Atlanta Area Shootout????

Thread Starter
Anyone else in the Atlanta area interested in getting together for a PJ shootout of sorts? Now that I have my X1, I'd love to see it side-by-side w/ a Z1, L300U, HS10 etc.... Though I'm quite happy with my PJ, I'm curious to see the competitor models to see for myself the difference....and I'm quite sure that all the lurkers sitting up on the fence would love to hear our opinions.

Because I presently don't have a solid screen to display on, my place may not be the best forum. At present, I'm projecting onto a large piece of foam board that I suspend in front of my ent unit :( ....Don't laugh, it's a temp solution until I build my perm screen.

Respond if you're interested, including the PJ that you can contribute to the pool. Then, we'll see what materializes.

I have an AE300 I can bring. I have it projecting on a white wall and I don't have light control, so my place isn't ideal for a shootout either.

Bump....Anyone else in ATL?
I would like to see this, but I don't have anything to offer equipment wise

Turbodog,

I would like to join. It's been a while since I've had a front projector and would like to see these models in action against each other. Come on Atlanta, someone must have the L300U, and HS10 that would like to join!

I can offer a Dish6000 w/ over the air module for viewing HD content, but the only caveat is you need a satellite signal to view over the air. I believe...

I can also offer a DVDO for viewing 480p from a 480i source..

I'm in Duluth. I would be interested. It would be hard to exchange projectors in my house as the projector is hard wired and attached to the ceiling, but I'd be willing to do a house crawl. Assuming we're not on opposite sides of the city.

Not one on your list. It's an HP.

I would certainly like to nose in on such an event. I don't have a projector to bring (I am looking to buy in the next 2 months), but I could contribute some chips, dips, and appropriate beverages :D :D :D

Ok, it looks like someone needs to jump in and grab the reins. Anyone interested, we'll shoot for Sunday Oct. 5th. If anyone has a conflict with that date, now's the time to mention it. We can start at my house in Duluth, and either figure out a way to audition multiple projectors or plan on doing a house crawl and check out several people's setups.

If we stay here to audition projectors, we will need another progressive DVD player to hook up to the projectors since all my stuff is pretty much hard wired into the ceiling and would be a major pain to undo/redo.

Email me at barb2375@bellsouth.com with your phone number, general location, and any preferred dates or other ideas.

My reason for delaying my response was to see if we could rally up a Z1 for comparison, since it is the 3rd of the big trio. Also, a HS10 would be stellar. If we could gather up either of these two, then I think that we might have a more robust shootout, which we could then post to the forum for all those on the fence.

Any Z1 or HS10 owners from the Atlanta area out there????.....Hello????....Anyone???....Bueller???

So far, Oct 5th sounds great to me. I can bring a prog scan DVD player and the X1. Do you happen to have an HD source? I have a HTPC w/ a MyHD card that we can use if you don't.

This way, we can stay in one place....I hope you don't mind AZ. We just don't want to have to work off of memory. Thanks for offering up you digs.

I would really love to get in on this since I'm planning on buying a projector sometime soon. I don't really have much to contribute for the shootout though.

Of course, I understand if you guys want to go ahead and do the 5th, but I won't be able to come out that day. I can be a pretty tough person to schedule for, but it looks like the 4th and the 12th are open for me.

I am trying to get Comcast to come install my HDTV stuff, but they're not very co-operative. They seem to be working very hard to stay away from my house.

With any luck, I should have it hooked up by then.

Sorry, but there's no way I can do the 4th or the 12th.

You're welcome to stop by and see what I've got set up anytime though!

If the event is scheduled for the evening, I might be able to make it. Midday would not work, tho. I wonder if the folks at Melton's might want to bring an HS10 to show off? Chip is the guy there with whom I have been talking.

Bump....Still searching for an Atlanta Z1 owner to complete the mix.
I'd be interested in this also if it is later in the month than Oct. 5, although the 12th would work. Only thing I can contribute is beer at this point.

Melton's is getting HD signal restored (by ?) so it will be possible to see their HS10 with a HD signal soon. Looked good on a 133 diag screen on Friday with progr DVD but I want to see it with HD. Question for me is HS10, HS20, or Z2.

msieweke - How does the 5th look for you? I think that the Pani is critical to this shootout, so let us know how it looks for you.

turff - We haven't made it to the point of setting up a time, but, depending on AZ's constraints, we could probably push this to the afternoon. AZ? If we do that, do you want to take the lead in contacting Melton's about the HS10?...and any other's that they may want to showcase (free advertising)?

AZ - What model HP do you have. I figure we'll start capturing all the model info for those keeping an eye on this.

While I've bumped this up....Still looking for a Z1 in Atlanta.

Just talked to Chip Melton (it was before I saw your post Turbodog, sorry), and he can't do anything like this on a Sunday. I don't know him that well (just another customer), but he does not seem that interested in bringing the HS10 out to something like this.

I will check later to see if a time has been settled...

The 5th should be OK for me. I can bring my AE300 and an XP30 DVD player. I have a friend with a Bravo D1 and a Dell 3200. If he can't come, I may be able to borrow the D1.

You missed the HT1000 demo a couple of weekends ago. Have any of you posted to the local forum?

AZ.....Are we still a go on this? You've been quiet, so wanted to make sure we are still looking to do this.

While we've bumped the thread....still looking for a Z1 and/or an HS10 to take part in the shootout. Anyone is obviously welcome to contribute another PJ (perhaps an S1???). I'm just trying to get as many of the "Big 3" as possible.
Do you mind if I bring a few guys from work? There are a lot of guys here who don't follow the forum. I can probably get them to bring snacks or drinks.
