Do you have Version 110?

Who has version 110? I have two Replays, neither have been upgraded yet.

All my units have it.....I got it on my 5060 shortly after I got it, because I had opened a ticket on a couple of issues that they said were 'software' problems...though I hadn't experience on my other three RTVs....one was the Channel 44 problem.....

....then my 5040s got it as part of the AVS forum beta release. And, finally my 5160 got it about a week ago. At first I was thinking it would never happen....but I wasn't forcing it....and basically it didn't happen until the net connect cycle had sync around 1am. Before that it was doing net connects in the late afternoon...so I guess that put it outside the number of units that could get updates that day.

The Dreamer.

The 88% yes vote (as of 8/31) surprises me. Even though I was supposed to be a beta tester, I've not been able to download any new software.

I've got it, but it has far from "fixed" my dialup problems. It still locks up in the middle of the night from attempting to phone home, usually around the "checking for new software" prompt.

The only benefit I've seen from the new software is that once rebooted, it doesn't just ignore the prreviously downloaded information. It combines the data and finishes the install. Whoopie. I still miss scheduled programming because the unit is locked up.

It's pretty sad that a home appliance in this price range is this unreliable. I'd expect it from a windows based unit, but not from a stand alone box. I don't know how anyone on this board could possibly volenteer for "Demo Days" when they know this thing is buggy as hell. What's the sales pitch? "Oh, you'd love this box. You still have a full head of hair, so it should be at least a couple weeks until you rip it all out from the frustration of the box not working as advertised."

It's so bad, that I double record the stuff that I really want to see by having the Showstopper record it as well. At least that box is bullet proof, even if it doesn't have the "features" of the 5000.

As soon as I found out is was available, I got it by forcing a net connect; took 3 tries.

I started with 4.5 build 350, then 5.0 build 750 and now this.

I really haven't had any problems with any of these software versions, but notice the CA and speed of the menus seemed to improve with the latest release.

I've read a LOT of comments about people having a myriad of problems with all this software...I'll just keep my fingers crossed, and consider myself lucky>;)

*5040 refurb upgraded to '5160' w/160GB Maxtor. I did notice an improvement in menu searching and channel guide with the new HD, so I think this is a valid point to upgrading to an 8MB cache drive...plus they're so cheap, if you shop around. I got mine for about $80.00 after rebates. (for a total cost of about $370.00).

When I think about it, I spent almost that much on a Sony VHS recorder back in the late nineties, that can't even compare to this. While I'm a 'later' adopter to DVR's; I refuse to spend top $$$ on new technology, I have to say at this point (had it about 3 months, with about a month since the HD upgrade) I consider this the best new technology I've had since I got ADSL.

Damn, I love this thing...so far.

Very similar to my experience. I am currently experimenting with a lower modem speed. At 19.2 it has made 2 full connections with no hangs. Not enough run time to declare success, but I will provide updates as runtime increases.

Just setup the refurb 5040 I got a couple months ago and on the first connection it downloaded v. 110. Hopefully it'll do the same when I get the trade-in 5040...

I'll add again what Lyndon said a long while back. Everyone should have gotten 110 by (what?) 10 days ago.... If you are not having download problems, meaning it connects, does everything fine, and just doesn't get 110, I'd call it in to DNNA. Strange, since this was a broadcast release (no special list of boxes to get it, etc.).... I'm really surprised it's not on all boxes at this point!

I've heard others say that by slowing down the connection speed they've had greater success too. However, I did a quick search though the fourm nad couldn't find any reference to how to slow down the modem speed.

Would you care to explain how that is done?

Here you go.... you can search the FAQ better than the forum, often (mainly because of the amount of material here...).

Mine either shipped with it or got it on the first connection or two... I got one of the refurb 5060s a couple weeks ago, though, so it makes sense that they'd be shipping the latest stable version they could.

Greetings and Salutations!

I only received my 110 update today. ReplayTV sent me an email warning me that I had an old software update and included detailed instructions how to receive the latest version of the software.

However, I have a dial-up connection and definitely experienced the problem of locking up overnight during the check for software update.

I solved this problem months ago by attaching my ReplayTV to an outlet timer, which I program to turn off my unit around 6:30 AM (a time that I rarely if ever want to record anything) and turn it back on five minutes later. Now, even if my ReplayTV locks up, my unit is reset and I never miss any scheduled shows.

I even have my cable box and ReplayTV connected to a traditional computer system UPS to handle the rare brownout.

Cheers, Harry
