I've got four 3030's which I use on feature film sets. They've performed flawlessly under most extreme conditions (high temp, humidity and dust) but the only real problem I've had is that all of them will sometimes refuse to open the tray, or when they do open, they'll sometimes close then open then close then open then finally close. This may repeat itself several times, then behave normally for awhile. Sometimes when they close, they automatically shut down and after reseting, come back to life.

I've opened them up, blasted out the crud (which amazingly is just a thin layer of dust, not unlike what you'd get having it in the house for awhile) yet no real change to this little problem.

Is it advisable to open up the transport unit itself and try to remove any debris myself, or should I just send the whole lot to the shop and let them deal with it? These units are out of warranty, so I'm outta luck there.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Roger
