I do not own a Tivo but I paid a little visit to their forum today to browse and their layout is so much easier to read and sift through as they have main catagories for discussions and such. I would like to suggest that this form gets tweaked a bit to make posts more easily readable and easier to sift through. I do some graphic design so if you need any graphics tweaked and such I will be happy to help.

Thanks!

I think one of the reasons the TiVo board split up into the many TiVo boards was just out of the sheer volume of all the postings.

This board tends to be pretty busy, but has it crossed the threshold of too busy for one board yet? I don't know.

It does do a fair amount of volume here and it would be nice to not have to weed through discussions of Replay's future if your not intrested while your trying to find those nifty "walpaper" images posted a week ago..

My suggestion for topics:

Replay Daze - General Discussion
Replay Underground - Hacker Central
Tips and Tricks - (need I say more)
Replay Announcements - For Replay Guys to post
Suggestions - (new additions or feature enhancements)
For Sale - (classifieds for replay and accessories)
The Newsroom - Discussion of Replay in the News

Hope this helps!

Wait you need one more...

The Null Room - Aimless rambling and useless complaining that no one want to see except the poster.

Or do you thing that is going too far? http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif

Oh, yes, good idea.

I don't know... I don't like the idea of sub-boards because I like being able to see everything in one shot... you get a lot of synchronicity that way -- I'm not specifically looking for info on a AT&T flavored Replay's but because it is there I'm interested and get into a discussion about where ReplayTV is going... Would probably miss it if it was in its own subsection on the board. I tend to answer questions people have on digital cable setups -- and I probably wouldn't if the questions weren't in a general area... If the were in a "Problems" subsection, I wouldn't be answering many questions any more...

I don't think the volume here is high enough to merit a radical change... If we could self-police the board, and include more key-words and better descriptions in subject titles, I think that would solve most anyone's perceived problems... Make it easier to do subject searches too...

Now putting an indexed archive together would help things -- lots of less questions about "will my digital cable box work with ReplayTV" if they could go to an archive sorted for headings "Dishnet", "Digital Cable", "Manual Record", "DVD's", "Hacking", "Corporate Developments", "Macrovision", etc... We might get less repetition in newbie questions then... Don't know how practical such an idea is

just my $.03

Ciao

Ummm... I hope before you did the sifting you read through the FAQ (click the link at the top of the page)? Lots of the tips/tricks are gathered together right there...

When I went over to TiVo, I was thinking how impressive it was that they had 24987598 separate board; however, I find that a huge pain in the butt. With the exception of having the Mike Lowe memorial ShowStopper MacroVision subgroup, I don't think it's necessary.

Of course, I'm just giving Mike some good natured ribbing. No offense meant. Let us know when Panasonic gets back to you http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif.

It's safe to say that YES we need more boards because of ONE simple fact - each day we have at LEAST a page full of topics. that means, miss just 24 hours and you have to start sifting through multiple pages.

In any event, it's about a 10 minute process for the webmaster to set these up. The answer that "Tivo got multiple boards because they paid for them" is just stupid because more boards doesn't take time to create and doesn't cost any more to have/maintain http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I agree..

This board IS very active and we do need grouping. I am in total agreement with the above posting.
