Panny CV51 Compatibility

Thread Starter
The gang over at DVD Players suggested I come here as well with my question.

I'm looking at getting a DVD burner form my PC. I'm leaning towards either the Sony DRU-500A, Memorex or equivalent. From what I've read my PC is just strong enough to do the job (specs below). What I'm concerned about is whether or not my Panny DVD-CV51 will read the disks. Panny claims no but other places say don't sweat it. Any help will be appreciated. I don't want to get something that I can't read.

Dell XPS-700r
Intel PIII 700 (soon to be bumped to a 1.4 GB Powerleap)
256 RAM
40 GB, 11GB free

According to DVDRhelp.com, the Panasonic CV51 plays DVD±R/RW.

You might want to add more RAMs (512MB at least) and definitely more HDD.
