Their current signal is at the top of a shorter tower on the same property. The extra height and power might help you and might hurt. I'm close enough that I get multipath from the signal as it is. 22's higher altitude and lower power signal comes in much better. (Some in Mishawaka/South Bend have a lot of problems with multi-path on the high power signals.)

Does anyone else have trouble with locals in HD from Directv. i will keep my antenna because everytime i try to record on my DVR i miss part of the show because of loss of signal. If I use -1 signals off the antenna then I have no problems.

I noticed 25, 57, and 69 were kind of in the dumps on the lower 60% on my DVR as of late. Now all of a sudden I'm seeing all 3 in the upper 70%. Did these stations have a power problem recently?

No, probably tropo. I saw WNDU at my house knocking out WQRF.

I can see WSBT clearly with no breakups, WNDU is canceling out WQRF which is a blowtorch Fox 45 miles from me. I can also see analog 24 which I think is in Valpo.

It is. just over 6kw of directional power waiting to flip to digital at some point.

I had fun watching Jewlery TV last night. I could also see our analog LP's here at my house! Good enough for cell phone screen shots! Not bad for 120miles away!! And I only have a 4-bay UHF panel antenna.

They are airing the same thing on Digital 40.1 WHCH. It used to be religious (is it the same owners?), now it's Jewelry TV 24/7. Northwest Indiana could be better served if someone else bought those.

Speaking of the tropo last night - I was pulling in the Fort Wayne stations in La Porte.

Sounds like your browser is launching Notepad or Wordpad.

hvs10trk, all six of your LP and LD OTA channels are having issues right now. I called over to the neighbors (Comcast cable) and they say WBND is coming in fine. I'm getting a good signal from the transmitters (my TR-40 shows 90 on my rabbit ear setup) but the picture is breaking up, freezing, etc.

Is anyone else seeing this (especially during the ND Michigan game?)

Update, 4:30 EDT: Looks like someone noticed. It's been stable for five minutes or so. Fingers crossed for the rest of the game!

both 57.1 and 69.1 freeze at the same time. Missing lots of action (well, on 57).

We turned on the FM radio to fill in the gaps on the freeze frames.

I turned on two TVs with separate antenna feeds, both freeze at the same time. Looks like a encoder problem at the station somewhere ...

Directv has a SD feed on 386 in case it goes down again.

I was having the same problems here. Seems to have cleared up for the moment.

I block my SD L-i-L on my Dish receivers. If the problems return, I'll remove the block and see if it's better. Thanks for the suggestion.

Was Directv having problems with all the South Bend stations? I set my DVR to record the Michigan/Notre Dame on 57 and when I sat down to watch it this evening all I saw was a slide saying they were having technical difficulties and were providing us with with the NY and LA network stations.
It looks like they got it back with about 1 minute to go in the game.
And was this both SD and HD? Is the SD Local Receive Facility still at WSBT? I believe the HD LRF is at WNDU.

I'd like to throw in my 2¢ too since 25, 57, and 69 are all broadcasting a good signal, but I'm getting a blank screen on Comcast, and "no service" on both the TV and DVR. Once in a while service comes in, and then it go's out.

Just want to clarify I have the Comcast HD feed up now and it's reacting pretty much the same as broadcast.

The signal did come back, in fact I watched the Vampire Diaries tonight.. However it was a real bad experience as the flashing I've seen in the past was the worst I've ever seen it. There were times I'd see 3 flashes in a row. Also there were a couple of times things got really pixelated. Also within the last 15 minutes of this show 25 blacked out again for a minute or so, then it came back again.

I don't know if this is worth noting, but last night I saw 3 Chicago stations suddenly appear on my DVR. I know one was a PBS station on channel 11. MyTV on 50, and a Spanish channel that I don't remember what channel designation it was on. I was actually getting a real good signal on them ranging between 60-70%. I'm no longer receiving these stations, but I wonder if there possibly could be another station causing problems with 25.. However as I said earlier, I've seen the same issues on Comcast as well...

Major tropo last night is indeed what caused all of this. Last night, from 60 miles west of Chicago, with a ChannelMaster 4228 antenna in my 1-story attic, I locked WEWS-DT in Cleveland, OH, on physical channel 15, resolving to 5.1, for over an hour before I had to go to bed.

Yeah. And what the heck was up with the season opener of Supernatural? Same deal: flashes, flashes and more flashes. It was beyond horrible. I've never seen this on WBND, only on WWCW and that's almost all the time since the HD transition. I was excited when this station went HD, but now I wish it would go back to analog (at least I could watch a show without getting a headache). Heck, it reminds me of the way the TV's were behaving in "Independence Day" when the aliens had tapped into the satellites

They still do broadcast 25, 57, and 69 in analog too. They can do this because all 3 are low power stations which are all owned by the same company. Because they are low power, they weren't forced to shut off their analog signal.

I know this might sound like a bit of a stretch, but they really do need to think about people who could have epileptic seizures who are sensitive to sudden flashes. I'm not such a person, but I grew up with one.. It's not pretty when it happens.

Crap, was WSJV having issues tonight? My season premiere recordings of Bones & Fringe are messed up on my HR20 and won't play.

OTA seemed fine to me. (At least for fringe)

No idea what happened. Had to watch them from Fox.com. Thank God their full screen player fed to my plasma from the PC over HDMI looks quite good.

This article makes me happy that none of our local channels were in the VHF range. Yikes!

Come on HVS, we know you've got deep pockets. :-P~

Actually 25 and 58 look just fine in HD as they are. If anything, we can only hope WNDU would take notice of this bad boy.. Anything would be an improvement at this point.

Isn't OTA stuck with MPEG-2? That is a nice box, but it won't help MPEG-2 channels.
