I have been watching the Redzone channel and noticing a lot picture quality issues. Colors distorted and lines in the picture. It's not really noticable during games but on a dark image you can see all kinds of problems. Other channels fine. Is this a Comcast problem or a NFL redzone problem?

Anyone getting a signal on CSS HiDef channel - 294?

I didn't have any issues watching it yesterday.

I just got the Xfinity mailing which lists the new 4-digit channel numbers. Will TiVo Season Pass channel numbers be updated automatically at some point? I have over 50 SPs on each of two TiVos, and it will be a pain to create new SPs with the 4-digit channel numbers.

(My apologies if this has already been answered.)

Edit: I did a more thorough search and found that this has been discussed. The new channel numbers are already in my TiVo menu. On the channel list in Settings, I unchecked an old number for one of the channels, and the Season Pass upcoming episodes to be recorded for that channel showed the new 4-digit number.

However, the Season Pass list shows the old channel numbers. Does anyone know these SPs will still work when the 3-digit numbers go away (Oct. 24)? To get the SPs to show the 4-digit channel numbers, is it going to be necessary to create new SPs?

OK - once again Palladium and Showtime are no longer working on just one TV!! I haven't changed anything to my system/set-up so why is this all-of-a-sudden now happening? Any advice/suggestions on how to get it fixed please let me know. And of all the TVs - it's the one the main line comes into!

There is a signal ingress problem somewhere near your setup...either outside or in. This is a very common problem, and you should call Comcast to have a tech come out to fix it.

Well, here's a weird problem. I had top gear on bbc america set to record late last night and a one our program yielded 17 recordings on my dvr. Recording was interrupted that many times. And this morning the guide only goes out to 3pm.

Yup - and after spending three hours at my house things are finally fixed...again...

If you haven't already - I suggest you power off the box and then turn it on. Several boxes had issues with the drop of the 3 digit HD stations.

Is it possible to get deep color working with the cable box?
Thanks

I'm hoping that someone with recent experience activating cable cards for Comcast in Nashville can give me some advice. It's been several years since I had to go through this with my two TiVos.

I'm thinking of replacing my TiVo HD with a TiVo Premiere. The HD has a single multi-stream cable card. Questions are:

Can I just remove the M-card from the HD and put it in the new TiVo? I imagine that it will have to be reactivated.

What's the simplest way of contacting Comcast to activate the card for the new equipment? (I seem to remember that there may be a special phone number where you are more likely to reach someone that knows what they are doing.)

Get a hold of someone who is knowledgeable about cable cards since I've found very few who know just what to do.

PM me when you are ready to have them paired.

I have limited basic cable and a Tivo Premiere with an M-card. Up until last week my local HD channels were on 231 (ABC), 232 (NBC), 233 (CBS), 234 (FOX), and 235 (CW). The Tivo Guide information correctly listed shows on these channel numbers.

Late last week the Guide information switched to 1002 (ABC), 1004 (NBC), 1005 (CBS), 1006 (FOX), and 1018 (CW) and the old channel numbers no longer have any Guide information. But my Tivo continues to say "Channel not available" for all of the 4-digit local HD channel numbers and those stations still work correctly except for no Guide information on the original 3-digit local HD channel numbers.

So I can watch the shows on 231..236 but not 1002-1018. None of my season passes work and I can't use the Guide at all.

Does anyone have any idea why this would happen and how I can get it fixed? I called Comcast and the first guy said my cable card wasn't paired so he transferred me to cable card support where the lady said that my cable card was already paired and properly programmed. When she tried to transfer me back to the normal support I got cut off. I will call them again tomorrow but I'd love to get it fixed without wasting another hour on the phone with Comcast.

Could the analog filter that they put on the line since I have limited basic service be affecting the 1000-range channel numbers?

having a recurring problem with DCX3400 DVR not recording some programmed events: DVR is only 30% full...but it will ignore correctly programmed events about 50% of the time. today...had it set up to record Titans game on 1005...with a start time 5 minutes before noon...and an extra hour added to the end (normal routine for me). at 10:30am this morning, I double-checked "scheduled recordings"...and everything looked good. it did not record (but my wife was able to manually start recording). I upgraded to the 3400 because my previous DVR (6416) did the same thing. maybe I need to say "please" out loud when I program it. anyone else haviling similiar problems?

Afanofosc -

I am having the exact same problem with one of my Tivos. The guide is for the new channel locations, but no picture. The old channels have picture but no information. That's on one of my Tivos. On another, the transition was fine. All the channels and guide information moved to the 1000s without a hitch, save that my season passes did not change with them. I probably just need Comcast to send a rep, but they are so hit or miss with cable card and Tivo experience.

Both tivo's the same model?

It seems to me that it (the problem I am having as described above) really has to be something about the way the cablecard is programmed. The channel tuning surely is entirely up to whether the cablecard thinks you should get a particular channel and then whether it can interpret the signal on a particular channel. But I am definitely not experienced with how this all works.

I just need to know what to ask the comcast folks to do over the wire to get it to work. Last night I called 3 more times and each one was a complete waste of time. The first lady googled and found a year old thread on the tivo community site that she thought applied when it was exactly the opposite situation. In the end she said, "good luck" and gave me a "cable card" 866 number to call. That turned out to be Tivo support.

On another thread someone suggested telling the comcast tech to do a "full initialize" from Box Maintenance (can't post URLs yet, but it was on the dslreports site under a thread called "Comcast Cable card not getting all channels on TiVO HD")

I spent another few hours tonight arguing with three people in India about whether my limited basic package includes local HD channels or not. They insisted that they were definitely not included in spite of the fact that the mailer I got a couple weeks ago announcing the move to 4-digit channel numbers specifically listed the local HD channels from 1002 to 1018 as part of the limited basic package. After that very long and frustrating call I had a better one where the CSR tried a lot of options but it still left me where I started - with functioning local HDs on the old 3-digit channels and "channel not available" on all the new 4-digit channel numbers - and no guide information for the old 3-digit channels. I'm rerunning guided setup in the crazy hope that doing the same thing over and over again will somehow result in a different outcome.
One bit of information I left out is that in the Tivo Premeire's "Test Channels" screen it won't let me enter any channel number greater than 920 and if I channel up from 920 it goes back to channel 1. But then after my last call where the CSR told me that her supervisor had "added the codes" for my local HD channels and sent out a new authorization signal (which didn't fix my problem) now on the "Test Channels" page it jumps from 920 LOCAL to 1515 DISNHD before going next to channel 1. So maybe it is something (still incorrect) about the authorization package codes that they have configured for my M-Card.
I took my M-Card into the Brentwood Comcast office today to swap it out for a new one. That was what the last CSR said I should try (though she wanted to send out a tech to do it). The guy at the register said, as soon as he scanned the barcode on my old M-Card, that the card had the wrong "map code" and that was the reason for my troubles. He went ahead and gave me a new card which he said he had already loaded with the right map code. So hopefully when I activate it this evening I won't have any troubles with the new card.
Thankfully, activating my new M-Card went perfectly and now my local HDs are where they belong. I would guess that they should have been able to send my old card a new map code over the wire but I am happy that my problems are finally resolved.

Are these two additional charges mistakes on my bill? I do have a second tv that is analog and it is using one of those small dta boxes. Are they charging me for using that?? And isn't the digital starter package supposed to include HD service? Why are they charging me $7.95 more? This nickle and diming is getting ridiculous!

Did you ever get an answer on this? I have a charge for 2 @$8.50 each when we only have one comcast DVR. This better not be for my to tivos!

Will Nashville be getting the upgrades to the on screen guide Comcast announced today?

I wouldn't hold your breath.

Can ANYONE explain the mystery behind the additional charges that appear on the bill? The triple-play charge and taxes are 'understood' but what is the definition of "digital - additional TV", where are published prices for all of these charges etc? I searched on-line and could not find anything. I spent 45 minutes on the phone with CS and they never answered my question and I got frustrated since she was NOT answering why I'm being charged for what I'm being charged!

That's Comcast for you. I spent a few hours last week politely complaining and was able to get some charges removed and even a credit for the hassle.

If the unpredictable billing continues, however, I will drop them as a service provider. That's really my only complaint with Comcast service in our area.
