Audiophile 24/96 Need some serious help here.

OK, I am having a heck of a time with my Maudio card on one little issue...

How in the heck to I get CDs to play through the SPDIF port?
Right now that is the only sound output from my HTPC to the sound processor.

Now I keep hearing about the WDM drivers for the MAudio. What are they and what are the pros and cons of installing them versus the regular drivers?

So far, the Dolby Digital and the DTS are working great through PowerDVD, but that is the only sound I get from my computer through the SPDIF.

Please please help.

Thanks,

Cameron

Hi Cameron:

___What SW CD player and M-Audio drivers are you using? The latest M-Audio drivers are auto switching between PCM and DD/DTS streams. This should cure you of your problem if you are using an ancient M-Audio driver and not manually swapping between the Consumer PCM and the Professional DD/DTS Non-audio setups. Secondly, what CD-Audio player are you using? If you use WinAmp, you will more than likely need the CD-Audio plugin. The latest Siren Express and Music Match Jukebox have been used with great success as well.

Thanks for the reply!

I have the latest drivers. I am just using the windows CD player right now. I also have a SB Live card and I think that the output is going to that one. I guess that I can try the WinAmp solution. My Maudio card didn't come with any other software besides drivers.

Does anybody know anything about the WDM drivers and what they do?

Thanks,

Cameron
