The Findlay station is most likely WFND-LP on UHF 22. It's basically an America One repeater.

That makes sense.

That's the one, it's very fuzzy too.

Now that CBET/9 Windsor has gone digital...

Is anyone in NW Ohio or along the lake in generally getting them OTA now?

I read somewhere that Buckeye, after a brief outage right after the switch, fixed CBET on cable...is that correct?

The CBET-DT transmitter is located in McGregor, ON, which is south by southeast of Downtown Windsor about 10 miles; it's about 45 miles to Toledo, most of them over Lake Erie. I'd think anyone in the Toledo area with an outdoor antenna could receive CBET, especially those close to the water.

They flash cut to digital around midnight on 9/1, same VHF channel 9.

Yep, I'm aware of that...all of that. I'm just wondering how the switch has affected OTA reception in Toledo/NW Ohio...and a confirmation of what I've read elsewhere, that Buckeye has fixed the CBET feed post-flash cut.

We used to get CBET on Time Warner Cable but they took it off a few years ago. I actually enjoyed watching it too, we used to get a few locals from other markets.
CBET Windsor
TheCW 50 Detroit
MyNetwork Cleveland
and people in Findlay got CBS Columbus but I'm pretty sure all of the above is now gone.

Last year we still got TheCW50 of QAM on cable but I think it's gone now.

Correct, at least as it pertains to CBET and WBNS/Columbus. They both went away at about the same time, as TWC trimmed out of market locals. (Same process zapped WQLN/Erie off TWC systems in extreme NE Ohio, though complaints led them to offer WQLN on a digital tier later.)

I actually stopped and stayed in Findlay on a road trip based solely on the availability of CBET on analog cable.

When? Was it still available? I wasn't sure if CBET went as far south as Findlay, we had it on TWC in North Baltimore but it's the Bowling Green TWC market which differs slightly from the Findlay one (at least it did).

Anybody hear anything about if Buckeye is going to be getting ESPN 3D ?

My road trip was about 2-3 years ago. I specifically asked the hotel if it had cable and if CBET/CBC was in the lineup.

I'm reading elsewhere that Buckeye may be having weather related problems picking up CBET's new digital signal.

I used to work in Findlay. I know CBET was on channel 19 until I left in January '06.

DCX3400 with External HD? I had to turn in my Pace Micro due to an issue and all Buckeye had was the Moto DCX3400. The DVR has an eSATA port and they assured me it was active.
I have a reformated WD DVR Expander eSATA only drive that I connected when I set up the new drive and after taking a while with no messages the DVR booted up and I was able to get into the service menu in the usual way. It shows 2 drives connected by when selecting drive two it shows System N/A, DVR N/A, etc and while it shows as 500GB it doesn't appear to be shown as used. I had some recordings already on the 3400 at 25% and with the add on drive it is still showing 25%. Does anyone kknow the trick to get the DCX3400 to not only know that there's a second drive connected but properly format it an use the space? I tried this a couple times and unlike the Pace it doesn't give you a message option to format the external drive on boot up when it first sees the external drive so you don't know if it's formatting automatically or not.
Thanks.

Two things, speaking about Buckeye here in both cases:

1. Does NFL Redzone just look AWFUL for anyone else? I'm seeing lines, boatloads of chroma noise, smearing, and way more artifacting than normal for cable. Anyone have a different provider and does it look decent?

2. On NBC, anyone getting a weird "moving" audio? Don't know how else to describe it, and it's usually during commercials (during Sunday Night Football; don't watch anything else on NBC). The audio just begins switching channels at random across the fronts. Dialogue seems to be warping across the room. I'm also hearing this over the air, so I'm assuming it's the network feed.

Number, one, not sure, dont get that channel.

Number two, I know exactly what you are talking about. Almost like the voices on commercials are going from front to rear to front. I am 99% sure that is a problem with wnwo's master control. If you notice, it only happens during local commercial breaks, and not with national spots.

At least it's not just me then. I'll listen again this week, but I'd swear it was during any commercial, not just the local stuff.

I'm at my sisters house right outside North Baltimore (it's across the county line in Hancock county so technically it's Van Buren).

Anyway on one of her TVs that doesn't have a DirecTV set-to-box channels WADL (38.1, .2, .3 and .4) show up. Also, from time to time she can even recieve Fort Wayne stations.

I just found this strange that the antenna they have has such a great range. I'm pretty sure that her husband bought it on eBay (before that had DTV) and it's in the attic. I know at my brother house in Perrysburg that Detroit locals down show up, I assume his antenna isn't as good because it doesn't have to be to receive all the Toledo stations.

I just worked a ESPN 3D football game... Don't be surprised to see ESPN drop the 3D channel. It is supported by Sony, who supplied most of the gear.
That contract runs out in approx six months. Right now 3D production is expensive and to do it right, and it means facilities have to give TV more "right of ways" I'll call them. And that's great for a one offs, but for every show... the camera position requirements will upset the venues.

I am not that impressed with 3D TV anyway...

"I am not that impressed with 3D TV anyway..."

Neither am I - and predict it is a short lived fad.
I have a 3D TV in my bedroom and I never even bought the glasses. It really doesn't interest me. I've seen a movie in 3D and didn't care for it much.

3D done well is spectacular. I have a calibrated 3D projector and at 106" 3D can blow you out of the room. There is a hardcore 3D following (try AVS 3D forum) that insures that is goes way beyond a fad. Several major directors have now produced 3D films and the recent results are incredible.

On Thanksgiving I had some 3D skeptics sit down in the theater room and watch some 3D blurays. They were converted

Well yeah, 3D done right is probably awesome. Most (average consumer) set ups are 42" to 60" HDTVs then it just doesn't seem as cool. It's a much more immersive experience in a movie theater or some place with a very large display.

Sounds like you've got an awesome theater room.

Looks like Buckeye is getting a new guide:

http://www.marketwatch.com/story/buc...nes-2011-11-15

Who knows how long it will be. I will ask some contacts I have at Buckeye and see if they have a timeline.
Of course, as soon as I ditch Buckeye's DVR for a cablecard tuner for my computer, they get a new guide with the one feature I wanted: the ability to schedule recordings via a phone or computer.

This is still an open question that I'd like to know the answer to.

The DirecTV HD guide is STILL in beta. I have friends with TWC and their guide is still awful, at least the DirecTV guide fills a 16x9 screen and makes use of it. Not only that it's fast but somewhat boring looking.

I just got an antenna to play with and I can never receive and TV stations from the Detroit/Windsor area. I heard it was because the strength of the Toledo stations overpowers them but I have been able to receive stations from Cleveland, Columbus, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, Dayton, Cincinnati and Lansing. I only got those at night though, I usually only get Lima/Toledo.

However, I never had problems receiving FM stations like 88.7 (CIMX) and 101.1 (WRIF), I also listen to 800am (Windsor) and 760 (Detroit). I wish TWC would of never taken away CBC Windsor and The CW50 Detroit.

Question about the new guide. Will I be able to keep my Moto boxes and just do an update to the new guides? The Moto boxes have firewire out and that is a very good thing

My antenna also isn't very big. I bought it with the intentions of just messing around with it, it's the RCA ANT751R with a Winegard 8275 pre-amp (which I probably shouldn't of bought).

During normal daytime use I just get the usual Toledo/Lima stations.

I heard back from my contact at Buckeye. The guide is pretty far off. We are looking at perhaps sometime next year. Who knows at this point, I got the impression that there wasn't any testing even happening yet.

The new guide is capable of running on current hardware, according to what I have read. So I assume that it would keep firewire as an output option. I will be sure to pass that request along to my contact when the time comes for testing.
