What kinda surprises me is that Comcast goes to the expense of rebuilding our system but doesn't build in enough capacity in to go beyond the 115 +/- HD channels we currently have. Very shortsighted.
Although I have all the movie channels, and don't like losing a single one, I've come to see that we now tend to go to OnDemand and watch stuff from there. OnDemand selections have improved from my standpoint.
I only hope the any new HDs are ones that are popular versus Game Show Network or the Knitting Channel HD.

I only have the Starz package and it seems like everytime I tune there the same stuff is showing all the time, is it not the same way for the other packages mostly? Save for the few tv shows that are on the "premium" movie channels.

Its not a matter of building in capacity. There is a finite amount of usable spectrum space. Its about using the space as efficiently as possible. The available space is going towards expanding VOD and Internet capacity as well as new video services.

The official notification regarding which channels will be added/dropped will be sent out on the 28th. Also Look for a HD channel realignment in the next few months as well.

Anyone playing online games in the area experiencing random lag? Since about June 15th I've been getting hit with random lag while gaming. I finally just ran a ping -t on the gateway IP given in my modem config and it showed that I was timing out every couple minutes.

I feel confident that I've done proper troubleshooting on my end and I've posted on the Comcast forums so I'm hoping to see a response from there. Just wondering if others are seeing the same or if there is a known issue.

I don't know if anyone else is experiencing this, but over the past couple weeks I have noticed on ESPN2 the audio surround channels are very scratchy. Not getting the same audio signal as from the front. Its almost like a high pitched scratchy version of the signal from the front. Every other channel sounds fine.

Yup - I noticed it and it is very irritating. I noticed it mostly on certain commercials. I would get a tinny sound from my surrounds.

I wonder if its from espn2 specifically or comcast's feed of it. I hear it during races. Sounds like f1 cars are driving thru metal pipes.

Got my letter from Comcast announcing the new channels.
It also tells about the new locations for HDs - 1001-1999.
The letter says they will be in their old locations and new starting July 28th, with the old going away by Halloween.

C-SPAN HD 1125
BBC Ammerica HD 1225
Nat. Geo Wild HD 1262
Cooking Ch. HD 1281
DIY HD 1291
GSN HD 1325
Ovation HD 1345

That really sucks. As someone, like myself, who has HBO, Starz, Max, & Showtime and pay through the a$$ for it to have them take away those premium HD stations I expect to see my bill go down. If not, I'll be calling to see about having it happen.

It is not really two discreet feeds for each channel at the new and old channel locations. You can have infinite amount of virtual channels for the same feed and its still the same amount of bandwidth. Think of the channels on the digital boxes as shortcuts to the actual frequency and service. If I create another shortcut on your box to ABC HD on channel 1001, I haven't really used any more space.

The only new HD channel I'm happy we are getting is BBC America HD. Can't believe we're going from 8 MAX HD feeds to 2.

I get what you're saying.

Is there a way to get a line-up of the upcoming new channel locations? Before July 28th?

Any timetable for the new iguide roll out in Nashville? Will we need new boxes?

I like the new variety. I'll enjoy BBC, Ovation, IndiePlex, and RetroPlex. Unfortunately, they'll probably carry copy protection flags so I can't take recordings with me when I travel.

Anybody watching The Killing and Men of a Certain Age? How's your picture quality over Comcast?

I noticed The Killing was extremely grainy and figured since it is Seattle and rainy so much that maybe the grainy picture was intentional to give a gloomy feel. But last night we watched the first episode of the season for Men of a Certain Age and found the video quality to be horrible, just extremely grainy.

We haven't had this issue with movies or broadcast channels so just wondering if any others are seeing this.

Not sure about The Killing on AMC but Men of a Certain Age airs on TNT which is not compressed at all in the Nashville market. It may have been shot that way or over-compressed at the broadcaster.

I asked here why we didn't get a new channel line up as part of the letter we received announcing the 10 new HDs coming in 4 weeks.
I'm curious to see it, as it would be nice to become familiar with the new HD numbering system.
I remember getting one, in fact several, when the new HDs came last year.

I've emailed Comcast directly asking for this and in typical Comcast fashion was sent a link to the current, on line, Comcast channel line up. The email said any changes will be reflected as soon as they occur. Geez...

Not really a comcast issue, but a local one...why didn't someone pick up the nashville fireworks? A few years ago CBS had the live feed and it was amazing. Much better picture and sound than any of the other cities with live feeds then. The helicopter was very nice. So we're now forced to watch either new york, boston, or d.c. if we want to watch fireworks.

They did and succeeded in pretty much keeping it a secret. WKRN ran it on the WX subchannel over the air and on cable but they only announced it on their late Sunday and Monday morning newscasts which are watched by about ten people.

The telecast was, of course, in SD and without the music track. It looked like it was shot by a photog with a shoulder held camera and you were evidently expected to find the accompanying music on some radio station.

At least Channel 2 tried. Channels 4 and 5 with deeper pockets and better equipment gave it a pass.

Does anybody else have a problem with the Palladia HD channel via Comcast STB? I continuously get the black screen w/ 'Channel should be available shortly', but it comes in with no issue via my TiVo box.

This is almost always caused from ingress, RF interference from FM radio, somewhere in the home or outside lines. There are a few channels (Palladia HD, Showtime HD, SD MTV networks, nick jr, etc) that sit in the FM spectrum and will have these problems if everything connection/cable is not sealed properly.
