Is there anyone around with an analog tuner who can look to see if W16AL is still on the air?

Thanks.

Has anyone from Essex, VT been able to get any kind of reception from any of the Canadian DTV stations? I've tried a few times pointing my little indoor antenna North to no avail. Wondering if it's worth monkeying with my larger antenna in the garage rafters (that's currently pointing directly at Mansfield).

Re: Montreal

We've had intermittent reception since the Montreal stations went digital last year. This is from a side lobe of an antenna in our attic pointed at Mt. Mansfield.

Knowing how much better the Canadian Olympics coverage is than that available on NBC, my wife and I put a second $30 Radio Shack antenna aimed at Montreal in the attic a few months ago. We now get 100% signal strength on Ch 2.1 (CBC French), 6.1 (CBC English) and 10.1 (French). 12.1 (CTV=Olympics) runs 50 - 80% but is always locked. 15.1 (Global) and 17.1 (French) are lockable about 50% of the time. We are enjoying watching the Olympics on 12.1 because almost all of the big events are carried live rather than NBC's practice of making one wait until 10:50PM to see the big contests.

One technical note. I always had almost 100% signal strength from Mt Mansfield. Now that I've added the "Montreal" antenna to the installation including a good signal combiner, my signal strength on all Burlington stations has dropped a bit and Ch 3.1 runs in the 40% range. I know that it's a multipath problem and have decided to live with it because I don't have room for a rotor in the attic.

Thanks, HDBruce. I'll try re-pointing my big antenna in the garage. The only problem is that my receiver, the Echostar ViP622, will most likely not have any EPG data for the Canadian stations, so I'll have to use CTV's website to find programming.

I use Titan TV and the Free Press, which does list 6.1 and 12.1. To get Titan TV to work you have to enter the call signs once, but after that it's automatic. Titan TV doesn't have the Montreal Global station (15.1) but I found the call letters for the Toronto Global station and forced them in; it has the same programming.

I've got my DVR routinely recording some shows on 6.1 and 12.1 to avoid conflicts elsewhere in the US schedule and/or to pick up a show in HD which isn't in HD on DirecTV.

Alas... I tried pointing my bigger antenna in the garage towards Montreal and don't get squat.

Does anybody have any information as to when ABC22 and FOX44 will broadcast syndicated programming in HD?

After reading good revues, I replaced the Winegard Wingman antenna on my RV with a Jack antenna (under $50 from Amazon). At a remote campsite, I picked up one additional channel. Not bad. I tried it in my driveway yesterday and did a channel scan and picked up 6 more channels than my Antennas Direct DB4 that I have roof mounted on my house. I live 14 miles line of site from the Mt Mansfield towers (245 degrees), but the extra channels I picked up were 155 miles away in NY (WTEN and WMHT) at 208 degrees. I probably have the Jack pointed at about 220 degrees. I just ordered one to replace the DB4.

So when did this happen?

DISH finally has our PBS stations in HD! I noticed yesterday while channel surfing my Favorites that both 33 and 57 were missing. A switch to All Channels showed them as HD now. I'm on Eastern Arc so
the channels only come from 61.5. Updated my Favorites and I'm good to go, Took DISH long enough...

What a great Christmas present! I've waited for this for years. Now I can finally order a Hoper.
Thanks for being so astute. I really appreciate it.
