@fleaman, I just edited my post above so you may have missed it -- no, not with the skipping ahead. If this is happening only during commercials, maybe there isn't enough time for resolution changes, because I've always seen that.

Interesting thought, but trying it on program content seems to make no difference. I do notice that FF skip seems to work better than RW skip most of the time (but not all the time). Also, I've never noticed resolution changes on commercials or programs on the same channel. My TV (or projector) would pop up a window if there was a resolution change during commercials, but haven't seen one.

Overall the 15sec (or is it 30sec?) skip feature just works crappier now.

I think it's 30 sec forward, 60 sec back (??). I'm not seeing any problems skipping or pausing on recorded content ( the actual show, that is). As for rez changing during commercials, I would see that a lot watching basketball @ 720p. Commercials would be in both 720p and 1080i, which was very apparent when trying to skip through them. The Info box on my TV pops up every time the rez changes. I do have the 3400 set to output Native.

30-seconds forward skip, 15-seconds backward skip.

Page-up/down are 5-minute skips forward and backward.

I tried native for a while, but switched back to forced 1080i 'cos the resolution change added more delay to channel/program switching (due to the TV or projector re-syncing).

I wasn't aware that even in native mode they changed resolutions on the same channel for some commercials. I never noticed that, but I wasn't on native for that long. Seems like a strange action for any channel that does it.

I was living with the rez changes at channel changes, but when TWC started showing their commercials at 720p when the channel was 1080i I changed it to fixed again. I complained, but suspect nothing changed. /Dan

DCX3400, Silverlake area (Eagle Rock office), former Adelphia.

In my area (ESFV), not only is COMEDY CENTRAL affected, but I'm also seeing it on SPIKE HD and occasionally on CARTOON NETWORK HD.

I don't normally watch spike/cartoon network, I'll try to check it out...

Does socal have 5 minute ffw and rw on VOD yet with iGuide yet? Also this update allows for shows to be ffw block enabled on VOD.

Does the D08 under the diagnostics menu in Socal on the DCX boxes show:

24.29
78.44
69.41

5 minutes fast forward and rewind on VOD is enabled. "Fast forward disabled" is working alright, FOX and ABC were immediately added to the Primetime On Demand when they enabled it.

Checked out Spike HD, same thing here, image judder. I would assume/guess it's the same with the Cartoon network.

2 weeks now

It has to be a problem at the head end. This same thing has been happening to me and a few of my neighbors on several HD channels since they activated SDV and added the two dozen new HD channels two months ago. It NEVER used to happen before that. We've complained several times and TWC's response is that they're not getting any reports of problems in our areas, and to either (A) reboot the box or (B) schedule a truck roll. We have SA8300HDs here with Navigator.

Well after about 3 hours it started to work.. did not help me as i wanted to watch the game in HD. I hope its not a problem that is going to exist .. I wonder if it was because to many people where watching it? it was the manchester united opening game? is there a limit on how many people can watch when its SDV?

Oh man, all I can say is THANK GOODNESS for this thread. I haven't used my relatively new plasma (about 4 months old, first HD I've ever owned) in about 2 weeks, and the networks I watch primarily are...Comedy Central, Spike, and Cartoon Network. Was freaking out to the point of panic that somehow it was my TV, not the feed, to the point I was imagining judder (or just being hyper picky about it) on other networks, Blu-rays, games etc.

As annoying as this is, VERY glad I'm not the only one. It's not too bad on Cartoon Network and Spike for me, but Comedy Central is totally unwatchable.

Also, I'm in West LA, near Santa Monica, not sure of my DVR box but it's at least 3 years old.

Yup, it's not the gear in the house, it's the feed, and only on those channels (that we know of).

Going on a good 16+ days of this here-WTF?

Hey bruce can you check something for me? Can you power off the DCX3400 and then hit ok immediately and go to D08 and can you post what you see there in a screenshot if possible?

Im curious as to what software version of iGuide you have and if it is 78.53 or 78.44 still and I am also curious as to what code for caller id is.

TWC North Texas is supposed to have the StartOver/Lookback features enabled in september for the regular motorola HD/DVR boxes.

I have seen the same symptom on both Colbert and TDS (which is all I watch on CCHDP) for quite a while now, with my Ceton HTPC setup. Similar with Chelsea on E!HD.

At first I thought it was the new "heroes" crawl Colbert added to the bottom of the screen that was causing the video issues on his show, but I have also seen it on TDS. And there's no crawl of course on Chelsea on E!.

So it does seem to be either a bad re-compress job by TWC, or maybe a low bitrate coming from the networks themselves, or who knows what. No question it's present though here as well, in MDR (former Comcast). No SDV.

Unfortunately it's pretty much undiagnosable because both channels are copy-once and encrypted. So no video tools can be used to look at the streams.

also does startover/lookback work yet?
Well, I've decided to stop lurking on here and come out of the woodwork and post.

One thing I'm wondering is what will replace Live Well HD (KABC 7.2 OTA) on channel 445, when TWC removes that channel from the lineup. (I called them to inquire about that and they cited lack of viewership as the reason for the channel's impending removal. Makes sense to get rid of it since that channel shows pretty much nothing but paid programming. Waste of bandwidth IMO.) I'm personally hoping for GSN HD to end up on 445, for my dad's sake, since he currently has to watch it in grainy SD on 153.

I am thinking about getting a QAM tuner for an old tv. Does TW still shuffle the digital positions of channels in the clear every few weeks or so?

Nope, holds for months on my TV. Seems like once/year have to rescan (might be TV related though). /Dan

I have no idea. Where would I find that option? If it's on the expanded info page of a listing, then no.

on the quick menu or on a channel that has it enabled so it would be hit or miss.

OK, I'll look for it and get back. But I haven't seen it yet.

I have Startover and Enhanced tv regularly now...however if you set your banner to the fastest setting you have to be quick to enable it...they appear on the banner as a tab...Startover is working great but be aware that there is no FF you are held captive...ok that's a little dramatic but you get my drift...Enhanced tv which takes the place of Startover on the banner tab..it gives you the opportunity to see a missed show. It will give you a choice of two or more shows...I find that most of the shows are OnDemand so why bother...but if you are enabling it on an HD channel such as 407 it will be in HD...unlike Primetime ondemand which is mostly in SD...
