I'm going to have to spend a half day at some point and go to the office and speak to someone in person to get this resolved. I was hoping ice might have an answer for me. It appears it's all a charade with them on how they price their services and what they call each charge!

If your local office is anything like mine you really will spend half a day there. Usually has only one or two employees dealing with the 30+ customers waiting in line. Nearly as bad as getting your drivers license.

Just wanted to post an alert, channel 1111 TWCHD is having some sort of video error problem. It is sort of pixelating and then goes to a green screen with audio. I do not have a problem with my signal, in fact I've been told by a tech and CSR's that I have very hot signal here. This seems more like a problem at the Headend. I am in the Hendersonville area.

Can someone post a list of the current clear QAM channels for Comcast Nashville?

Thanks
Is it just me or is the nbc hd picture just really bad? I'm wondering if its nbc itself or is comcast doing something to the picture? Been like that for a long while, I've just never posted about it. I'm a notre dame fan and the picture during their games has looked good a couple years back, but it seems blocky almost. Barely any detail at all.

Also I'm one of the tens of people that watched fear factor on Monday and it seemed to be the same. If I wasn't so far away (murfreesboro) I would make an antenna and see if its comcast or not.
Have you seen the same blocking during channel 4's local news? I don't watch a whole lot of NBC but do catch Sunday night football most weeks and the OTA picture is almost always excellent - detailed with just a trace of blocking.

Right now, Prime Suspect is on and everything looks normal.
I don't generally watch the news and the few times I do it seems fine, but there usually isn't that much fast moving. I just thought of a comparison. The notre dame games they show on nbc to me look very poor. When they do the replay on uhd the picture is much better. It has to be comcast doing that but why? I can think of dozens of other channels they can save bandwidth on before a big channel like nbc.

This has been mentioned before but Comcast does not rate shape any of the local HDs (or ESPN/2 HD or TNT or TBS).
If that's the case then why is it that the picture is so horrible? Its blocky and really sub 480p level looking. Dvd's look better. Other channels are fine. I'm big into football and the nfl hd broadcast of last night's game was crisp, bright, and very detailed. Of the channels I watch it seems that nbc is the only one that does this consitently. This also includes when it was channel 232, not just the current 1004.
It shouldn't be that bad. I think the ota feed for the Sunday night games looks really good on a 1080p plasma. Now from what I understand, WSMV still uses a little bandwidth for subchannel 4.2, but the main channel doesn't appear bandwidth starved and the detail is just as good, or in some cases better than the other Nashville stations. The only time you see much blocking is during quick transitions and that lasts for just a fraction of a second.

Ravens - Chargers is on tonight. Have you tried picking up the ota feed? 4's signal reaches Murfreesboro and with a halfway decent tuner you might be able to get it with rabbit ears.
I may try and build an antenna in a few and see if I can pick it up. I'm actually outside murfreesboro in a small bit called walter hill. It's split between smyrna, murfreesboro, and lebanon. I'm a decent ways away from knob rd in nashville. Shouldn't take me more than a few minutes to make up an antenna.

It shouldn't be anywhere near that bad. If it really looks worse than DVD, are you sure that you are watching it through the HDMI or component connection?
Yes everything is set up correctly. Lg 55" lcd 120 hz 1080p tv hooked up with hdmi. Other channels look great. Its just nbc. Its either comcast or nbc, but I doubt that nbc would let that go through like that. Still haven't made an antenna but will mess with it soon. Don't watch many nbc shows and notre dame football is done till next year other than the bowl game but I don't think its on nbc.

I'm in town visiting my family and I've disovered they can't pick up any of the locals in HD with their Panny Plasma. I've rescanned for channels several times and even done a factory reset and rescanned and so far Im only able to get analog channels.

Is comcast blocking all clear QAM now? I thought federal law mandated that any channel one can receive in HD OTA the cable providers had to provide for free over clear QAM.

Any info would be appreciated.

The major networks (ABC, CBS, NBC & Fox) HD feeds are available on digital channels 92 & 93, or 2.1, 4.1, 5.1 and 6.1 if you have an ATSC tuner.

Can you get in the SD verison of the networks? If so that is all they are required to provide.

I just added the QAM locals to my HTPC using this listing: http://www.silicondust.com/hdhomerun...lineup_8303445

Had no problem adding them with Channel Number.

He went ahead and gave me a new card which he said he had already loaded with the right map code. So hopefully when I activate it this evening I won't have any troubles with the new card.

I have the same problem with my HD Tivo. Nothing on the 10xx channels and nice pictures on the old 2xx channels but no guide data.

Anyone know if they can update the "map code" remotely or am I forced to go swap out my M-card for one that is right? Anyone have a good phone number to talk to someone at Comcast that actually knows what to do and how to do it? The first line tech folks don't seem to know much of anything about Tivos and M-cards...

Thanks

Are the new Anyplay devices available in the Nashville market as I read today? The announcement said "Currently, we're making AnyPlay available to Xfinity HD Triple Play customers in areas of Denver and Nashville at no additional charge." Posted by Mark Hess, SVP of Video Product Development, in Product News

How do I get one?

After calling twice - I've been told by reps that the AnyPlay is available only to Comcast employees at this time. WTF??

I had exactly the same problem and after living with it on one of my sets for two and a half months, I broke down and called in a tech. I refused to allow Comcast to send a signal for fear that it would screw up my other Tivos, which were working perfectly. It took him an hour but he was able to re-map the M card and now all my Tivos work as they should with the new channels.

I got mine fixed as well. While installing at a neighbor's house the installer put a filter on MY line (for unknown reasons) without letting us know. Cable TV was not effected but the cable modem (and VoIP) quit working. After waiting 3 days for the repair tech they ended up supplying an amp and replacing the pole to house coax to fix the "filter issue". The next time I checked that Tivo the channels were correctly mapped. I don't THINK the cable modem tech to fix it, but he could have (he checked to make sure the channels and the cable modem were both working).

I read the announcement at engadget: you need the triple play and an ipad. Do you have these? I dont have an ipad and the android version won't be available for a while.

I need to eat a little humble pie. I'm erasing a post that expressed my displeasure at getting the run around in trying to find out AnyPlay today.

One of the people I spoke to was a Comcast internet rep, he new little about the AnyPlay but spent a good amount of time with me on the phone trying to find out. But no luck, that was before lunch today.
I get home and have just missed a call from this rep who apologizes profusely for his earlier ignorance - he provides a number to a AnyPlay specialist who I then call.
In five minutes, I'm signed up with an AnyPlay in the mail.

From what this rep said it is being rolled out slowly, there may be glitches and Comcast hopes they can call me for feedback. AnyPlay is free at this point.
Apparently emails went out to local customers they want to participate in the roll out (I wasn't one) but since I knew the super secret number I was included. He did ask how I got the phone number...

Anyway as much as I rant against Comcast this rep does deserve a thank you!

Ok, turns out I'm not crazy. Was watching the pro bowl on nbc and the picture was so bad...the WIFE said something about it! I've been noticing it more on any show they air. Detail is non existent. All other hd stations look fine. I flipped to the winter x games on espn and it looked great. Something is up and I'm hoping its not nbc itself. I can't see that they would put on such a dismal picture. I still haven't tried an antenna yet but will have to soon.

I could be wrong, but I think WSMV has a low bitrate, it looks like junk to me and I've noticed macro-blocking(I think thats what its called) on the channel, I have seen WNBC 4 from NYC(via DirecTVs distant network service) and it looks much better to me. The Comcast HD feed of WSMV is acquired by Comcast over-the-air + I have seen the WSMV OTA feed many times and have noticed the macro-blocking there too. I don't care too much for WSMV also because their signal is incredibly difficult for me to to pickup(I think I get like 20-30% signal) and they won't increase the power + they are high VHF which anything can disrupt, which leads me to having times where I have had a lot of breakup when I have tried to use my antenna and I don't live but 10 minutes from Nashville.
