Now Showing - What We Watched - Page 18

After reading the last few posts, I had to launch another search party to go look for the lost Bruce Almighty DVD that I posted on a few pages back. I totally knocked the seats over and shook them. From inside the reclining mechanism of the left-most seat came the long lost Bruce!! I'm so relieved! That was driving me nuts!

And now from the viewing report:

Friday night: We went over to a friend's house and there we watched Freddy vs Jason. The only thing I want to say about this is I'm glad I didn't waste my bulb on it. Then again, I knew what to expect. I just wish I hadn't spent my precious time on it.

Saturday night: The wife and I watched Once Upon A Time In Mexico. I'm a fan of El Mariachi and Desperado. This one was no different. If you are into that sort of thing, this is GREAT. The color temp of this DVD is sky high. At first I thought I had lost my calibration. That high temp gives it a certain mood that goes well with the film. Salma is lovely as ever, wish there was more of her. I rented this one, but now I'm inclined to go to Bestbuy and pick up all three.

Today: You already know! I'll let you know how it went tomorrow.

Good luck to all on your Superbowl parties!

Hey Markito, you don't need to know much to enjoy The Superbowl. All you have to do is repeat after me: Go Pats! (repeat 10 times really loud after every play) add alcohol liberally and enjoy!

Watched "Resident Evil". Hmm, not the best movie, but the sound was good, which is really the reason I rented it in the first place. Also watched "Perfect Storm" again, and that movie is always a good one. We also watched "Once upon a time in Mexico" When is Antonio gonna get too old to make these movies?? Bought "Darkness Falls" Great movie, and the sound is somethings else too. Didn't know which was the "Tooth Fairy" was coming at you. Check this one out if only for the sound. Tonight we're going to see "Ice Age". Heard it's a good one....we'll see.

We just finished X2 on DTheater with 15 present. I'd say that this is as good as home theater images get at this time and a good flick. I enjoyed it more than the first.

Well, The Pats won!!

I must say though, they drove me to drink. Heavily!

I'll tell you how it went as soon as I sober up.

Well GUS, your boys did it! What an incredible game! So much better than when past SB's have been blow outs. It was fun to see the scoring go back and forth.

I had about 25 people over for the SB party and the big game in High Definition on the 12-foot screen was a very big hit. People couldn't stop commenting on how this is how the game is supposed to be watched.

It was a fun night.

The game looked great in HD. It certainly makes me hungry for more HD content (and an HD TiVO!

Picked up 3 to watch with my Hollywood video .99 coupons on Friday, first was Punch Drunk Love, although alittle strange I enjoyed it. Then watched Once apon a Time in Mexico, I really enjoyed the extras showing Robert Rodriguez home studio where he works on his films. My son watched Underworld with me, I always have enjoyed Vampire flicks and thought this one, while not perfect, was pretty good.
After the Super Bowl watched the first two episode of Band of Brothers. I saw Band of Brothers on HBO when it came out but missed some episodes and have never seen it in sequence, nor on a big screen. I need to buy this as it is the kind of stuff you can watch over and over again.
What was with the Janet Jackson breast exposure at half time?? Not that I am complaining. I did a double take and checked with my wife and she confirmed, yes there was full exposure! Some pretty lame excuses in the paper this morning, my favorite was Justin Timberlakes " costume malfunction" line.

Was a busy weekend for movie viewing.

Friday night:

Memento-The plot of this movie wouldn't work in a normal linear movie telling fashion. However, the way its told in this movie works perfectly. excellent flick!

Played some Unreal Tournament 2003. too bad the games I enjoy playing the most on the computer/PJ require the dexterity of a squirrel on speed. That remark was in no way an attempt to insult any drug addicted forest creatures that may be reading this!

saturday- Watched el Mariachi and Desperado. Both very good films. Obviously there was a big jump in PQ/SQ between the two films, but the story in both was very good. I even tried watching el Mariachi without the subtitles and I could almost understand what was being said. I can't wait until Once upon a time in Mexico comes in the mail.

Sunday- Movie night for me and my wife. We watched SWAT. All I can say is that it sounded really good. Should have saved Memento for our movie night.

There was also this football game that was on. It seemed to be a big deal.

Unfortunately I don't have high def yet so I watched it in standard def. on the small 65" I know a PJ and a 65" Mits but no high def. Hopefully for my birthday!

later,

Don

Ouch, you guys!

Am I the only Panther fan out here?????

Great game, biased reporting (never even showed our cheerleaders - we have better teeth and cuter girls), lousy half time, great preshow.

We'll be back next year!
Go Carolina Panthers!

...And biased refs. Me and you BOTH know that was a fumble and without bad calling, the scores may have shifted by 14 points.

If The Panthers have another season like they just had, I must agree, they deserve to win it all! I'll make a deal with you. You root for the Sox and I'll root for the Cats!

Ok, done argueing about un-spilled milk.

My football party was a complete success. We all ate and drank like rabid dogs. Tom and Adam drove me to drink profusely before they made the exclamation that "they are not the pesky, teasing Red Sox" and they would indeed redeem us before the world. ( I feel like I may not need psycho-therapy after all ).

There were 10 guys. The girls, who had initially said they wanted to watch, decided to have their own little bash upstairs. This was great, because in their absence, we could be as loud and obnoxious as we wanted to be. We got to swill alcohol till we got our collective fill without getting that little nodge with the elbow.

Aside from the annoying volume changes when the commercials came on, the presentation was flawless. I got a bunch of compliments from two or three guys that hadn't been here before.

One guy, my brother's neighbor, expected that what my brother meant was a 60" TV when he told him we were going to see it on a "big screen". He was in hog heaven.

The only dissapointment was that I chose a very bad time to hit the bathroom. I went during the imfamous "Costume Malfuction"!!!

WOW.

I must agree with you that it was tacky and out of place.

I must say though, WTF???

Tobacco is killing millions of people and the goverment wants to prosecute THIS?

Gus
absolutely this is ludicrous !!!!personally i don't think they'll be able to prove it was a purposeful act.

without changing this threads purpose what about music videos in general!!!g-strings and thongs with butts shaking all over the place..that's okay though even knowing many kids watch these videos..go figure.

I just want to know how the situation on the boob-tube ends up.

We watched "Rear Window" last night. The last time I saw this movie was a few years ago on LD. When it comes to suspense, Alfred Hitchcock is the King!

A few nights back we watched "Jurassic Park". I enjoyed it better this time around on my 92" screen then when I saw it some years back on a RPTV . We also watched "The Lost World: Jurassic Park". This was the first time we seen this one and was somewhat disappointed in the story line . I don't know if this script was written by the same person or not, but the story sure seemed not to have the same style as the first movie. We have not seen the 3rd one yet, so I am hoping that it is not even worst then the second one, which is the case with a lot of sequels (they just keep getting worse).

Last night we watched League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
Sean Connery still has what it takes. I love his accent, and Mrs. Harkers imitation of him is a classic.

The wife was out of town, so after getting the kids to bed I got a twice rare chance: a midweek movie and I get to pick!

So I watched "The Score" - pretty good caper movie. Frankly, I like anything with Ed Norton in it and most anything that De Niro (except for his comedies).

You mean you didn't like "Meet The Parents"?!! I thought DeNiro was great in that.

Another unusual role for him, although not a comedy, was "Flawless".
I agree, "Meet The Parents" is excellent!
They are soon getting the gang back together (including DeNiro) to do the sequel, "Meet The Fockers"! Barbara Streisand is considering playing Ben Stiller's mom!

Nope, can't stand that (or most of Ben Stiller's stuff). Nor do I care for Jim Carey, Adam Sandler, the American Pie series, . . .

The one De Niro comedy I LOVED was Wag the Dog. Brilliant.
