They can drop all twenty ESPN channels as far as I'm concerned

I understand Retro TV lost some of its shows because ME-TV has the local rights now.

I feel bad for WKRP tho. Brock is having a bitch of a time as is with revenue and when his flagship channel loses programming, it can only make things tougher on the one true independent in the area. That is not a good thing, even tho I do support METV, I support WKRP more.
WKRP should try and pick up AntennaTV since RTV lost the rights to the universal catalog. AntennaTV has a better schedule of shows than RTV currently has.

I thought his station was up for sale and (if no buyers) going away on 8/1?

I'd like to see wkrp get the rights to the miami u. Football and basketball games similar to what one lp station in columbus did a few years back with the ou bobcats. The miami u football games are currently only available on the ohio news network which is not available on satelite. To add insult to injury the games are blacked out on espn gameplan.

Well that sucks. First I heard of this.

OU and the station in Columbus spent a lot of money on those games. They hired the entire crew and rented the truck (the cheapest one they could find). Those of us on the crew knew they couldn't possibly afford to keep doing the games for more than a couple of years because of the expense and only 1 or 2 advertisers. I'm with you though, I wish the money was there to do all the Miami games.

The WKRP channels will remain on the air until Block sells the license and/or equipment. A working station is more valuable than a dark (off the air) station, he said.

Straight from the horses mouth.

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

What is going on with 25.1, 25.2, 25.3, etc?

They came in pretty good for a while, but they are kind of gone now.

Thanks.

Can't tell you. Still works great here. Great signal strength.

Cool! I think... Now this ADDED CHANNEL WILL REQUIRE a rescan.

Not cool. More bits taken away from HD.

A lot of tuners will not need a rescan as they will update when the current WCPO 9-1 or 9-2 channels are tuned once 9-3 is added, but yes some (the poorly designed ones in my opinion) will.

Also I think you posted a link to a Filipino network... The Live Well network is here:

And when will a local station get with the times and send 480i/p widescreen for a subchannel?? I understand not much benefit for WLWT 5-2 since their shows are all old 4:3, but why the CW on 12-2 is not widescreen when they have an HD widescreen source is beyond me.

Heck I am still waiting for 5.1 audio on 12.1. I agree CinCW Prime time programming needs to be in 480p widescreen at the very least.

I need some help. I recently went OTA, but the wife isn't happy because we don't get ABC and she can't watch The Bachelorette. My TV Fool report shows that Cincinnati ABC [Channel: 22 (9.1)] should be my strongest channel. Unfortunately, there is a co-channel warning from an analog channel 22 out of Dayton. Since the other Cinci stations come in just fine, I'm assuming this co-channel issue is the source of my troubles. Is there anything I can do to resolve this?

My antenna is a Winegard HD 7696P mounted in my attic and pointed toward the Cincinnati stations.

Here is my report:

Reposition the antenna. Ch9 should be no problem since they went UHF. The link doesn't work. Where do you live? And have you tried to p/u Daytons ABC?

Ahhh, Maineville. I am just up the road from you just outside Morrow. Should be no issue. I get it beautifully and I am farther. Analog 22 is very doubtful to have any issue for you.

As for the antenna, I am not a fan of that one at all. I suggest to all my customers (and no complaints yet) to use an Antennacraft U-4000. The only VHF channel left is 12 and the U-4000 picks it up great so no need for all that extra. I use a Y7-13 VHF for radio stations. I use two U-4000, 1 for Dayton and one for Cinti. Works great.

The trick is getting it aimed right. Once aimed correctly, the next issue is strength. You may (or may not) need a 15dB simple signal booster/amplifier. Probably not because (depending on where you live in Maineville) you should be in an ideal area for reception. Then there are your connectors that MUST be correct, not those crap crimp on ones.

So there are some suggestions. You already have an antenna that should work just fime even though it is over kill for a band you don't need, but try re-aiming it first. 8 out of 10 times that usually solves the issue.
Yes, aiming it right is key. Digital signals are very directional. You should be able to get it in fine. Don't expect to get Cincinnati & Dayton though, from the same antenna, like the old days.

TV Fool is a bit behind the times because analog 22 is no longer on the air in Dayton. They had to shut down because WCPO took the frequency so co-channel interference is definitely not the problem.

When I put up my Antennacraft U-4000 antenna (with a booster) on the roof earlier this year I must have made 3 or 4 return trips to the roof to tweak the direction so you probably won't hit the "sweet spot" on your first try. I ultimately was able to pull in over 40 stations including channel 9 which comes in at around 70..

Right now some of the Dayton stations are a little iffy since the 70 ft oak tree is in the way and has a full compliment of leaves. Taking the beautiful tree down is not an option so I will just live with it.
I can't remember which antennas I have ( I can look that up) but can I buy an additional one to aim at Dayton to pick up those stations? Where I am at I am aimed at Cinci and Ky.

I may have to go up and tweak my direction, channel 25.1, 2, 3, have not been coming in lately. They used to come in fine. Maybe some trees need to be cut down. rofl
post #13646 of 14222
Yes you can. I have 3 antennas matrixed together for every channel AND FM available. 45 channels OTA and all the FM and HD radio one can ask for.

Dick Van Dyke, Rawhide, the Honeymooners, Twilight Zone, M*A*S*H, Untouchables. That's a hard lineup to beat. I love it.

Agree about ME-TV. Especially during the summer prime time hours when not much else good is on. I've actually watched it quite a bit. And, one of the reasons I've watched it a lot is because the quality is GREAT for a subchannel. It's probably the best looking sub I've seen, and WLWT-HD STILL looks awesome as well. AND they've got the mobileTV stream in there as well. They are doing some really cool stuff over there at channel 5. Then you go and look at WKRC where 12-1 HD looks like crap (macroblock city) and 12-2 is pretty much unwatchable (macroblocks and the focus/blur on scene changes issue from the adaptive filtering setting they still haven't fixed). CW has some (not much ) decent content, but I pretty much never watch it because it looks so bad on a large HDTV. Having WBDT 26 from Dayton in HD makes 12-2 unnecessary thankfully.

With WCPO to add a THIRD channel (9-3) soon, we'll see how well they do with picture quality.
