One more question - if I'm on "Digital Preferred," am I supposed to get the Encore channels?

Reasonably sure that we always get national. Past few times I have called I get people from somewhere else. I always get transferred to nashville if I have a specific question.

No. You'll need to pay extra.

Okay - I got answers to my questions this morning.

I called 244-6222 and treed my way to a cable rep. They took all my info and found out that somehow my cable card had been disassociated from my account. Hence, the new channels (BBCAHD and the rest) weren't entered into their system correctly. After half an hour of reading numbers, the rep said they needed to check with their cable card team, and they'd be in within the hour.

Three hours later, they called back, and asked for my numbers again. Re-read them, they re-entered them, and refreshed, and boom, there are all my channels, PLUS the Encores. They are included in Digital Preferred.

I just now spent ten minutes deleting the old HD channels from my Channel List on my TivoHD and deleting the SD versions of the new channels. First impressions:
  • The list on page 114 of this thread was invaluable. Comcast never sent me a channel list.
  • The 1002, 1004, 1005 and 1006 are nice to have.
  • I love weather on 1111.
  • I wish we had the option to include the SD feeds of channels we don't get in HD in the 1000 series. For instance, make NC5+ and WTVFDT3 in the channel range above the locals. It's weird to have single digit SD versions, triple digit digital channels, and quadruple digit HD versions.
  • Same thing for things like Weatherscan local, the Nick variants, the MTV variants, etc.
  • Is Xfininty 3D 2 going away? (I don't have a 3D TV yet, so I'm not that worried about this one.)

All in all, a good change, and good, albeit slow service from Comcast.

Yes, Encore is part of Digital Preferred.

There is a Comcast regional call center in Nashville and you will typically get local reps from the 244-5900 number...not sure about the 244-6222 number.

244-6222 is the number from when they were Intermedia. I've been in Nashville for a while now!!

Neither am I. Specifically, aim not getting any channel from Channel 85 up except for local HD.

Same problem here in Hendersonville (37075). Can get the local HD channels in the 1000 block, and channels under ~100, but that's it. Failed channels give the S0A00 error. Last update on the automated account info at 244-6222 around 6PM said it should be resolved around 7PM. Guess that didn't happen. Been getting a busy signal the few times I've tried calling since 7PM.

Same in murfreesboro. This is horrible. I have little to no desire to watch anything in SD. When I called around 4 a recording said the estimated time for being fixed was 5:16. That's almost like having a 31 MPH speed limit (hello trenton, tn). Tried doing the auto reset signal which has worked before but this time no luck.

That time has come and gone and I spent 20 more minutes on hold to get someone to tell me to unplug for a minute and during that minute my cell dropped the call. Very frustrating. Hoping this gets worked out soon. My son is a Top Shot addict and it is on in less than an hour.

Ahhhhh success! Hd back on! I guess all it took was a few posts here on AVS to know we're serious!

Well I spoke too soon...partially. I have some hd back. Nbc and abc are back up but history isn't. Having to watch top shot in sd for now. haven't checked the other channels yet. Hoping all is back to normal tomorrow.

Checked before I left for work at 6AM. A couple of channels are back, but for the majority of them I'm still experiencing the outage. Oh well, it just gives me time to catch up on Mad Men via Netflix, at least until the internet goes out as well...

Odd you all were having the problem early. Mine was fine last evening (37205) but I was recording a movie overnight and it stopped at 12:04 AM and was still out when I left home this morning. I get some channels but not others. No rhyme or reason to which ones I'm getting as far as I can tell.

You're getting the preferred zip code plan where they won't take tv away from you during peak times

Just kidding. In all honesty I realize this is probably due to the upgrades they're going thru, but at the same time we have had quite a few outages in the past few months. It seems that between cable and electricity if we get a slight breeze in Murfreesboro something goes out.

I've actually been considering satellite. I keep seeing the free Sunday ticket commercial and its very tempting. Very. I've been with comcast/intermedia/whoever personally for 14 years and before that when I was a kid we always had cable. Well, except when I was very young and remember having horrible nights in front of the tv when the president was on and took all 3 channels.

I have both a Tivo HD and Tivo Premiere, each with an M cablecard in them. I am now missing the following HD channels, when I was receiving them since the 4-digit channels started a few weeks ago.

1530 ABCFamily HD
1341 Style HD
1325 Game Show Network HD
1290 HGTV HD
1270 History HD
1240 Universal HD
1225 BBC America HD
1222 G4 HD
1206 TNT HD

Should I even both calling Comcast? Or just wait for them to sort things out, since it seems it isn't just me?

I have the same Tivo boxes as you and I'm going to wait. From my experience in the original set-up of my cable cards, I don't have confidence I'd get anyone on the phone that knows what to do. In fact, it wouldn't suprise me if they'd break something that isn't broken.

The problem may even be resolved by now. I won't know until I get home tonight.

Glad to see I'm not the only one experiencing this, good ol' AVS. Well, I have a few of the 1000 zone channels back but as the above poster noted these are still out, plus HUB, which has become a fast favorite/life saver in this house. I guess I won't bother calling Comcast now, they are probably inundated with calls.

I first checked about 5PM in H'ville, and at that time all the channels seemed to be working for me, and still are. Hopefully the rest of you are good to go as well.

Channels seem to be back... and you're right--calling just invites the opportunity for them to mess up something else. They really don't like offering any useful support for CableCards, do they?

I would guess this was some kind of planned outage for an upgrade. It appears my complete line-up was restored sometime yesterday afternoon. I wonder how much of a credit Comcast will give us on our next bills for this outage.
My guess would be an increase since they had to work on it.
Yeah, I forgot to add the sarcasm tag.

Hmm - take away premium HD stations, don't lower our price, have many go 'black' for 1/2 a day and then .............yup..........Comcast! Alienating one customer at a time!

Is WKRN beginning an HD transition? I missed last week's Titan's game so I was a little surprised this week not only to see it in HD but also HD bumpers and commercials for WKRN's News2 broadcasts. But the news broadcast that follows is still in SD.

WKRN is making the switch to HD News. They have been posting pictures of the new HD news set on facebook. You can click here to see it.

It's a guess, but they may be waiting until the new TV season kicks off in late September to debut everything.
WZTV is also going with HD news, also soon.

I wish the new set was less traditional, not much "wow" factor. Still, it looks far better than WSMV's set.
