Just noticed today I now get the tennis channel - not sure if this is a temporary peek for the French Open finals or if we officially get it with the digital cable package, but thanks Charter.

Well I was hoping it would be sooner rather than later. Disappointing to wait until Fall. MeTV has begun appearing in new markets as of June 1 including Atlanta and I believe some other MediaGen stations, so I was hoping to see it show up on 7.2. And still waiting to see something on 46.2 and 55.2...What about Antenna TV? Getting frustrated here.

Religious broadcaster The Rev Jimmy Thompson passed away this past week. He and his wife Joanne operated Dove Broadcasting/WGGS Channel 16 and hosted local Niteline Christian programming. Channel 16 is a TBN affiliate and through the years also featured programming with Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker, but despite that scandal, the Thompsons always maintained financial integrity and were nationally recognized local religious broadcasters.

I wondered what happened to him. I used to catch him when he was anchoring the noon news on WYFF4.

Gordon is no nosense and does a solid job, I won't be able to watch him live if that is his regular time slot on WSPA.

Wish the best for him and his family.

Anyone know if Charter will get the Tivo box in our area soon? Will it allow for netflix and other streams?

Good afternoon!

The Charter TiVo is still in development and entering the testing phase soon. While there are no specific launch dates available as of yet, it's tentatively set for late this year.

As for the streaming content, we'll be working with providers of those services to incorporate that experience into the TiVo platform, at this time which services that are scheduled to be incorporated are not available.

Do you have any other questions for us?

Thank you,
Steve

Hey umatter,

Why is my cable box resetting itself each day early morning?
I wouldn't care except I'm losing all my guide data.

Should I chat with a rep on line?

That's a bummer about no MeTV until fall. I won't really miss RTV.

WYCW has re-introduced 62 in to its branding after a 5 year hiatus.

What time are you seeing resets? Maintenance wouldn't be a daily occurrence and should not be affecting your guide. Please pm the following and we'll take a look:

Doug:

Been trying to use the WYYF4 live radar page and it doesn't seem to be working.

I've tried three different pcs and the page doesn't seem to be loading...
the one thing I did notice that looked incorrect was the "update" date located above where the viewer screen is, it is dated March 4, 2011....

Here is the link to the page :

Is anyone having any problems with audio/video dropouts on Charter on ESPN HD and ESPN 2 HD (808,809)? We have been having this issue for several weeks now. They seem to occur at least once a minute or two. Other people in our area are having the same problem. However, it's hard to report this problem because they will want to come out to the house and I don't want to take a day off of work for them to realize the problem it at the house.

I'm still seeing this on ESPN HD and ESPN2 HD non stop. It started several weeks ago and seems to be getting worse and worse. It made watching the US Open a major pain.

Umatter - you guys making things happen?

A) my cable box did not reset itself last night... I'll hold my breath.
B) ESPN dropped out/froze for more than a moment today - first 10 minutes after coming back, it doesn't seem to be pixelating/stuttering...

If so, thank you.

edit: ESPN did it once in the last hour.

I have an opportunity to be in Anderson over the weekend - normally I live about 2 hours away. Today, I just happened to run across a website which shows old TV Guide listings. I did not realize that TV Guide editions from 1970 and back listed the station addresses - it lists WAIM's as 321 Kingsley Rd, Anderson, SC 29622. I did a Google Earth search and it looks like nothing resembles a broadcast facility - radio or otherwise - at this address. Of course, it was somewhere around 1979 or 1980 that the station would have last had a physical presence at this address, so there's been ample time for any remnants to be long gone. This address is either on or adjacent to Anderson University's campus. According to internet reports - mainly Wikipedia - today's WMYA "My 40" has had quite a history and this stuff intrigues me. So, any information would be greatly appreciated.

Must be some mistake---a Google Earth search clearly shows the still existing WAIM-TV tower on Kingsley Road. It is now part of the Anderson College Campus. I believe the original WAIM/40 "Broadcast Center" has been remodeled for use as a college building. The tower is actually quite impressive, about 400 feet and a self-supporter. On what seems like one of the highest points in Anderson and right downtown, it must have provided pretty good coverage to the immediate area with it's 180,000 watts! You're right, WAIM/40 was a rather interesting station. Additional info---I read sometime back on an Anderson College (I think now they call it a University) website that the "old WAIM building" had been remodeled, I think into a band building or performing arts building--seems appropriate. If you're in the neighborhood, drive onto the campus and see if you find the actual building near the base of the tower. Also, I read years ago that WYFF was using the tower as a microwave relay point for their news reports from the Anderson area--also highly appropriate! Let us know what you see!

So after doing a channel scan today, I noticed Charter now has a lot of the 2-99 channels in digital format. However, none of my cablecard devices are mapping those analog channels to their digital equivalents. Why would Charter have those in digital format but not map our boxes/cablecard devices to those channels?

My cheapo amplified terk mounted to my dish is on the fritz after 7 years (I think water is getting inside). Any recommendations for a good, small outdoor amplified antenna? I'm on the east side of Greenville and get all the locals pretty well, except for 13, which I don't need (already have it on satellite). I'd prefer something I could clamp to my dish or mount on my deck. Don't have a mast or want to put one up. I can't easily get wires from my attic to my tv either. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Why do you think they don't? I noted this several months ago (indeed, there is significant duplication in the QAMs which I don't understand), and THINK the TV upstairs (with a box) now has better pictures on (say WGN) than I see on mine on 22, more like I see on 76.1.

Order the Terk HDTVo antenna from Amazon. $75, no tax, free shipping. It is one of the best type of add on antennas for satellite dishes. Or you could consider Winegard SS2000 Squareshooter, but it is designed more for UHF so it may not get 7 or 13. Better choices would be Antennacraft HBU22 or Winegard 7696 but you said you wanted a smaller add on type with amplifier, so that Terk HDTVo may be your best choice.

I know they don't for cablecard devices because I have 3 TiVos and all 3 are tuning analog frequencies for all of 2-99 (including 22, I just checked again). If they are mapping them for cable boxes and not cablecards, then that is a pretty big oversight.

I did a scan this morning for ota and got a few new stations that I have never recieved before. What OTA stations can one recieve with just a good outdoor antenna in Mauldin?
