DISH Player versus TIVO -- which is best?

Thread Starter
I currently have stand-alone TIVO that I use with the DISH. I also have high definition -- and am considering the DISH DVR 921 or the HD DirectTV TIVO. I had DirecTV four years ago and would switch back if the best combination is DirecTV plus TIVO for HD recording.

How does the DISH Player software compare to TIVO?

Three other satellite/DBS forums you may find your answer already there:

In general, the Dish DVRs don't do name-based recording, so if a show moves around in the guide your box still records from (say) 8:00PM to 9:00PM and you get whatever appeared in that slot.

I was with E* from 1996 to 2003
Got a DirecTivo just last June.

I LOVE it and have not looked back since.

I have 3 DirecTIVOs and my parents have a Dishplayer. If you are just comparing the DVR/receiver combos, DirecTIVOs win hands down. The rest I'll let you guys debate.
