It has made a definite improvement in reception on both of the ATSC tuners I have hooked up. My antenna (an old uhf/vhf combo that was in the attic when we bought the house in 2001) has a three way splitter in the attic (1-3db loss and 2-7db losses). I take the 3db line and split it again behind the den TV to got to my TiVo and the Accurian 6000 ATSC tuner, so I'm looking at around 7db loss at each tuner, with a 12 db pre-amp just after the antenna, so I am gaining about 5db. I also have my RS U75-R mounted on the East end of the house that feeds another TiVo.
The ViP622 locks all 5 digital stations pretty well now (KLBK pixellates occasionally), my Accurian locks all but KLBK most of the time, and for some reason the Accurian has trouble with KTXT occasionally. I think I'm getting some multipath in the attic (probably from the A/C ducting) because KTXT signal is bouncing on my 622 from 80 to 0 and back occasionally.
I'm not sure exactly where Llano Estates is, but KLBK and KAMC are very weak transmissions (less than 1 kW) and you will probably have trouble getting them, all the rest are pretty easy to receive. I don't know if a CM 4228 would fix all that or not (KCBD is on frequency ch9 so it might create a problem there).
