I have seen in at least 2 ads that the Magnavox 630 DVD recorder has component inputs+outputs. Can anyone tell me if I can use the inputs to simply record from my Hughes HDTV set-top-box?? How about progressive scan DVD pictures?? My main concern is the HDTV compatability.Thanx in advance!!!!!

Here's a link to the Magnavox Manual:

http://www.dvdplusrw.org/video/manua...50r_manual.pdf

From Page 27:

"Can I also connect devices with 'Progressive scan'?
The IN COMPONENT VIDEO jacks are only used for 'interlaced'
signals. Signals using progressive scan cannot be processed by the DVD
recorder."

So, you'll have to set your Hughes box to output 480i from the component (if it can). You will NOT be recording HD. You should be able to get a DVD quality recording (assuming SP Mode).

Also, if the Hughes box throws out a "copy protected" indication, recording will not be possible.

the Hughes and my 3100hd cable box put out 1080i (as in interlaced). I wonder if it will record those 1080interlaced images???
