It's a consideration, but I'm interested in knowing what the current crop of issues is with the Tuning Adapters.
Well, in the past I was having terrible problems with a field labelled subscription expiration. I would have to call in every month and have them send a "balancing hit" to the TA to get it to renew the subscription expiration date. Otherwise I would no longer be able to Tune any SDV channels. This seems to have gone away completely and I haven't had an issue in probably over 6 months now.
I've completely given up on TWC Tech Support or the contractors they hire to provide on-site support. Its hard to find any tech support or onsite support agents who know what a cablecard even is... don't get me started on trying to convince them that my Ceton card needed 2 TA's (it did up until a couple of days ago).
I installed my own two-way amplifier because splitting the signal even once resulted in bad pixellation and SDV tuning failure. The only thing the installer tried was he disconnected the plug in the master bedroom.
I discovered on my own that the apartment was wired in series (each outlet had a 2-way splitter behind it, one for the outlet and one to continue on) I replaced the splitters with taps which helped a ton to keep the signal level up.
I actually had my account messed with when I didnt even call in. One day my Ceton stopped tuning channels, I called in and somehow my cablecard was no longer listed or provisioned. On another occasion one of my TA's magically disappeared from my account. Hours of my time have been spent fixing the mistakes of poorly trained customer support and techs. If another option was available in Utica/Marcy there is no way I would ever be with TWC.
