Hoping someone can help me out. I have a Velodyne 12x15 that needs a new 15" Passive Radiator. The current one is torn and it's not really worth trying or attempting to repair. Looking for a recommendation for a replacement. Thanks!

Hello Rob,

Is it possible to use DD-15 THX Ultra-2 as a Passive Subwoofer and drive DD-15 with SC-1250?. My amplifier section on DD-15 gone bad, got cracking noise and no output.

Thank you very much.

Hi,

I recently purchased a pretty much new SPL-1000R sub. I'm having a tough time getting it calibrated. I was able to download the manual, but there's really nothing that discusses setting it up.
I have a midrange Yamaha receiver that uses YPAO. Would I run YPAO and then run the 12-tone sweep w/ mic?

While we no longer have these passive radiators, I know several folks that have had success finding aftermarket replacements. PM sent.

No, the Digital Drive has no way for the servo to interface with the SC-1250 amplifier. I would contact service@velodyne.com , we can service the DD amplifier for you.

I would place your subwoofer, then run the subwoofer's room equalization. After this is complete, set the volume on the subwoofer at about 30% output and run the Yamaha system. Once that is done, check the LFE output level in the Yamaha to ensure it is between -3dB and +3dB. Finally play some content and adjust the subwoofer's volume to your preferred output.

The foam surround on my F-1500 has cracked in several places. I have replaced the form surround on smaller speakers myself, and I see there are kits available for the F-1500 from Orange County Speaker (and others), so I'm tempted to try to repair the F-1500 myself. However, I've found warnings elsewhere on the Internet that replacement of the foam surround on an F-1500 requires recalibration of the accelerometer feedback. Is this true, and essential? Assuming I can do the refoam myself, are there any special considerations in removing the speaker from the enclosure, other than dealing with its considerable size and weight?

Thanks for any assistance with this.

The accelerometer and servo control mechanism do require special handling. The majority of DIY attempts to service this sub result if failure. Orange County Speakers is one company we refer customers to as they have had great success repairing the surround on these drivers.

Thank you very much Rob for your advice.

Do you have any idea how much it's goin g to cost for fixing DD-15 THX Ultra 2 Amplifier Plate?

Thanks again for all your help.
Ikemann.

Thank you!
I will do exactly that when I get home.
I might have an issue finding the proper place to put the sub...
But I follow what you're saying and it makes sense. Thanks again!

I have a VA 1512 that needs a new 12" driver. I tried contacting velodyne but they don't have a replacement avail. Does anyone have a recommendation?

Is the DD+ Contour filter unit similar to the volume unit (0.4 dB) or is it in dB like the Parametric filters ?

I have a VA1512 that I'm willing to part out for you and the fella needing the radiator, but he hasn't gotten back to me. I had to replace my 12" woofer about 3-4 years ago with the recommended replacement 12" from velodyne so it's pretty new in comparison to the unit. It was last played about 6 months ago and was working great. PM me an offer if you want it. You guys may need to arm wrestle over the amp though.

Pm sent. Does your 1512 have the square feet on the bottom or the round?

It has the round feet, date on the back says 2000 but like I said the 12" is fairly new from velodyne. I'm starting to question whether the this 15" radiator has enough life left in it to be worth his time? Do you all think it's going to be falling apart when I pull it out of the box?

Is the problem a surround issue or some other problem?

the contour frequency gain is in dB.

Surround had previously been replaced. It's now making some other noise from the driver.

If you remove the electronics pack from the subwoofer and connect the driver to another amp does the driver make that same sound? Sometimes these sounds are actually the driver trying to reproduce the bad signal being sent to it from bad electronics.

Yes it's deffentially the driver.

I will double check our hiding spots for any remaining compatible drivers and let you know what we find.

After an extensive search I must sadly say that we do not have any compatible drivers for that subwoofer.

Hey Rob, We are trying to figure out how to ship my VA1512 out to him which had a 12" driver replacement from velodyne done 3-4 years ago. I have no idea where to come up with an adequate box or how to pack it (for example how do I protect the woofers especially the radiator underneath). Should I just be using some standard boxes from fedex or something? I know I feel a lot better about my subs and electronics being double boxed.

Do you have any tips? If you have packaging for a similar sized sub how much would you charge for a set?

Thanks for your time.

As you can imagine, Velodyne no longer has any of the original packaging for this subwoofer. Shipping empty boxes large enough to accommodate this subwoofer is also surprisingly expensive as UPS will charge by dimensional weight. I have shipped empty 15 inch subwoofer boxes and seen freight bills over $100.

One option is to take the subwoofer to a shipping facility and have them pack it. The advantage being that if there is damage to the unit and a freight claim is made, they have to pay it as they can not claim insufficient packaging. Ok, the carrier can deny the claim, but the store has to pay as they are supposed to know how to pack items appropriately.

Another option is to purchase large moving boxes. If you can use a mixture of solid foam an peanuts that is best as objects tend to shift in the peanuts sometimes.

Hello Rob/Velodyne support,

I have a DEQ-12R that I purchased in 2010. This sub has had an issue since I've owned it but I just figured I didn't have everything tweaked just right. Of course now I'm sure I'm passed my warranty time (which is my own fault). Whenever I would crank the volume somewhat loud, the sub would turn off. It's always had plenty of ventilation. Now, the subwoofer doesn't produce any sound at all. I figured I would take the back off and look but all I ended up doing was loosening the wrong screws I'm quite sure as now something is loose inside. Any idea what might be wrong? Also, any directions on taking this thing apart the right way?

Thank you very much in advance for any help! I know this sub is great & I'm dying to hear it!
