Yeah, I think 62.3 is going to be mobile TV. Not sure about 21.

I would rather 21.2 go to Antenna TV than that weather map...much more entertaining. I can see the weather radar online, it's not like WX+ was. I think there is more potential with Married With Children, Hazel, Three's Company, The Nanny, Mad About You, Maude, etc. than staring at a map.

WLOS 13.3 could be used for Antenna TV. They ran THE TUBE on 13.3 for a while and then reverted back to an SD version of WLOS. I thought they would add The COOLTV on 13.3, but it is on WMYA which I cannot get.

Many in my market agree! My station carries AntennaTV.

Just an update. Contractor arrived on Monday April 18, and completed the rebury, of course they never tagged my door so I had to check in the back yard to find that the job was completed. I then called Charter back to make a another appointment for the in home installation of the internet service. Upon calling them on Wed April 20, the CSR told me that the account had been CLOSED!??? But they opened a new one and I am scheduled to have the in home install on Tue April 26 between 8-10 am. I will let you know how it goes. Thanks for your concern. I appreciate it.

Bill.

Doug:

I am still trying to see how many viewers people would be willing to contribute to the payment of the sat data acquisition for WxPLUS. I'm willing to contribute an average of 25$ /mo for one year right now. That is my opinion of how good WeatherPLUS is. I might be willing to offer 200$ to get the ball rolling.

Can you provide me with any other details about the sat data service for WxPLUS, is there a "contract" of length of service involved? If so how long, and what are the general terms.

Hey Bill-

Very good to hear that the drop has been buried. We hope the install goes smoothly and everything is wrapped up on the 26th. Feel free to forward your information via PM should you have any questions or concerns, and we'll be happy to address them for you.

Have a great weekend!

Lots of channels are missing on Charter Asheville, NC, zip 28805. HD channels are coming through but the local SD channels, CNN and some others are missing. This is the case with the cable going directly into a TV and also via Moxi.

EDIT: Problem fixed

I am not 100% sure, but I think FOX Charlotte dropped their weather radar for MeTV. 21.2 can certainly be used for something better, maybe if they get enough requests they will consider it (who knows, they may be right now).

Yes that is correct but there weather channel is still available online and on cable. I am looking forward to MeTV on 7.2.

It looks like WLOS (OTA) went down about 9:40 this evening. Hope it was nothing serious.

Well when they are on the air they can't even bother to broadcast the ABC World News. I guess the death of the world's most notorious terrorist is insignificant, and it is more important that we watch Wheel of Fortune instead. Fortunately, I am just on the bare threshold of receiving WSOC Ch 9 in the evenings from Charlotte so I was able to sample ABC's expanded coverage along with NBC as well. And with a new low noise amp, I actually get 9.1 or 9.5 most of the time now, but not as strong as WCNC and WBTV.

Tyler, you will find as many of us have, our local market is being run on the cheap. Forget investigative reporting because that might offend a possible advertiser and they might have to pay a crew to cover something. If it can't be found on a satellite feed the odds are you won't know it.

I took a survey the other day asking what HDTV has done for me. I replied because of the lack of quality of the local news it has given me the opportunity to be informed from real journalist. A good UHF antenna, amplifier and 20 feet of pole and I haven't watched local channels in a good while.

Only thing I watch local is channel 16 but lately they are off the air more than on. Channel 4 just did a 14 hour telethon for Alabama. I think tomorrow channel 7 is going to do a 22 hour telethon. Now that's entertainment

Getting CNNHD on 788 and HMHD (Hallmark Channel) on another channel that I can't recall (749?) on Charter this morning. Just caught these as I was running out the door, so there might be other new channels that I overlooked.
Lifetime HD on 749, Hallmark HD 783, CNN 788

What has happened to Hallmark channel on Charter in Waynesville, NC? It vanished earlier this week and channel 62 is now blank. TV Guide Channel is gone as well. I suppose they have moved Hallmark to digital only, as they have attempted once before.

Good evening,

Both of those channels were moved to digital only during the lineup changes from 5/3. This information was included in your last statement. Did you have any other questions that we can assist with?

Sorry for the delay in updating you on my internet situation that I posted about here a couple of weeks ago.

The installation technician came a couple of weeks ago and did a FANTASTIC job. Compared to the previous tech that visited my home before that..."Jimmy" was professional, accomodating with my requests, and did a very neat quality install!

Internet service has been up and running for about two weeks now and is very reliable, stable, and as fast as advertised, which more than good enough for my useage.

Charter definitely has some really great techs along with some not so great techs.

I have a question, I would really like to send a snail mail about my GREAT service from Jimmy. Do you have a Charter HQ corporate address for the CEO and the customer service exec as well? People like Jimmy should be rewarded for outstanding service to their customers.

I don't think this happens often enough as the only time most people take the time to contact the brass tacks is when things are wrong.

Bill-

That is great to hear! We definitely like to hear comments like these!

We work at a corporate escalations level and will be more than happy to forward your comments about Jimmy to the appropriate parties.

You can compose a message and email it directly to Umatter2Charter@Chartercom.com and we'll forward it in it's entirety, or we can simply forward your public comments posted here. Either way, we will need the name, address, and telephone number on the account so we can pull Jimmy's tech number and supervisor information.

If you choose to email us, please include that information. If you would rather we forward your public comments, please send a private message via AVS including that information.

We look forward to your reply.

Thank you,
Steve

WSPA's 6 PM news tonight had just a black screen during the commercial breaks. Did someone fall asleep at the switch, or what?
I still think their master control is operated out of Atlanta or some other remote location. At least that's what I thought I heard somewhere. Which could possibly explain the occaisonal glitches if that's correct.
And speaking of WSPA, I wonder when they are going to start MeTV on 7.2. I am looking forward to it.

Umatter2Charter (Steve):

I haven't forgotten about the letter, I've just been busy.

I'm writing the e mail to the address you mentioned right now. I will include Jimmy's tech number as well as my address.

Again thanks for your suggestions and help.

Umatter2charter (Steve):

I have just sent the letter regarding Jimmy (including my address and his tech number) to your e-mail address at 12:15pm EDT you should receive it any moment. I addressed the letter to Michael Lovett, Charter's new CEO. I hope that you can find a way to forward it to him.

Thanks,

Bill

Re: Weather PLUS (NBC PLUS)

It just won't die. Chuckles.....

I was watching WYFF 4.1 and sure enough a sound track from WxPLUS was background music in a Virginia College spot airing during the late afternoon. This isn't the music that WYFF was using for the last year or two it was the music that NBC was using before they stopped supporting in nationally. I think the NBC O&O stations were still using it after that though.

Found this clip of WESH 2 Weather PLUS using a continious loop of the Hearst News theme now I can't imagine who could stand listening to that for more than a couple of minutes very monotonous.

I want to know, as well - I check the TV every day and it's still RTV What can take so long? It's been over 6 weeks.

Contractual issues and negotiations, as well as technical matters and set-up. It's more than just flipping a switch. But hoping it will indeed show up soon.
