I'm in Sherman Oaks, subscribe to the "Ultimate" package with four HD sets and four Moxi boxes--so I know it's not just one box that's screwed up-- and since at least December 2005, we've received NFL HD along with ESPN HD, Discovery HD, and the rest of the movie channel HD's (MAX, HBO and SHO), as well as CBS-2 HD, NBC-4 HD, ABC-HD, Fox 11 HD, and PBS-28 HD.
About a month ago, we started to receive HD NET, HD NET Movies, ESPN-2, and INHD and INHD2.
This morning, I checked and here is what we receive and what we do not (and by do not, I mean the channels show up, but we receive the message "If you don't subscribe to this channel, you can add it by calling Customer Service"):
931-HDNET--don't get programming
932-HDNET Movies--no programming
938-NFL HD--no programming
940-ESPN HD2--no programming
963-- Cinemax HD
Again, when I say "no programming" I mean the channel shows up, along with the program descriptions for current and upcoming programs, but there is no picture other than the message to either check for a loose cable or to call customer service to add the channel.
I contacted customer service and was told (by a regional rep in Colorado Springs) that the channels which we are now "missing" aren't even shown in the lineup. Then she said she checked with her supervisor, who advised her to read an email (while I was on hold) which said that the additional HD channels were being offered in Sherman Oaks from 2/18 through 2/28 as a "preview." She said the e-mail also indicated Adelphia was dropping HBO Channel 206 in order to make room for the additional HD bandwidth. The rep told me that for each analog channel they drop, they can get another 10 HD channels into the system, in terms of bandwidth.
I responded by saying that was all very interesting, and well and good (whether she knew what she was talking about or not) but reminded her that I was interested in having her tell me why I was not receiving channels which I had been receiving (e.g., NFL HD...which I never watch by the way) for more than the "preview" period, but which were now unavailable. She had no idea. Had me reset all the Moxi boxes, but still the same deal.
The one thing I was concerned about was whether Adelphia would be charging more for these additional HD channels to customers who have the "ultimate" package, and the rep was emphatic that there would be no additional charge to those subscribers who already take their "ultimate" i.e., most expensive, package.
Of course, the situation is now that I'm paying more (i.e., "ultimate") and receiving less...now I don't get some of the HD which I used to get, and I'm also missing some HBO stuff for which I also pay.
Nice work Adelphia.
As far as when the rest of these channels are going to be available, the rep had no idea.... She said they were previewing from 2/18 through 2/28, and that they were supposed to be added permanently as of 3/1....Well, that's today, and guess what: They aren't working.
Nice work Adelphia.
