait for 20 minutes in the que, am told thy will roll a truck today, the box is off line, can't communicate.
30 minutes later, the clock starts working and the guide comes back. Check this morning and everything seems OK, at least so far... May cancel the service call...
Update: Cable was working fine on Wed. so I cancelled the service call... At 3:30 everything goes fuzzy again, and the DVR Box gets wonky I call back they schedule accall for Thur. between 3-5 pm.
Thur. morning everything is A-ok...HMMM At 3:15 yesterday it goes fuzzy again. Cox contractor shows up at about 4:20, in the window, and cks everythin.. I have little or no signal... Trace it back to the metal stool ant the curb... No signal there. Says a Maintaince Truck has to install a new "node"??? This morning, eveything is OK again and no truck has shown up yet.. I think it's heat related, as when it gets hot outside, it drops... Hope they fix it soon, late in the afternoon....
3rd update: Signal drops and video/audio drops off like clock-work every day after 3 pm... It's now Monday, and I still await Maintaince to come and replace the Node out on my curb... Calling in to Cox is quite a discouraging exercise both tfor the long waits in the que, and "Tech Support and Service and Maintaince do not communicate. IE No-one know when my problem will be repaired...... Really poor customer care, oh and I don't want an apology, I just want to get what I'm paying for...
4th update: It's now Tuesday, and no joy.. The maintaince dept apparently is not responsible, as they can't or won't roll a truck to repair the issues I'm having... Video and Intanet drops off line after 3:30 every day... Cox isn't concerned . I'm beginning to really get angry about it...Guess it's time to look at other options

Ray, try tweeting @CoxCAHelp. They've sometimes been useful in the past, and it can't hurt.
Well finally I got something done...I barked enough times, that I got a CS Rep who understood my issues. I watched it go down and then back up mid-afternoon.. They finlly rolled an experienced Tech who said the problem was at "The Fiber Node". Seems OK now... Checked my set-up and levels, recomended that I up-grade to the New Cox HD DVR as it has a bigger hard drive and Mpeg 4 capability and it gives a sharper picture. He also likes the Docsis 3 Modem up-grade.... So far so good...
Good to hear -- just out of curiosity, how many hours of HD can the latest and greatest Cox DVR hold?
Do they charge you to upgrade the DVR? The disk space is pitiful on ours, and I cannot attach an external drive.
I must be a glutton for punishment. After the experience I had last time I activated Cable Cards, you'd think I'd learn my lesson. But no, I went and picked up two more (for two new TiVos arriving tomorrow). Anyone want to make bets on how the activation will go?

I had a little scare this evening; I noticed one of my TAs was flashing. I rebooted it, and then the TiVo went to the "acquiring channel information screen" for several minutes. I thought having added more cards to the account had hosed something. But eventually it started working again, so I think at least that is ok...
And, the fun begins. Of the two tuning adapters I picked up, only one has a usable power adapter. The other one has a totally wrong adapter (the plug won't even fit in the hole). I assume someone returned the wrong adapter at some point, and they never bothered to test it before giving it out again.

Note for you Lakers fans. Currently we do not have Time Warner SportsNet on Cox and they are the network that the vast majority of Lakers games will be carried on starting this season (which starts at end of this month). So please let Cox know you want this channel. You can contact them directly or via this web page:

Not an encouraging response to my email at all:

"We are working through this process for Time Warner Cable Sports Net and
Time Warner Deportes. Time Warner is asking for one of the highest
wholesale prices that we have seen for a sports network; they also are
asking for carriage of both of their networks to most customers in
multiple formats, ultimately using a significant amount of our channel
space. If we agree to pay Time Warner so much money and giving them so
many channels, we will have less space and money for other cable
channels.

We understand that the Lakers are popular sports programming, but that
programming comes at an extremely high price. We value your feedback and
are working to keep the costs of cable television as reasonable as
possible while offering a variety of channels to meet the needs of our
customers."

Looks like we could well go without Lakers games at all this season - one of the most anticipated in years. Please make your voice heard if you haven't already.
Hell if nothing else they should offer it as a subscription channel for those that want to pay extra for it at least.
Time Warner may not be agreeing to offer it as a premium channel.
The real irony is that the Buss family (Lakers owners) really helped push the TWC deal through and now stand to lose a pretty significant TV audience especially since there will be no OTA broadcasts for LA viewers as well. i.e. No OTA broadcasts, and no deals with a huge number of cable & satellite subscribers. I don't see how that can possibly be good for the Lakers organization...

Got another email from Cox today that was a little more encouraging probably just to shut me up:

" We are currently negotiating with
Time Warner SportsNet owner, in an effort to add this station to our
channel lineup. We are hopeful that we will reach an agreement prior to
our deadline and are committed to this goal."

The Time Warner deal is bad enough, but the loss of the Ch. 9 games is terrible.. Folks that don't have cable or satellite are pretty much out of luck, except for an occasional Ch. 7 game on Sundays. The Lakers went for the big score, and quit caring about the fans. Time Warner wants almost as much per subscriber as ESPN gets from the cable co's, [and ESPN is charging too much] for the Lakers, period...I'm on the Cable and Satellite Co's side... Wait it out for a fair deal... The more they pay, the more we pay....
Yeah I think for the average viewers who don't care about the Lakers this is a bad deal and if this channel space issue is true we should be writing to tell Cox to not add it. And then just watch the Clippers.
This morning, between 1043 and 1058 or so, a lot of channels weren't accessible on my TiVo -- I got an error message about "network difficulties." Has anyone else seen the same, with or without a TiVo? This was happening on both my TiVo HD's, so it wasn't one piece of hardware that had suddenly gone bad or anything.

Thanks
It was the tuning adapters -- they were showing as offline at Cox. Who knows why the random channels were broken. Anyway, I have to say Cox was helpful in diagnosing and was patient on the phone waiting for the adapters to reboot and get back online.

Thanks for posting the info. Had the same problem and power cycling the TAs resolved it.

Latest about Lakers and Cox from Internet - LA Times

AT&T U-Verse customers won't have to worry about missing any Laker games this season.

Time Warner Cable has struck a distribution deal for its new regional sports networks SportsNet and Deportes with AT&T U-Verse, which has about 450,000 subscribers in Southern California.

The agreement is the third distribution deal Time Warner Cable has struck in two days. On Friday it reached agreements with Charter Communcations and Verizon Fios.

SportsNet and Deportes are the exclusive local home for the Los Angeles Lakers and will be carrying over 50 games this season. An additional 25 games will be available on TNT, ESPN and ABC.

The new sports service still needs to sign deals with Cox Cable and DirecTV, two of the largest pay-TV operators in the region. Cox and DirecTV are both playing hardball with Time Warner Cable. Each initially offered to carry the channels on a specialty tier that subscribers would have to pay extra to receive. Time Warner Cable rejected that offer as it wants the two channels in as many homes as possible.
The first Lakers game on SportsNet and Deportes is Wednesday against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Time will tell but does not look good for beginning of season.
At least it's good that U-Verse has signed on as they are one of the competitors to Cox in this region, so puts the pressure on Cox to get it done.
I hope so, be interesting to see what happens this week coming up.
My TiVos reported a lineup change tonight for the TWC sports channel!
DELETED
713 NBCSOC
714 NBCBSK

ADDED
1065 TWCSNHD
65 TWCSNSD
85 TWCDP

None of the ADDED channels tune yet but certainly a good sign!

EDIT: I tried rebooting TAs but it seems clear Cox is not actually broadcasting these channels yet as there is no signal on them. Hopefully they will get it done this week and we only miss tonight's game.
