One odd note about the Adelphis STB. It is a Sci Atlanta 3250. I helped a friend get his set up correctly for his Samsung HDTV (although a 4*3!).
It will not do 4*3 SD channels correctly with component video. You get boxing on ALL 4 sides. If you run a s-video or even regular coax to the TV it is normal. However, you then need to change back & forth video inputs on the TV.
We decided to use the coax from the STB to the coax input on the TV. It of course did nomal 4*3 SD on the 4*3 TV. HOWEVER, when we tune to the HD channels (CBS & NBC), we could STILL view them even though manual says that coax, s-video & composite will only output SD. The HD channels still looked much better than the SD versions using the coax. Also the HD channels still were appropriately LB on the 4*3 TV.
We then switched back & forth between coax & component viewing the HD channels. Well, they looked the SAME!! So even though the coax is not supposed to do HD, the HD channels could be viewed & they seemed to look just as good as the component input!
